Title: Charity contributions and other alternative uses for Bitcoin
Post by: tinopener on January 10, 2018, 05:17:26 PM
It seems like many charities are now accepting Bitcoin for contributions. Could this be a big influence for the future of cryptocurrency?

There is almost a correlation between a Charity and Bitcoin I can't quite put my finger on, along the lines of:

1) It is presumed that Bitcoin has no inherent value
2) A charity will accept contributions of pretty much no value at all, and give you no value in return.

So even if Bitcoin went down to zero, charity would still accept contributions in it. Surely regulators would look favourably on cryptocurrency for uses like this? if somebody was only going to make contributions in cryptocurrency, why would anybody be so evil not to facilitate this process?

The other one is obviously faucets and games... people will still use them for diversion even if the value is next to nothing, hoping the value will one day come up.

Excepting the use of Bitcoin for transactions, and a value store, could all these other uses of Bitcoin sustain it, and can you think of any others?

Another thing that might sustain bitcoin and crypto is day trading.

Crypto might become the new penny stock.
