Title: PCI riser assembling info
Post by: kakoluckiam on January 12, 2018, 12:07:52 PM
Hi there.
So, here is the pic

My riser arrived with this black gum glued on their bottom side.
I tryed to indicate them on the pic with the red arrows.
Do I have to remove those or are they made to stay there?
Because if I remove them, the bottom side with be touching my aluminium frame, and I don't think that's a good thing.

Just leave them there.. It will act as backplate for them.

Its there to stop the pins shorting out on metal frames.

Over time, that "black gum" glue thing will eventually peel off because of all the heat being generated by your mining rig. Like the previous poster said, its there to help keep you from accidentally shorting your rig. Even if you're not using metal frames just leave it on there because it adds protection to your riser. GPUs aren't that heavy but over time your bare risers pressing on anything hard will eventually either deform the surface its placed on or will break the riser pins at the botoom.
