Which updates in the coming months etc. will help bitcoin to recover to 20k again?

When all fud regarding possible ban of bitcoin trading in few countries will be over, bitcoin will start to pump again and it can easily go to over $20k.

Also if there will be active development on implementation of lightening network than price will fly to moon.

I think by end of Q1 of 2018, bitcoin price will be above $25k.

i think that price need to go under radar for a couple of months at least.. but that doesn't mean price need to go down!
it has to stay linear without spikes or crashes because any of both will let generalists news speculate around

Unacceptable fee makes everyone think again when to buy or use bitcoin.
Demand will reduce and sites will stop bitcoin -------------> price will down.
when development complete LN network price will start back again.
also, exchange sites ban make effect good "reduce network spam"

I believe a solution to the transaction fee  and the confirmation  delay problem.  This will definitely give a huge hype to Bitcoin that can help it to reach or probably surpass the 20k USD barrier.  We all have experienced this annoying hight fees and  long confirmation thing from Bitcoin.  We even have to bid just to get our transaction confirmed faster. If this problem is solved, I am sure all these FUD thing will turn into a huge hype and will push Bitcoin price to its new ATH.

This question is something that I myself have asked all over again but no answer to it and every time it seems that there is a push towards that direction, something just happen that push things back to the initial position. But unfortunately there is nothing one individual can do than keep pushing and hope with all the good news and development in the pipeline when fully deployed could make price reached the all time high which seems to be eluding every day.

It will be touching those prices soon, but you just need to know that if there is still a lot of FUD, it will be never touching it. There is a lot of fud coming from Asia at the moment, that is what is creating an impossible way to increase the price ATM.

As bitcoin is recognized world wide now, If more and more countries like Japan legalize it and accept is as an alternative method of payment. That'll help the price rise further as the demand will increase. And due to the limited amount of 21 million It'll just help bitcoin increase it's price. And if there's some way from which the transaction fee comes back to normal people might get comfortable using it more often and thereby increasing the demand.

I suppose the news about mempool being empty again and transaction fees going back down is the best trigger for a big bull market.

Many have been bothered by the high transaction fees and long confirmation time and if this were to be solved, then this would contribute to better feedback towards bitcoin and would possibly make the price to go up once people are encouraged to buy more. Less people are buying because of this present problem.

Another contributor would if good news about bitcoin were to be spread such as possible adoptions or innovations made, and once the FUDs are gone this would surely have some good impact on the price - or possibly create another hype.

There are two major frustrating changes in bitcoin network since mid of 2016 which if gets implemented,  the price will start increasing nonstoppable.
1. The network fee is so high even some wallets like coinbase charges $13 for transaction of $5. This looks vwry unfair because small traders can't afford.
2. The time of confirmation has been increased much more than before, this means bitcoin doesn't give us facility of instant funds utilization anymore

Same as that happened in the last year, if one or more countries adopt bitcoin giving importance same as that they provide to the traditional currency of the respective countries will surely cause a price pumping to take place in a very smaller time period and the same will help for gradual growth.

The transactions fee, a lot of people refuse to used Bitcoin again for transactions because of the fee, and with the decreasing transactions volume then the price will keep on going down, if this can be fixed I think 20k will be easy to achieve, and we can't keep on asking people to used Bitcoin because once the people see the fee then that people will choose other coin

Everyone has been waiting for the lightning network to be implemented in the network to reduce or to really solve the problem within the network.
When the bitcoin network comes back to a normal state (faster transaction and lesser fees) i believe that most of the companies who have withdrawn their support to bitcoin will comeback.
If the companies comeback to bitcoin and invest this move will have a huge effect in the market and most likely will lead to bitcoins having a higher price.

perhaps but for now we have no idea cause it seems there are no positive news about bitcoin nowadays. And they all said that this year is all about altcoin and i agreed on it as i see the valued of ETH nowadays. But dont loss hope mate soon it will recover maybe mid of  this year. If i was you invest on alt while bitcoin is on dip and then covert it when bitcoin rise again.  

Scalability is the major issue here, transaction fee and confirmation time should be lower down not just to recover the price again rapidly but also to set new benchmarks in future. Users are much frustrated due to the problems they have faced regarding transactions in the past few months, this need to be resolved immediately.
Moreover what i have observed there is one more thing that can recover the price is community "trust", the distributed investment should be gather again in order to pump the bitcoin again for the next ATH.

Once that the Lightning Network gets implemented, the price is going to be a rocket again.

I am confident about it, and we all know that the LN is all we need right now, fast payments, cheap, and smoothly, that is what we need to make the price go up.

It's enough if the fuds are removed from the news, we can witness another bull market in bitcoin. This would shift the price above $20k actually.

We cannot remove FUDs. They will always keep coming and media have a way of dishing it out to the public. The only thing I am sure will really cause a stir for the bulls right now is if the Lightening Network is deployed which will make the currency aspect of bitcoin to be a reality. That is the only thing right now. News have a way of playing with the minds of traders and investors, either good or bad.

