But seeing as how Mint is also a debian variant, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. If you are trying to steer clear of Ubuntu like I am, try it on just plain old Debian Wheezy. It's the same commands as you're used to with Mint. But to get the funcitonality of Mint with all of the media working "out of the box", you'll have to install all the packages for it including the restricted extras. Just my 2 cents though.
