Title: [2018-01-10] Israel Might Ban all Companies Related to Cryptocurrencies

Cryptocurrency is quite a controversial industry. While some eagerly accept its disruptive potential for the entire financial sector, some (mostly, governments as they can’t regulate it) look quite suspiciously at it or even try to ban it. But how can you ban something you can’t control?

The Israel Securities Authority (ISA) thought of a better idea. Instead of banning cryptocurrencies itself it decided to ban cryptocurrency-related companies from trading their shares on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. The amendment on cryptocurrencies was proposed by ISA chairman Shmuel Hauser. If the change is accepted, all cryptocurrency related companies will be unable to list their shares on the national stock exchange, and those already trading their shares would be delisted.

It's very simple, if they actually decide to pull trough with this plan they will only risk losing a lot of their userbase. If people really want to invest in stocks of business that are related to cryptocurrencies they will just head over to a different stock exchange that does show tolerance towards crypto-related businesses. This right here is an excellent way for a country to miss out a lot on economic development.

Israel might do this or that.
Russia might do this or that.
China might do this or that.

It's almost impossible to take anything in the news seriously anymore with so many entities looking to get the price to tank. It's basically the same as when we were going through the Chinese regulations. One announcement from China was enough to get the panic going back then, and I am glad we have left that behind us. It seems that the market has at least moven forward in that regard. Crypto bans will result in exploding peer to peer markets, and that means that the authorities will completely lose control over everything related to this market. If they want to initiate that shift, then let them do so.

This kind of news should help accelerate development of atomic swaps.