I don't know about "updates", but there's the coming war on the korean peninsula, war with iran, trump impeachment, and general impending worldwide chaos.. these will all help bitcoin recover to 20k again  ;)

Continous demand after countering FUDs and negative speculation is the key for another bull run. There is no such thing as recover since we can considered the current price as "high". Remember that reaching 5 digits is already a good achievement so for now, as long as the price is sitting on that digit level then we can expect another bull run. We just used to experienced a large pump that's why when there is price decrease for up to (or around) $2,000-$3,000 we are in worries.

Updates or maybe you are referring for upcoming news and events isn't it? Well even how positive those it will depend on the impact on the community. So for now, let's just watch how the price moves and wait for that "upcoming events" if they will push up the price.

I guess the only thing that will help Bitcoin to reach those price levels again is patience by its holders. The lack of patience that many new traders are bringing in is hurting Bitcoin. With a little time, the markets will sooner or later reach new heights as far as Im convinced.

I seriously believe that the ban rumors of some countries are the major reason why bitcoin price remains uncertainty and it will take positive news about this banning for bitcoin to turn green and break the last high of $20,000. The few things that can also contribute is for some of the exchangers that has suspend new accounts to reopen it as this we bring new traders into the market.

Nothing or nobody is going to help bitcoin to reach 20K again. The only thing that will allow bitcoin to hit 20k again is bitcoin itself and the community. Lightning network can be a big stimulus for the price because if LN works out fine a lot of people will think we finally fixed the final issue with bitcoin (which is a wrong perception of what bitcoin in it's current state is IMO). Nevertheless I'm not counting on a external factor to cause a boost in price, after all we really don't need more attempts at market manipulation even if it would cause the price to go higher.

Nothing can help bitcoin reach $20k again; it's just the supply and demand coming into play on the grand scheme of things. Right now, the demand for bitcoin is little compared to the available supply lying around, add to the fact that it's holidays still and some traders are still away and the recent bad news from South Korea and China. Positive press helps a lot in helping push the price up since it boosts the confidence of people to buy more than the usual. However the news and other developments related to bitcoin seem to stagnate at the moment resulting into a stagnation of the price as well.

Adoption will increase the price

Our full support and trust towards bitcoin and the entire crypto world will surely boost for it's growth. Not exactly that it will saw it immediately but from time to time, we can see it will grow slowly.
The market is always on the moved and more individuals we're wanting to be a part of this fast growing industry. And therefore, their will be a big possibilities that bitcoin will soar again.

Yes It possible, because bitcoin will still up and shine for the price. I think $ 20,000 could be happen in this year.
Because of that too, I still invest in bitcoin for long term. I realized bitcoin more give profitable in my future.

Even if it happens, it will take more than months until we can see those prices again, i am optimist about it, but i do not think that the price will climb toward those prices soon.

And if it happens, just prepare to sell all your altcoins because you will see a huge bloodbath on all your cryptos, except btc.

And for those who are saying that the ligthning network will pump the price, let me tell you that it is not going to get implemented because the huge large mining pools doesn't want it to get implemented.

No major issues have been found other than the FUD that has been generated to promote something else using the name of exchange ban. This too has been sought and now the price seems to be staggering for a price pumping that could grow the quoted $20k to record a new milestone.

Basically what will help bitcoin increase is through us if buy more bitcoin and help spread the good information regarding investing on it then it is a good chance that bitcoin will help increased it's price until it reaches 20,000.

yes , bitcoin will reach to $20000 again in the future because by comparing bitcoin from other cryptocurrency bitcoin is the topmost cryptocurrency and bitcoin become very popular in the world and the demand of bitcoin is countinously increasing towards the people because it help the to earn the money and many people become milliner by using bitcoin. Bitcoin will gain $20000 after two months easily.

We just need some time. Right now it's stable between 13-16 k, so as time goes by people who are scared after last big drop we'll think that in the end it's not so dangerous investment and that bitcoin resists. At least the same happens when I invest after previous big drops.

On the other hand Lighting Network is going to be quite important this year, and it'll help bitcoin price. At least it's what I hope.

No doubt bitcoin is at the top since this one is the first cryptocoin made and been adopted well by many of us. And bitcoin create to much noise that's why we can see it getting more demands on it so we expect that it will pump if this adoption continuously rise and we cannot say that bitcoins will rise until 2 months time frame since the dip goes hard with it and their is a current Korean issue killing the trust of wake hands and doubting minded guys.

BTC can reach 20 000$ in few days,this is not big problem-but how to keep it in that level is quite another thing.Strength of BTC should be in small people around the world,and in this moment they are in some way excluded because they can not pay high fees and they transaction get stuck for weeks.When that problem be solved, people will start to buy/sell use more BTC and money will flow again in BTC.

