LOL i would call that the fees bucket  :D fun to compare a transaction fees with a chicken bucket, or with a whisky bottle.

But this is a great news. Is the first step, hope to see McDonalds or Pizza Hut accepting bitcoin soon. But it would be better to see some alts there, that way we can save nice money paying low fees.

This has been a good initiation, maybe following its acceptance more such food chains starts accepting bitcoin. Looking the ongoing transaction fee issue, how this will function in an efficient manner is still a myth,because already several business platforms has started accepting bitcoin and at some point left because of transaction issues.

It's a very good news for the Canadians. This second diamond to the Bitcoin crown,as we already know Amazon start to accept the bitcoin.Many corporate start to accept bitcoin, because they come to know the value of bitcoin. If this continues, we can hope bitcoin will replace the the King of Currency (Dollars) and became a National currency soon.

Lightning network should help them with this problem. The company already launched its main net lightning network!

It's funny because companies/organizations like Steam withdrew their bitcoin payment option, and then here comes KFC. Though I'm really not sure if they chose the right time to accept bitcoin payments though, not sure how that would work out; and I'm really not sure if people would be willing to pay BTC due to the current humongous fees. 🤔 If I we're them I'd honestly wait for LN first. Or they probably just want some publicity, idk.

EDIT: After looking at their past tweets, it definitely looks like they're doing it for the publicity. It's pretty much like KFC Canada is using bitcoin shills that are being used by normies. Not saying it's bad though, any publicity is good publicity.

The limited-time marketing move sees the Canada-based chain advertising “The Bitcoin Bucket” complete with a Facebook-based live-tracker of the standing price for the product, which works out to roughly 20 Canadian dollars depending on the exchange rate with bitcoin.

That said, you can’t exactly walk into a KFC location in Canada and pay with crypto at the cash register.

Instead, the company is accepting Bitcoin via BitPay as one of the options through an online check-out page. The Bitcoin Bucket will be delivered directly to the customer’s address the (the product also carries a $5 fee), according to the check-out process on its website.

Haha I love KFC, their attitude is so carefree. It will probably end up being a great publicity stunt for them too, although I don't know how they will manage their bitcoin exposure.

yes, some people complain about transaction cost issues. I think this will be a problem and inhibit the progress of bitcoin as a transactional tool in the future.

Guess this was the reason. I thought they were already accepting it in stores everywhere in Canada. Like you can just bring your phone and pay with it, I guess it's still a far away dream. Though it is still a good progress for bitcoins and possibly this was the reason why bitcoin prices spiked a few days ago (not so sure though). If KFC sees this as something good, for sure they will keep this option and probably expand this all over the world if possible. Maybe our dream of a world where we can use bitcoins everywhere will become reality someday, but probably not this year as the governments everywhere has been quite hostile against bitcoin use.

Canada is one of some country whom legalize Bitcoin in their country. I'm not too surprised that Bitcoin will be accepted into any industry. KFC has a big name in the fast food industry, It is good news proof that people are getting to know bitcoin and this is the future.

Wow it awesome! I wish KFC in my country would implement the same, and I will definitely go straight ahead and bough a bucket of those mouth watering fried chickens.  I just wish that they will really sell it with a bucket label as posted in the twitter and facebook. But my question is…What if the transaction is delayed for about several minuets? Will they give the bucket to you right away or wait for the confirmations. Anyway, it excites me a lot. This will increase the user of bitcoin since many may want to try to buy using cryptocurrency. So there is a possibility that bitcoin price will rise with this.
But i dont think of it as effective at the same time, having big transaction fees will be the problem for this if the buyer is not using the same wallet of the shop.
But if they use the same wallet as what the shop is using then it will be free from transaction fees and will have instant transaction.

well the adoption of bitcoin has been happening in a lot of places online or offline by a wide variety of merchants and services for a very long time. specially last year that bitcoin's popularity grow a lot and most of the FUDs about bitcoin went down the drain when Japan mass adopted bitcoin.

but sadly in the past couple of months it has become impossible to use bitcoin for any kind of payment and that has effectively put an stop to this adoption. I am surprised to see this here because of it. hopefully we can soon get back on track and start seeing some lower fees before the adoption stops completely or they drop it.

Accepting bitcoin is certainly good news, but the btc transfer fee is too expensive to pay for KFC, and I might be reluctant to eat an expensive burger. ;D

Wow, it's the positive news for all of bitcoin holders and I think which country banned bitcoin they will realize now. If KFC will accept bitcoin I think bitcoin price will increased again. Already many persons are thinking bitcoin as a positively.

Great news, it seems that there's a lot more news about companies accepting Bitcoin payments.
On the other hand, some are also dropping it, I'm still sad that Steam decided to drop it. Hope they will enable it again once the scaling issues are solved.

Good news. At least it is a good application in real life to show people we can use cryptocurrencies in real life. I saw it on the news today and I was happy. Good news are coming as well after south korea news. I hope we will go to moon soon again.

I mean it's ingenious in a way, I think that it's pretty cool that they're doing something like this even if it is something that you don't always know if they're being completely serious about it. It sure as hell keeps their social media operators busy though, and that's what matters when you consider what a majority of them have to do. It gets incredibly mind-numbingly boring if they don't get some variety and games in their life, and that exactly what this is.

