I did not care all these days, but when I woke up today and saw the value of my portfolio I almost colapsed.
All my profit that I earned with Cardano, Tron, Stellar and ripple is loseing.
I hope that someone can say something promising and that soon it will grow.

It's just some correction, don't forget that the market capitalization has risen a lot in the last two weeks so some correction is bound to happen. This is the right time if you want to buy some alts before the next run as the price is cheap right now. This is always happen in crypto so don't be surprised everytime it happens.

I believe a correction happen these days, all are bleeding in the market.  We dont have to panic just observe the market it will in green again. I have the fight to hold some bags because of the value to rise again.

I assume most of you are using coinmarketcap as your source for prices. I heard that they recently decided to omit South Korean exchanges from their averages due to new laws in South Korea. Creating instantaneous drop per most currencies, since that exchanges had premium prices. They explained the situation later on, but some damage has already been done :)

I am not going to go into speculations behind this move and even debate whether it should have been done, but it was handled very poorly. They should have let the users know in advance. In short money hasn't disappeared, just your favorite page decided to show statistics in a different way.

South Korea is trying to stop foreigners, read China, using their exchanges, and therefore severely limiting anonymous banking accounts; google for more info.

if this is the extent of the correction then we are all laughing..  the crypto market is in full on Bull mode right now, gone are the days of 70% drops, gone are the days of the noobs running for the hills.

It's good! I am getting happier even though I lose my money because it is very healty way to sustain the market. Correction and fresh blood are good elements of the market.

But think of something that every loss in the market cap doesn't always happened at the same rate.
Last December's Dip or Correction is so short that the decrease with today's market cap could be a lot higher.

Since this is the Speculation Thread, I'll try to guess how low we can get, that's ±500b!
About 60% of it was caused by Bitcoin since it is the Major tool for users to cash-out their Digital Asset into fiat.
And today, since December, there were a lot of Bitcoin to Dollar trades happened.

Use this opportunity. Load your bags, and 2018 will be a profitable year.

It is normal. A correction will be ongoing to the altcoins. Bitcoin have already made the correction and have gone silent. Don't start another panic to the players or the price of the coins will suffer.

However, I noticed a general downfall through Blockfolio tracking as well, especially over last night. As far as I know - Blockfolio is looking at particular exchanges directly, not through Coinmarketcap. So basically I think that money is currently on the way out. I haven't noticed any major news so maybe it's just a normal daily correction - it was going just up up up up and up for days. Or, more likely, the dropping on Coinmarketcap created some FUD that took over last 20 hours....

I consider it an opportunity for us to buy a few coins that we kept an eye on ;)

Yes, but we all know that it was just pure fud.. that is the real reason of why the market really started bleeding by that way. There is nothing to be scared about, a lot of people have already been making profits from that huge decrease.

this is very normal. This is just an adjustment in a lot of cryptop adjustments. Buy cheap altcoin at this time. You will earn a large sum of money in the near future. after the market rebounded

Yes, and I think I know some reasons behind it.
Most Altcoins are not increasing in values so therefore investors are seeking new coins that are very cheap and has potential to be the next top Altcoin. Therefore there will be major dumping this week but traders found it the most important time to buy.
As an amateur day trader, it's the best time to buy on bloodbath and sell them on green light. That's how we do. 

Good investors and traders have no problem with this because it's always the best time to buy then sell them after it pump.
But for those who are in panic and decide to dump then they lose their investments. We all commit mistakes but this time it should be buy red and sell green to earn morr profit.

It's just another healty correction of around 20-30%, and the best time to buy more ;) Buy the dips!  ;D

I think it is normal for markets, do not panic, the people who sold in panic will be buying back expensive so in both conditions they are loosing.

It's because of the korean fud, when all of this is over we are going to see a new ATH for bitcoin and altcoin, maybe this time we will reach a trillion dollar market cap

I am not aware of the reason why this recent day dump is happening on the all cryptos bro. After seeing your information I have search about it. There is bill passing in the south korean governement and the finance minister against the bitcoin tech.

that's right, in this forum often going up and down the coin's price is caused because the coin selling value decreases so there is a decrease in the infestor level to infest in this forum.

Yeah, I do believe that if the FUD about the Korean banning the use of bitcoin is over. Then, probably we will see another ATH of the coins, BTC, ETH, BCH, all of them.

