I'm not 100% sure on the mother board I'll be using (it depends on a forum member, actually) but it will have a 1151 socket.

So, I have two questions:

• how can I be sure it's the first version (for Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs) and not the second one?
• some people mine CryptoNight with their CPUs. Which would be the best bang for buck?

Also, does anyone know which CPU are the Onda boards shipped with?
(The ones which have a CPU included, that is)

CPU mining is generally not worth it.  I have an i7-5930K 6-core Intel CPU and it barely earns a few pennies a day.

Regarding motherboards, generally if it has a Socket 1151, it will use the latest CPUs, but it may need a BIOS update, sometimes even before it will boot.  Just check the specs for the board(s) you are interested in and it should clearly be stated.  If you want to avoid the BIOS updating issues, get a later model.

If you are earning pennies a day you are doing something wrong.  You should be getting $1-2

1.  Check out this wiki page:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_1151  The motherboard will probably have the chipset name in its model number (z170, b250, etc).  Compare that with these charts and it will tell you what processors its compatible with.

2.  Either Electroneum or Intense.  It will be one of those 2 when you start mining

3.  There is more than one Onda board (I know of one that doesn't come with a CPU) but I think the one you are referring to comes with a Celeron J1800

$1-$2 with a mid-range CPU was what I had in mind watching this video:

Since it has 1800 in it's name, I'm pretty certain you are right.
3.b. If you know what RAM (DDR3?) it uses or have other information about this mother board, I'd be interested.

I ordered the same board and it should be arriving any day now. The CPU is a Celeron mobile type; likely a G 1820, but who knows for sure. Could be an Untel Celery for all we know.

The memory required is single stick of 4GB or 8GB SODIMM (laptop) DDR3L - the L stands for low voltage - at either the 1600 or 1333 clock rating.
