Title: Process to get started buying bitcoins
Post by: brbits1958 on August 12, 2013, 01:14:32 AM
Hello All,

I hope Im posting in the correct manner.

Im learning about bitcoin and request someone to provide a simple step by step process from

1. USD cash in my hand

2. next step set up account with ?  (who is reputable and has least commission rate )

3. How do I get me cash to them?

4. How do they get the bitcoins to me?

5. I want to keep them until they appreciate in value and then convert back to USD.  How do I sell them and with whom?

6. I see reputable people on this board offering escrow service, how does this work?

7. Any other info that can be offered up that would be great.

8. Are there different transactions for those buying only 10 bitcoins (approx USD1,000.00) on a single purchase and those buying 100 bitcoins (approx USD 10,000.00) on a single purchase

Many thanks and I appreciate your input and guidance.

Thank you BurtW, is localbitcoins one of the better providers as far as you are concerned? Easy to deal with and reliable?

Localbitcoins is more of a "matchmaker" than a provider.  You sign up, see if there is anyone in you area selling, meet them at a public place with wifi (coffee shop etc.), give them the cash and they transfer the BTC to you at that time.

I am new to the world of Bitcoins too and I made my first transaction using localbitcoins and I found it very easy and efficient to use, you can search for sellers based on feedback and way you would like to conduct your transaction, be it an online transfer or a face to face local cash transaction.

As the others have posted, go with either localbitcoins or coinbase. Both are linked in my sig below.