Maybe I'll look more into the Bitcoin chicken bucket sometime, would it be a good investment? I don't know, but for 0.001 BTC that's not a bad deal regardless of whatever it may be.

It would be great for KFC to accept Bitcoin because s lot of people could buy food directly with their bitcoin wallet if they dont have any money in their pockets. But there will be complicated situation because KFC would have to create a special app so that people can pay their products on the app than receive a special code to show in the shop. They will have to deal with the volatility because the price changes from day to day so the profits can grow or fall.

There are also news about amazon and alibaba will look into the possibilities of adopting bitcoin in their market whereas buying online will now start accepting bitcoin as payment. Just thinking about the transaction fee, they should also support other coins that has lower average fee.

It always amazes me whenever an establishment accepts bitcoin as payment for their goods and services. This privilege isn't available in my country yet but i am hoping that soon it will. Of course, fiat fees will be in play but i do hope it won't be that expensive. If establishments in my country accepts bitcoin as layment, it would be convenient and safe.  

That sounds cool and a good start up for bitcoin to be accepted by fastfood chains. Hoping that it would happen also in our country. If it continues, other establishmenst will adopt bitcoin also as one of the mode of payment. If that happens, life will be more easier and cooler.  :)

Unless this is solved first, I don’t think that having bitcoin as a payment method in KFC would be the best option. Other than the fee being too high, the confirmation time of transactions take too long. Also, the price of BTC is constantly changing. What’s $5 now may not be $5 in a few minutes. Although this wiuld bring good popularity for bitcoin, I don’t think that it’s possible.

This is just for markenting, but it's good for bitcoin as well. But if they started to talk about bitcoin, it's possible that when LN goes live and spreads worldwide, KFC will be among the firsts who develop their system to accept fast bitcoin payments. Until then there's only the markenting, and it works, because we're talking about KFC for 3 pages now on a worldwide forum

Same thoughts, This is just for marketing promotion for KFC, of course we can't deny that its both beneficially for parties involved. KFC beats McDonalds as the first fast food chain to accepts bitcoin. We heard that McDonalds is looking at this options, but KFC is the first. While more and more people will discover what bitcoin is and may try to but those "finger looking good" chicken. LOL. But I think it will not have a significant effect on the price, maybe in the long run it will when Lightning Network comes into fruition. Let's see how it pans out on the fast food industry and if this is successful I'm sure that competitors will likely go on that direction as well.

It's a good idea that putting something on trend on what you are selling but, think of the Blockchain fees it's really high right now i think that altcoin would be an alternative with paying the food or using a wallet that is based on their country that can make instant transfer from the customer's wallet to theirs.

Of course, with such a growth and the introduction of crypto currency into everyday life, there are all the prerequisites that the Fiat will fall into the background. And Canada - well done, they contribute to this.

i rather to pay a fiat for the bucket of chickens than bitcoin, bitcoin transaction fee is very high they should make a wallet site like coinbase or getting support from famous wallet sites so there will be no transaction fee when they purchasing a bucket of chicken. But this is good idea they are now accepting cryptocurrency soon all fastfood chains will accept cryptos as a payment.

the progress of the country is different I take pride in the country of Canada there is not complicated for this bitcoin transactions let alone can make buying KFC I think is very easy for someone who has bitcoin.

I got my answer though. I found it a little strange that some business adopts bitcoin as payment while fees are high, it seems like he really believes in bitcoin.

I'm also waiting for that moment where KFC management will implement this all over their branches around the world. Everyone is worried about the fee and even until the fee is high and KFC near me is already operating this way and starts accepting bitcoin for that bucket, I won't buy it. Let's wait for lightning network as it's been told that it will fix scaling problem and can also lessen the fees.

This is awesome! I love KFC I wish this is possible here in Philippines. I love their gravy or sauce. But I think this is not possible in our country because of the kind of government that we have. And the kind of people that we have in our country is very negative in terms of this kind of transactions. They always think that it is may not work or did not be possible just because they dont have any amount of bitcoin. But I wish that the day came that all are daily transactions will be accepted by bitcoin.

All the things that happen today are severely affected by government decisions in a country. If canada can do that then automatically their government is very supportive of the use of Bitcoin, this can be a positive news because it will help the development of Bitcoin. But in recent days I also see that some countries are seen to be banning the use of Bitcoin, so all of those things will definitely affect the price of Bitcoin globally. Hopefully the news is not true and we can see all aspects of support positively for the development of Bitcoin.

Whenever bad news is about to come, a good one will definitely follow. Korean government publicly announce the crackdown of Bitcoin exchange in their country (I don't know if it was true), then this good one shows and that's what Bitcoin's supportive actions is and I like it. Hope more and more known establishments to fully accept Bitcoin payment in the future.

As you said bitcoin is not yet ready for day to day usage because the fee for a single transaction is more than $10 for transacting small amount of transaction.But this could be a great initiative and it encourages the bitcoin usage over other companies and more people can know about bitcoins will possible bitcoins get more expensive.But bitcoin fee will be reduced when LN was implemented so it have to be implemented soon.
They should also accept other cryptos too because off high fee in bitcoins maybe LTC can be a good option for small usages because the fee is very very low and transactions will be faster.
