Simply talking ICO stands Initial Coin Offering. Where a team is introducing a new coin which is a project on crypto currencies they carry on a marketing campaign to aware the community about the new coin. When the coin is released, it has a initial value, as an example XYZ coin might have a value of 0.01 USD at the time of releasing. But the developers allow the community to purchase coins before they launch it for a lower rate or with bonus offerings. If you found a good project, you can get a profit simply buy selling those coin in a exchange or hold for higher profit.

One liner for this: Initial Coin Offering.

It is a public or private offering of a new coin in which investors pay with fiat or an existing coin (normally Ethereum or Bitcoin) and receive a certain quantity of the new coin. For example, I am going to launch the "Rabbit Coin" and I make a public offer for anyone who wants to buy it at 1 BTC for 100 Rabbitcoins. (RBC)

Most of ICOs are really ITOs, Initial Token Offerings really.

You are new in the world of crypto and you already bought coins that you just read on social site? Well its pretty risky for you and hope that you will keep on learning no matter what. ICO is a great way to make money for some businesses and people, to make it simple and short ICO is a way to introduce new project in this cryptoworld its a fund sourcing to fully operate the business. Be careful on joining ICO because not all ico's are good.

ICO Extension of Initial Coin Offering. Initial means the earliest, Coin means digital token / coin and Offering means bidding, when interpreted in its entirety means the earliest coin offerings before being launched into the free market.

Disadvantages of ICO
Behind the profits there must be disadvantages that come to him. Because ICO is investing in nature then we spend money and give to third parties and the money may not be used according to the agreement when the ICO is carried away without any explanation that is clear or more familiar with SCAM.
Several things become the problem of SCAM when the ICO is not clear project, the purpose of collecting funds made by developers and teams that are not clear or not plastered. Usually this will be explained in the whitepaper.

ICO = Initial Coin Offering. It is a synonym of TGE = Token Generating Event. It is just a process of issuing project tokens which are sold to the investors. Investors can hold tokens and hope that price will go to the moon, or use them when the product is released.

Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is an unconventional method for raising funds for companies (mostly startups). It is basically a coin creation which the company is selling for a certain amount of time for a fixed price. As the method is considered profitable, many companies adopted this idea and started creating ICO's themselves for the sole purpose of capital accumulation. As more and more companies employed ICO's, so did the risk associated with them increased. Nevertheless, ICO's remain as an undeniably efficient method for fund raising. For example, I'm currently investing in the following ICO's:
1. LiveEdu - an ICO project learning platform where content creators teach learners how to build real products.
2. Swissborg - a wealthtech offering Swiss-made crypto investment solutions to the world
3. Restart Energy - An ICO project able to virtually store electrical energy.
I'm currently considering a substantial investment in the following:
1. Bountie - An ICO focusing on altering the future of the gaming industry in a positive manner
2. Cointed (CTD) - an ongoing ICO project formed by the alliance between Cointed, Nvidia, and TAS Group. It has something to do with Crypto ATMs all over Europe and Green Mining.
Any thoughts?

ICO is just a new way of starting up, instead of calling for funds online using real money, ICO use cryptocurrencies to ask for fund, they giving their project to the world, asking for funds from investors such as bitcoin, ethereum or Neo,.. in exchange they give the investors their tokens to use if the ICO success and appear on exchanges. so with this when the tokens can get to exchanges, the price will high so the investors can sell for profit or hold for long term rising.

ICO is an acronym for Initial Coin Offering.  It is a method on which funds are raised for new currency ventures.  It is also called coin creation or coin launching.  It is sold for investors who want to support the project in exchange of rights or legal tender of cryptocurrencies.   ICO are usually introduced into public together with the whitepaper explaining everything and all about a certain projects.  In ICO, tokens are offered in exchange to cryptocurrency such a bitcoin or ether or flat.  The fund gathered will be used for the implementation of the project.  In return, the tokens that was given to the investors will serve as their investment on the project where they can also sell it after the ICO if they want but the value is much higher compared to its value during ICO . From that concept, investors will sure earn from their investment.

Initial coin offering- ICO. It is usually used in cryptocurrency business or projects/program. It is an introduction of the token to the public. It is the first contact that an investor has with the crypto company or token/coin . Therefore, it is usually cheaper in price than acquiring it when it has been listed in an exchange.

Ico is just like when a company is selling her shares to the public.

ICO stands for Initial Coin Offering used to gather funds or raise money to finance a project also known as first token sale.  The new token issued in the ICO become functional currency if the ICO funding is met (hard cap) and the project launches.  The risk in ICO is somewhat high because the coin can either be non value or priced value.  Sometimes it is advisable to study carefully the white presented by the token developer in order to know the viability of the project that could mean a successful token sale.

That is only a limited part of the possibilities of ICOs. They may be offering coins, tokens and sometimes it is for a new coin, but many times is to fund a new company or service. Profit long or short term are not really guaranteed ever.

