Title: Installing 6 Sapphire Rx Vega 64 8GB HBM2 HELP !!! Post by: sumitc1989 on January 11, 2018, 11:12:14 AM Hi Experts,
Im form india and bought the below config MSI H270-A Pro Motherboard (LGA1151) Intel G4400 3.30 GHz 4GB Hyperx DDR4 x 2 Sapphire Vega 64 8GB HBM2 x 6 Circle Gaming 1700w PSU. Problems Faced : Post driver installation using single vega 64 things went smooth and after reboot the second card got detected too. However after installing the third card one of the card's started losing power after Windows loaded and stopped running inspite the LED being on. I Switched the risers and the PCI slots from x16 to x1 and similar problems kept arising with max 2 or 3 cards running and being displayed. I even updated BIOS & tried turning on 4G support yet issue persists. On one scenario i formatted the system completely and installed all 6 together but the display dint show up with sometimes 1 or 2 or 3 cards not spinning or with absent LED. Even though if 4-5 cards were spinning they weren't showing in Device manager. Conclusion : I was able to get only 2 cards being displayed perfectly and in rare occasions 3. Some research showed that i need to install 1 card at a time and load its driver and follow the same steps for rest cards + drivers. How will the second card ask for driver if i have already installed it once for the 1st card ?? Do i need to plug the display cable into the card and install the drivers or i should be doing via onboard VGA / Remote Desktop ? Tried using onboard VGA after installing the 1st card on x16 but display wasn't being shown. Also do i need to install 1 card after another and install driver or do i need to install the 2nd card card and install the drivers in the same x16 after removing the 1st card from its x16 (I know this sounds technically lame to ask but im highly frustrated). The above installations are being carried out on Win 10 64bit. Tried on ethos 1.2.5 but it always thrown a HARDWARE ERROR : Graphic Driver DID NOT LOAD ! Does any1 has a link to download ETHOS 1.2.9 ? Also does anybody has the above Motherboard mining setup to guide me ? Kindly PM me on sumitchowdhury1989@gmail.com if want to direct contact and guide me. Any and every suggestion is highly appreciated. Lastly any Indian / Mumbaikar living nearby borivali can help me over the phone / whtsap will be of great help ! Thank you all.... Title: Re: Installing 6 Sapphire Rx Vega 64 8GB HBM2 HELP !!! Post by: oblione on January 12, 2018, 05:07:54 PM Hey man
I've got a 6 card rig. I had a bit of a nightmare getting it all running but after a bit of research I finally got it figured out. I use a Biostar tb250 btc pro motherboard 6 x sapphire rx vega 64's 2 x 120gb ssd drives 6 x pcie risers corsair hx1200 & hx1000 PSU's 8gb corsair Ram G4400 CPU (as it has igfx) To get everything to work stable I had to do the following; 1. setup the rig without the vega's in it 2. install windows & reboot 3. install motherboard drivers & reboot 4. set my bios to use igfx as primary display drivers & reboot 5. set virtual memory to 110gb (basically use 1 ssd as vram) & reboot 6. connect all vega cards 7. Install blockchain drivers & reboot 8. configure my overclocking / undervolting 9. setup the miner 10. mine I found that when I used less that 16gb of virtual memory for each card in the rig it would mine for a few hours and then freeze, after some looking around I found a few guys who told me about the 16gb per card virtual memory setting and it's run stable ever since. Hop this helps man Title: Re: Installing 6 Sapphire Rx Vega 64 8GB HBM2 HELP !!! Post by: sumitc1989 on January 17, 2018, 08:30:15 AM Hey man I've got a 6 card rig. Hop this helps man I got the sane motherboard just to clear my misconception that the right settings are just not present in my MSI H270A Pro Motherboard. Got a similar one like yours except it isn't the pro version with 12 GPU slots. Mine is the Biostar TB250 mining. Even after following your exact steps it still couldn't detect 5-6 GPU's. It would only stick to 4 Vega's no matter i keep PCI Gen to Auto , 1, 2 or 3. Instead of 4 decoding Biostar has the option called "MINING MODE", kept that enabled too still no luck. Tried updating the BIOS still i failed. Any more suggestions because now im stuck with a huge investment amount and no profits i have made :( Title: Re: Installing 6 Sapphire Rx Vega 64 8GB HBM2 HELP !!! Post by: sumitc1989 on January 19, 2018, 05:06:36 PM Hi All,
Vega 64 Update : So finally after tons of frustration and repeated failure i decided to divide my vega 64 into (3 cards each) which is very stable when it comes to card detection. Allthough 4 cards also can run together but at a price of instability because if for some reason the system/driver/power crashes, post reboot 1 card goes missing from device manager. Tried every PCI GEN combination from Auto to 3 but none can fix this instability. For all those who got 6 or 8 vegas running smoothly you guys are really blessed man !! Present scenario : Cast miner 0.8 Bloackchain driver Aug release HBM2 ON Clock - 1000 Clock Volt - 800 Memory - 1025 Memory Volt - 1100 Fan - 3000 - 4900 Power - -10/-5/+5/+7/+10 Using above changes i wast able to hit only 1950 h/s max in cast miner(+10%) power, 1898-1920 h/s (-10%) & 1920-1940 h/s (+7%) with the last one currently im running my vegas on. Can anyone suggest me how did you guys achieve those extra 50-100 h/s breaking 2000+ barrier in cast miner. I tried almost every overclocking settings max i only reached till 1950 h/s that too it wasn't constant. Except for the very first time when i tried running the miner without any proper knowledge of config idk what settings i changed or what clocking i did i got 2200 h/s but with errors. https://image.ibb.co/mSwARw/IMG_20180109_205053.jpg Please suggest me to cross the 2000 barrier ! Thanks Title: Re: Installing 6 Sapphire Rx Vega 64 8GB HBM2 HELP !!! Your power draw is probably through the roof which may lead to throttling due to temps. Also the temps are between 65-68 C & TDP is 850-920 for 3 cards (inclusive of cpu+board)...........should these figures be a matter of concern or are they normal ? |