We see that it is impossible to even keep 16 000-17 000$ levels,whales always dump their coins and reverting us back.I think this year shoud be more focus on scalability and to regulation of cryptocurrency in world,until these issues are resolved price can just be pumped up and then go down again.

 perhaps like what happened before when bitcoin becomes popular all over the internet we see the price touch down the all time high price for the first time. However maybe that is the specific ways to increase the valued of bitcoin again which is we need to spread the good information about it and advertise bitcoin through our different social media account to attract some of the big companies to invest in bitcoin.

the bitcoin ban FUD is not known to be affecting bitcoin price for long or big. the biggest news was the Chinese bitcoin ban FUD which only lasted about a week. and although we currently are within the same amount of time but I think the biggest reasons are still the rise itself which required a correction time like this and also the unacceptably high transaction fees.

with that said there has been a drop in number of transactions in mempool although the size is still the same so I think they have at least slowed down the spam attack for now.

I think bitcoin as a minimum will once again test the mark of $ 20,000 and go even higher and we all will see it this year)) those who bought at such heights then wait of course.

In current times there is no need for anyone to spam the network. The increased usage and wild price swings make people transact back and forth like crazy, and thus this can be seen as free network cluttering for those who would otherwise spam the network themselves. The only thing we can blame certain miners for, is minting near empty blocks. Today it were BTC.TOP and Antpool who minted both a near empty block, which is just ridiculous in current times. People and services are desperately waiting for confirmations, and these bastards just troll everyone by making them wait longer, and further clutter the network. In the last few days Antpool minted four near empty blocks, which has become a frequent practice for them.

I think more countries making bitcoin legal will start the recovery process and what will make the value even go higher is the coming of the lightning network...just hope it’s not to far because we desperately need a fix for bitcoin to be used as an everyday currency.

Only the increase in Investors make this happen. If the investor or buyer of bitcoin is increased, automatically the bitcoin price also increased.It's just like a asset need. If the need of any assets is increased, automatically the price of asset also increased. So this only make the bitcoin value equal to 20,000$.

The update we are all waiting is for the devs to tell to us that the lightning network is finally ready and that we can get cheap transactions once again, but we do not know when that is going to happen.

We can't really do anything that much about it. Bitcoin is naturally volatile since its demand from the market also changes a lot and same thing happens on its market value. What to do is to hold and just take advantage of the backdrops. Its market value will eventually increase now that it is becoming more popular and the demand is getting higher so postive news will come for Bitcoin this year.

Honestly, i think that reaching $20k again will be a longgg journey, i do not know why, but a lot of people are now switching to other altcoins in order to make more profit that just by holding bitcoin. It is a good thing, but in fact, it is a bad thing for bitcoin

Agree and we should embrace every flaws of bitcoin especially its volatility as it's the one that can give us a good profit. Remember in the mid of 2017, bitcoin just play in $2k+ and suddenly it rose as so we can expect this thing to happen again. Bare in mind that history repeats itself so just hold on tight to bitcoin.

To me it feels close and doesn't think it will take a long time to reach at $20k.
Indeed at nowadays seems so many people are moving and looks more focusing on Altcoins, but still.. I'm still sure there are still many people who are still buying Bitcoin for investment, the more people who are still close to all activities related to Bitcoin considering the growing of the countries that has been legalize Bitcoin. It is extremely difficult to see it happen during this month, maybe we are going to see those prices again on February of this year, but for me, the only way in that it can go back towards $20k is just if the block size gets increased, or just if the fees go back to $6 again.

A solution of the scalability problem. The fees were high enough half a year ago, in December they became insane. Now the situation is slowly improving, but any new surge of interest will congest the network again. But I have a feeling that such solution is not going to appear soon. The current demand has a great effects on bitcoin price, I believe the last quarter of 2017 decrease in demand of bitcoin due to many conversion made by holders in preparation for the holiday season and because of that the value suddenly drops.
I think if investors will take the opportunity while bitcoin value is low surely the demand will increase again as well as the value can bring back to $19500.

I think those people sending FUD about bitcoin in this forum have realized that bitcoin will always fail them. If those FUDs will stop, panic sellers will never coexist too. The time for bitcoin to rise has already initiated and we are now on 11K USD mark.

Bitcoin's price reached $20k back in December 2017 because of the popularity it gained over the past years wherein even your cab driver knew about BTC. There were mixed news all over the mainstream media during its growth - Countries banning/adopting Bitcoin, hard forks, bubbles, new millionaires thru crypto, hacked exchanges, kidnapping, robberies, scalability issues, etc. I believe that people's trust and belief in bitcoin's technology to have the potential to become the future financial system and Lightning Network development, will help BTC's price to reach another all time high within this year.

For sure the price of the bitcoin will increase and reach again at $20,000 but we need unity like simple keeping your bitcoin and keeping buying to reach our target price again .
