Title: CoinSecure - Bitcoin Prices in INR [ReWorked]
Post by: Benson Samuel on August 14, 2013, 11:19:00 AM
So... Added some cool features and changed the UI of the application.
http://coinsecure.in/

Features
  • Added live ticker prices from relevant pricing sources.
  • Added 4 themes for templated use. Custom/ Sponsored themes can be added for a fee.
  • Simple URL Params with documentation.

Instructions

Select the required options and click on the 'Get my ticker' button.
Right click on the image that appears and copy the url.

To add the ticker to your forum post, just click the insert image icon on top of this box and paste the URL inside it.
Not sure if it works on FB, Twitter, etc. But it should. Will also work on anyone's website, etc. Can be custom theme'd based on your website requirement.
The price will update based on the current exchange rate. Approx 5 - 10 min delay is to be expected.

Looks like too many requests to Coinbase. Thats why it isnt working.

Either going to change the method of request or add a timer function.

The image should show in some time..

Damn cool.. I think the entire text block needs to move to the left. Will do that and check.

Will fix the lag shortly. Using a nice tip from buysellbitco.in

No more time interval :)
Prices will update every 5 mins or 10 mins.. Not sure which works best.

Edit:
Its nippy fast and prices update on the clock every 5 minutes. Thanks to buysellbitcoin. :)

One more thing you can fix it in the tickr is that
instead of want to sell you can can edit with selling
so it will be like that
selling 1 btc at xxxx inr
same for buying.
I think then it will be better for both buyers and sellers.

I tried that and the theme star is colliding with the amount. More of a UI crutch at the moment.

Would be glad to create a custom ticker with your custom url, logo, layout and background for free as a promo. :)

Lemme know.

Good work mate. The ticker looks good and does what it is supposed to do. However, in this part of the world, it is extremely slow. Even the image that loads on the posts are slow.
I see that the site is hosted in Singapore. My suggestion would be to set it up behind cloudflare or other cdn.

Also try optimizing the image size of the themes. Themes are secondary features as compared to the primary feature of showing the btc price itself.
If possible, have a default theme which is based on CSS color rather than a image.

Just my 2 satoshis.

P.S : If you need hosting, then let me know and i will be willing to provide something on my servers.

Otherwise everything looks good.

Cloudflare is up. Hope it helps.

The image is just 38Kb.. Not sure why the delay.. will try different outputs and see if I can get something smaller.

okie. That was quick. Visit the link below to have a look.
Now it shows, the site load time around 1.5 seconds (in new york). You can change the locations.

When i checked earlier, it was hovering somewhere between 3 - 4 seconds.

Coinsecure now has a global non-auth API for those who want to display the prices easily on their website.

Trader buy prices
http://coinsecure.in/buyprices.json

Example output: [{"USDINR":"61.404889"},{"coinsecure":6200.7728427513},{"gox":6814.7133531222},{"buysellbitcoin":"6711.00"},{"coinbase":6027.50390424},{"btc-e":5926.001622723},{"bitstamp":6034.87249092}]

Trader sell prices
http://coinsecure.in/sellprices.json

Example output: [{"USDINR":"61.404889"},{"coinsecure":6186.8806006639},{"gox":6791.3819514978},{"buysellbitcoin":"5573.00"},{"coinbase":6004.17004642},{"btc-e":5902.360740458},{"bitstamp":6049.60966428}]

Edit: Temporary location of API. Will soon be moved to /api/

americandesi just let me know that the btc-e prices were down, which affected the coinsecure.in rate setter. Apologies for that.
Would be nice to get some suggestions here.

* Coinsecure prices are based on the average of Gox, Coinbase, Btc-e and Bitstamp.
* How do I set the price if one of the exchanges from that list faces downtime?
  - Remove that exchange and set the average based on the others?
  - Set a floor price for coinsecure?
  - Change the exchange prices to reflect the average price from Indian vendors rather than the global exchange rate.

Any other suggestions?

1 rupee is worth 1750 Satoshi's

Coinsecure now displays the worth of a rupee in Satoshi's.

The countdown to 1 rupee a Satoshi has begun.
I can easily see a 10 rupee Satoshi come into existence very soon.  ::)

hey benson! great site design and features. i signed up with coinbase today. useraname is 'manutdfan'.
did the 2factor authentication then moved to 'account initiation'.

but no matter how many times i try and whichever browser i try (and i've tried all of them) i just cannot submit my details for a/c verification.

is the 'submit' button dead? it won't even highlight when i hover over it nor does it lead to any link. pls look into it.
