Title: I'm sorry mtrlt XPM GPU miners but...
Post by: vinne81 on August 14, 2013, 07:08:29 PM
I keep posting in mtrlt's moderated thread and he keeps deleting our posts, I guess he will have no time to work on your precious GPU miner :)

All I'm asking is how many hours he worked so far, and why it isn't finished after 3 weeks. Also, why is there no speed estimate?

Yep, but I have plans for the weekend. I'll try to get as much work done as possible before that.

A 75 BTC of Champagne please :)

With crap like that, no wonder your posts are being deleted.

Whatever man. Sure, they are "donations". He got donated 75BTC to work on a miner. First he had some real life problems. Fine. Now he is "almost" finished, but he has stuff to do in the weekend. (it's wednesday) So another week will go by. How fast will it be? Doesn't know - almost finished but doesn't know.

Why can't he respond to these questions?

I had 45x 8core vps's going yesterday and only got 6 blocks.

A GPU miner will not make you rich.

It wont even turn a profit over power unless its a few hundred times faster than a single CPU.

You must not be a developer.

Translating code from one platform to another is an all-or-nothing project.  It either works, or it doesn't.  There's no "we're half way there, lets run some benchmarks".
There's also no magical progress bar that tells you how far along you are.  You could think you're 90% done but have no idea that you'll spend the next 3 days debugging a single function.
You can't know how long it'll take.  You really, simply, cannot know. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hofstadter%27s_law)