ICO is the primary collection of money for a company.
That is, the company has an idea, but there is no money for its implementation.
Therefore, they collect money in return to give tokens, which, as far as the implementation of the project, can grow in value or in general they can be exchanged for a share of the company's shares.
You should not invest anywhere, then you will not lose your money.
Study in detail the white paper, the website, the manual, and only then decide

Easiest way to explain ICO
This company "Babahaha" has came up with an idea and the problem they face is money issue.
So they need to raise funds so they need people to contribute in return you get tokens to keep and those tokens has benefit for early contributors.
You can be
Long term investors - keeping the token knowing their benefit and stuff you study about the company.
Short term investors - knowing the surface and sell it when it hit the exchange
So always know what is the ICO about before paying or submitting your KYC if needed

ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering. It means that someone offers investors some units of a new cryptocurrency or crypto-token in exchange against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. Since 2013 ICOs are often used to fund the development of new cryptocurrencies. The pre-created token can be easily sold and traded on all cryptocurrency exchanges if there is demand for them.

So they start to sell tokens - it's like stocks - that buyers will be able to use in the future to get some services of the project or just sell for bigger amount of money

ICO means Initial Coin Offer, a form of capital raising so that companies with blockchain and cryptocurrency based projects can carry out their projects.
It is similar to an Initial Public Offer (IPO) which is the initial way that the companies of the stock market use to enter the market. Obviously, the rules, regulations and restrictions of ICOs are not uniform and practically do not exist when compared to IPOs

Initial Coin Offering or ICO is the starting companies way to resource funds for them to start the development of a certain project. There's public and private sale in which you can participate, but to be able to eligible in these sales you need to be whitelited first and comply in their KYC (know your customer) phase. KYC is the part where a participating applicant needs to send a Picture, Government IDs or any proof of identification and address confirmation also. ICO's is one of the many ways to earn in the cryptoverse. Do your own research before investing in one, alot of scams are there right now.

ICO (initial coin offering) is the phase where the developed coin is being offered to the investors, most of the time if the ICO hits the softcap the project would have a clear path in the future, but hitting hardcap would be better as the developers would have a lot of funds to be use in the development of the coin, most of the ICOs nowaways are being created because of the money,so we need to be careful of picking these ICOs.

ICO is the abbreviation of Initial Coin Offering. It means that someone offers investors some units of a new cryptocurrency or crypto-token in exchange against cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum. If i say simply before launching the project they issue some token percentage to the market in a lower amounts with additional bonus. There are two types of ICO's that is private sale and public sale. But you have to be very careful about scam ICO's and but majority of them are real.  Before investing any ICO's we should properly go through their white paper and then we can get the clear idea about the project. These days there is a good ICO called "Arcblock" and their public sale will start on Feb 3rd, 2018, 7pm CST.

The company build a projects and have developer, advisors and investor of course to starting the business. When "The Coin" released it has a initial value and will be launch in crypto market

For the example, Arcblock has a good prospect and I want to buy "The Coin" named ABT before launch so I can buy with lower rate and bonus offering from the company. When ICO release in market then the price will be going up.

ICO is an unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture. An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is used by startups to bypass the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists or banks. In an ICO campaign, a percentage of the cryptocurrency is sold to early backers of the project in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies.

In addition, ICO for fundraising, to run the project. That's what I know.
By getting involved in ICO, there are some benefits that can be gained.

An Initial Coin Offering, also commonly referred to as an ICO, is a fundraising mechanism in which new projects sell their underlying crypto tokens in exchange for bitcoin and ether. It’s somewhat similar to an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in which investors purchase shares of a company.
ICO is a form of token that the coin developers give to every that campaigned for the launching of the coin. After the campaign, a percentage of the coin is distributed to all  who campaigned. Someone can sell it off or keep it.

ICO is a place to make money in the modern era, because we only invest in ICO and wait until ICO we invest in exchange and the price increases and we sell to get a big profit, compared we invest in elsewhere.

ICO or Initial Coin Offering is one way a company raise money or capital for their project. They sell or offer investors some units of their new cryptocurrency or token at a discount in exchange for Bitcoin, Ethereum or fiat. This is often used to fund the development of new cryptocurrency. If that cryptocurrency succeeds, investors will make a profit. If the ICO goal is met, the project launches and the token will become functional units of currency.

Technically, it can be in exchange for anything, as you can send fiat to many of the ICOs. I would only use ether because at least you have a smart contract.

I'm also new to this. I just read somewhere that ICO is when a cryptocurrency startup firm wants to raise money through this, it usually creates a plan on a whitepaper which states what the project is about, what need(s) the project will fulfill upon completion, how much money is needed to undertake the venture, how much of the virtual tokens the pioneers of the project will keep for themselves, what type of money is accepted, and how long the ICO campaign will run for. The fundamentals are pretty much about this. I hope this helps!