Agreed, not need to worry, this is completely normal and, if any, it's a nice possibility to buy cheap coins. When do you think the market is going to go up again? I ask this because I'll have some fiat to invest in a couple of days, but two days is a lot in crypto world and might miss this chance.

And my other question for the more experienced ones, which coins do you think is wiser to invest in the dips, larger market cap and safer ones, or lower market cap ones? Which ones do usually recover faster and more, so one can make more profit out of this correction?

You should always take advantage of a crypto sale, Also btc going down means those btc fees are cheaper as well which is a big plus if you want to move fiat to btc.

Yeah, that's what I want to do, but after this dip I believe will come a big rise in all cryptos, so I wanted to know which one usually recover faster and more: lower market cap o higher market cap ones. For example, if I can get some fiat now and want to invest it during this dip, what would be much wiser? Investing on a project like PRL (nice dip right now, very good project), or in a project like Stratis, that are safer ones but with higher market caps? I'm talking about investment just during the dip and the rise that will follow, not long term. Just want to make more profit out of this correction. After all is back to normal, I'll rearrange again my portfolio according to my risk profile.

That's right, many people will buy in bulk at a cheap price then save it. This is a great opportunity to do altcoin stock and the key is to be patient to make a profit.

That's a perfect time to buy the coins you always wanted to get. The price is low, the opportunities is high. Late a lot of people will become rich but that one who was afraid to invest in that nice time.

It's a great time to buy more cheap coins. I'm a newbie, and I learned the hard way that now is not a time to sell, but rather to buy and HODL. Go for the cheap XRP... currently at 1.6. XLMs are hovering around 51 cents. POE, which looks very promising, is at around 17 cents. It's all here for the taking.

You cannot make profit while the market is falling, but you can make profit by selling when the market is high and buying when the market is low. You know, what is down goes up and what is up goes down (if it has some fundamental strength), it's a part of a life cycle.

It is not bleeding, it is called correction. Simple rule is buy when price is down and sell if price is up. In any currency related market there would be ups and downs, do not panic and wait until it bounce back. In crypto market when prices falls down, it would bounce back more than the highest price they were in a short term. If you research one year graph of bitcoin you could understand how cryptocurrency sustain.

If you lose your money these times you are probably in wrong coins. My portfolio rose %10 last 24 hours. I have coins that has risen %60, 30 and 20 in last 24 hours. Weak hands lost their money on some coins, while we had our profit more. Try to look up better coins. ;)

This is all due to the fact that the South Korean stock exchanges were excluded from the statistics of all exchanges and their capitalization. Do not worry, now everything will return to normal. This is a completely normal correction.

The market became bloody just a few hours ago, and you want to see rapid growth already. I think that you need to wait a little before alts will go up again. You have a good opportunity to buy some coins at the bottom. I've already done it.

South Korea supposedly banning crypto happened (they're not going to ban crypto it's just FUD). Once people start to get their wits together and panic dissipates then the market can recover and we'll start to see some more green. A few days after the FUD stops we'll see green but it wouldn't surprise me to have another FUD wave again at about 3-6am GMT when Asia is online.

South Korea FUD is already over. Crypto market is just  slowly recovering from the correction and
should see a strong rebound next. Just another nice buy the dips chance.

It is the classic time to buy but with caution, we must be careful with the extent of this bleeding another factor that we must take into account is to what extent a speculation can hit the market, knowing these concepts the profit is right.

I  have  been  in this   market for a lot, it's  (like all the other markets)  always evolving    but  the  rule is: when corrections  happen, you buy. 
Sell at the  next  pump.

So  don't be that  one  who  will  have to buy the bitcoin at  30k  or the Eth at  5 k,  just buy now.

Warren Buffett is an old man. I respect his success and his opinion, but he doesn't get crypto. Not even brilliant, leading professors do because of the age gap, imo. It's disruptive tech, and it challenges a lot of the notions held by industrial investors such as Buffett.

Bleeding market is a total pain in the ass among crypto holders dont worry its just normal upon checking today some coins are started to rise and its another bright day for all of us happy trading.

I'm not worried at all because of this drop on almost all altcoins. In fact, if I had some funds I would buy several coins now before they rise again, but what do you think are the main reasons for this dip? Some coins have dropped to half their values and market cap, including very known and so far successful projects like PRL, Elixir, etc., and this dip has lasted several days (a little more than I was expecting). Just normal correction after months of green numbers? I just want to understand this a little better, but I'm not going to sell the coins I have now because of this.

