It was mid august, my father kept hearing the news on bitcoin and cryptocurrency. He thought it would be a great idea to invest himself.

So what he did is just mindblowing.

Without knowing anything about cryptocurrency he bought himself 500 euro's of mooncoin. Why? Because its the cheapest coin out there he said.

Without looking to the dev team, without knowing anything, he just invested. He probably thought all coins have the same supply.

Anyway, fast forward, mooincoin went straight to the moon after he bought it and he made a serious good profit on it.


This shows anyone can become rich with beeing crazy and lucky.

He's now selling his mooncoins, I gave him advise to buy these coins:


- BAT
- OMG
- LTC
- ETH
- PRL
- ELIXER

Anyone knows some more good coins?

1st: it's Elixir, not Elixer.

2nd: check out PBL, Phore, Xspec, Eltcoin, Leviarcoin, Zoin. Serious project that I see easily growing tenfold in the short term.

Everyone can make profit without knowing anything but knowing about projects that you invested in is better for sure. I think bancor is good coin and undervalued.

what your "dad" did is that he gambled. he made a bet and he got lucky and his bet was a winning bet. there are other "dads" out there who made the same bet and lost because they weren't lucky.

it is not mind blowing. it is how gambling works. sometimes you win a bet and sometimes you lose it.

and you won't get rich like this. you make a one time profit by getting lucky and unless you have invested all your life into that one bet, you won't become rich. and all the follow up investments will lose.
however if you start making better investments like the ones you are listing here, things will be different. even coins like Mooncoin are good investments only when they are getting pumped. if you learn how to get the timing right...

The bubble will blow anyway on coins like mooncoin and 99% of all other coins.

In the world of cryptocurrency it is possible to get rich quickly and also quickly become poor. And your father is not afraid to dive into this subject is commendable. To your list I added only bitcoin for long term investments

as long as you only invest what you're willing to part with (which is crypto rule n. 1), there is absolutely zero risk of becoming "poor"

Wow I never heard about Mooncoin ! The marketcap rise a lot during december, it went from 10 million to over 100 million usd ! I thought it was just a joke coin because of the name.

If ever the bubble was growing, it's people like you and your "fathers" who are taking it up. Of course it will and the reason is that people buy coins like they were blindfolded. They buy no matter what price the coins are even if they are 100x overvalued. That's how bubbles are created just by FOMO and jumping on the hype train. They don't even do a proper research. Just look at Cardano... 18 Billion for an idea, not even a working product or anything?

Congratuation to your dad, tell him to look at Elixir, very promising altcoin with low marketcap and great team. Ethereum is also very good altcoin, he should have some ethereum in his portfolio because this coin have a lot of potential to surpass Bitcoin and still have a lot of room to grown. NEOS,ICON,ARK and ADA are also good alternative to Ethereum for smart contract platform.  Also invest in some anonymous altcoin like Monero or zcash.

It is all speculation as the header says, we can only guess. As to good coin it should be something unnoticeable, like ltc, iota, thought they are not so unnoticeable.

Wow that is huge and congrats to your dad! I guess he definitely caught a lucky break on that one!! Remember for every dollar he made, someone was on the other side of that equation. Hopefully his initial success has gotten him involved with crypto enough that he will know to do his research moving forward!

Yeah. He took a big risk and it paid off for him. He lucked out. It's always a good idea to do some research on coins before buying to try and lower risk. If you don't do any research it's just a big gamble as the coin may be overpriced already.

Though I don't believe you story, it seems like a cock and bull story to me, but this is a great fiction story, now most people are investing in the space by just following the herd which to me is going to hurt alot of people long run

Yes, if you look at the statistics of 50 top coins, if you invest in any, you would have received a profit in the last 6 months. What if compared with the real sector is a huge profit !

This is the problem with cryptocurrency at the moment. Fundamentals don't matter anymore. New dumb money dictates the market. They think a coin is cheap without even understanding market cap. Fools think they can send NEO with a MEW wallet and still make a ton of money because some other fool said something something XVG or Dentacoin to them 😂

This is what I call a pure luck out of curiosness! Lol! Your dad made a good decision regardles whether he knew anything or nothing about crypto currencies. And he paid him well. I would suggest AMM and RDD. You'll get some profit out of these coins.

Yes in last half year all coins moved up a lot so whatever you bought you had nice profit. That is not always the case. We might see that all coins prices decrease in next 6 months. So I would suggest him to do some homework or rather go to closest casino.  If he put $500 on french roulette on a number he can get $18000 and dont need to wait half year for it.

Sometimes the coin we thought that has no value is the one that will going to give us good profit. Im seeing Elixir as a good altcoin and upon searching i think this will be one of the promising coin soon.

Nice story if true, but that kind of behavior will get people bankrupted, cryptocurrenices are investments and in many cases are very risky investments and in many cases they are scams, investing not knowing anything about crypto and making money has worst odds than betting everything to the zero at the roulette, even if the outcome was positive you should not have allowed your father to do that.

Thats awesome.  I told the wife the same thing or maybe just throw darts at a board and see what to try.  Ive lurked a bunch of these (next coins to take off) threads and its like a million different ideas.   though when someone mentions one I looked at , I give that poster a lot more credibility  LOL!

Thats a cool story. But as you said, its was just pure luck. Not anyone who invests blindly without any research will make profit. But nowadays as the markets are going crazy and the overall trend of crypto seems to only know one direction, its very easy to make profits.
I would diversify my portfolio into some long term coins and some mid term coins, mid term I would look into the top ten coins, long term in coins like Aeternity or Ardor.