Price should not matter if you are not willing to sell anything. I have lost loads of money on Elixir too, but from the other perspective it went up 500% and now its down 50%. PLR is feeling better than Elixir right now, but the reason why Elixir is bleeding could be a Bitcoin Diamond trading on Kucoin, everybody went crazy and tried to get that piece of a pie.

I'm not willing to sell yet because I would assume a big loss, and I think this is only temporary. I'd buy more coins now if I could. I just wanted to know what could be the reasons for this dip, for learning purposes. It has lasted more than I was expecting. Bitcoin Diamond could be one of the reasons, but not enough to trigger this kind of global drop. Anyway, hope to get paid at my job soon so I can buy more altcoins before the dip is over  ;D

Well, this strategy was used by me back in August, and I was stuck holding bags of alts for months before they finally recovered in December. Sold off about half, and yesterday Wings DAO returned to 14k sats so I again sold off anough to recoup my initial Bitcoin investment. So far, I am almost 60% sold off on my "cheap alts buy strat", waiting for the rest of them to return to parity but overall I'd say yes, you can't lose if you buy the dips now. Not if you're willing to wait a few months, which I definitely am.

It was a well-needed correction which happened in the market and it is healthy for the overall growth of the market. The Korean ban FUD helped it look bad more but now on January 14th, it is looking good.

At this point just buy more and wait for the market to recover, you will soon receive a good profit. I think at this point the most appropriate time for you to invest in altcoin is downward sign because I am sure in the next few days all the crypto markets will become green

Well, these ups and downs happen for no reason recently. A few days ago we got news that South Korean is not banning crypto exchange, which is a very good news, but it doesn't do anything to the price. I am currently holding some altcoins too, feel a bit regret I don't sell them when they rise. Guess I'll need more time holding before finally selling it. But I'm sure they will go up again.

Some new people think this market decline or crash are extraordinary, but they're normal because we saw them many times before. You shouldn't expect the market to rise always, it will give some breaks to get back even stronger for you!

I actually think prices are still a bit too high. All the prices have been increasing a lot lately.. but the real value? I don't see a real value change in most cryptos (like, more use cases). I would buy in if btc falls to 11-12k$ though.

This is temporary. The market is going to be in green soon. I believe the total market cap will be 1 Trillion in February and We can expect Bitcoin at $22-25k in next more.

it's not bleeding at all. just a correction after the insane grow in the end of december. it's the market which used to huge up and downs. and you can be sure it will become green again. just think about all the money which can't reach the cryptocurrency market because many exchangers has closed new customers registration. new green wave is unavoidable.

I couldn't agree more. I look at it as a correction because altcoins did just not recover but it's price goes up through the roof many times and the loss is too minimal. The marketcap is still healthy after all.

up and down is a common scencs in this new world as lots of the programs are so immature that make great progress and sometimes great retreat.
As long as altcoins are accepted by more people, it will rise and rise again.

Market is sensitive to negative news especially news related to the ban of btc or cryptocurrency, i think this news was just spread for fud to buy btc cheaply, soon we will see market growing stronger than ever.

People are just getting their money out and taking profits. But I'm sure that we will grow more. Maybe they are just waiting on the right time to enter the market once again. There's really a lot of uncertainty that is going around, like the South Korean FUD and the mainstream media making it worst.

Marketcap is noe below $700M, but bitcoin is slowly increasing. People shifting around their money and looking as to what coins will bring a lot of money. Its just normal and its not worst as one should expect. Coins that are down are less than 5% dip. No need to worry here.

please also take into consideration that there have been corrections of over 50% and there will probably happen again in the future. If you are not prepared to see a 50% drop you should not be in crypto

Just calm down and wait for the market to recover. I think now BTC is still very low and you should focus trading now to make more profit soon and after good profit you should focus on BTC or USDT

The drop is not that big. If ypu look at the gain from December to 1st week in Jan on alts it just exploded. Now is the time for a correction and the prices can stabliz more. We need this so we can get another climb. Just Hodl and accumulat more. Then you are prepared for the next boom.

And yes as mentioned earlier, which project acctually deserves the price? So many visions but so few working products.
