Title: What makes a good token?
Post by: EvaGC on January 12, 2018, 06:22:09 PM
According to blockchain guru William Mougayar:

«At the heart of this question is the specific token functionality that is being concocted or delivered. I have written at length about it in Tokenomics, stressing the importance of the token role in a given project, protocol or application. Beyond having figured that out, what makes a good token is undoubtedly the team behind it, because they need to execute, iterate and deliver»

What token will you say has the best team?

(If you ask my opinion, you know I'm a Globcoin happy preacher)

The team behind a project is very important because it is not the same thing if an experienced team who has done other businesses before start an ico or if a beginner team starts an ico they have a bigger chance of not being successful because they are at the beginning and they can make mistakes.

It is not enough to be a good team if the idea of the project is not good. For example an experienced team can have a bad project wich is not meant to be successful even if the biggest investors on the planet would run it. The team is very important but there are a lot of factors that determines if a token is good or not.

To me what makes a good tokens are the teams behind the project  and they intentions. I do tried to read the white papers of what the projects stand for and the road map and the directions of the projects. We have more than a thousand story of how people run away and abandoned the projects because the teams are scammers and are out to scam other through ico. Another thing that I looked for is either the companies has been existing for long or the fund raise is what they are going to used to finance the project and this has lead to the dump of the project.

Good token decide by many factors, first we have to look what the project is about and how practical it will work in real life next is what their plan in future, for example partnership , we have to check their roadmap and white paper for better insight

first of all, a good project is the first reason why this token can be good.
then team behind the project is the second reason.
however the team if the project is not good,
there will be less interesting in other bounty hunter.
but team and project exactly is connectable.
bad project but having a good team it takes a bit lucky.

You are absolutely right, in my opinion the main key to success is played by these two components of the team and the program. It is on how well they are selected and stacked depends on the whole result.

The most profitable altcoin is the best one for me. So it must have low marketcap with good growing potential. A good team good partners good advertisements make them grow fast. And distribution of coins is also very important. It should be homogenous against manipulations.

It seems to me that a good token is a token that benefits people. Token should have advantages over others. It should benefit people who have this token in their wallets and use it.

The project and the service intended brings values to the tokens.  The team is the backbone of a team. Applications and other stuffs supporting the projects adds values.  As long g as the service intended captures the market, the value increases.

active development is the main reason why a token become good and great in the future
just look at the big project, why the project become big
the causes is they have an active development my friend  ;)

but I think most of token are not so profitable and risky, especially the one not released yet. And there are hundreds of those small tokens . Difficult to attract investors.

The thing that makes a token good is the team backing it. If the team is a bunch of random scammers, then it would lead nowhere. There are subtle hints to know how the project is. Start by evaluating the project, if it sounds overambitious it is probably a scam, on the other hand, if it seems practical, then go through the whitepaper, operating manager and other similar parameters. Once a project is rated well in these parameters, then the token turns out to be good.

I think a good token is a token that has benefits other than for exchange, for example: it can be used to shop online, pay at restaurants, play online games, play gambling, and so on.

with these benefits that will increase the attractiveness of tokens, the more benefits the higher the level of interest will be.

yes I agree with what you say, a good team will bring good results on the project, in addition the team must be experienced, because without the support of the project team will be destroyed. because a successful project will bring good things to the token.

In my opinion, a good token should have a good projects , supporters and team inside. Actually, projects and its team was decide where the token will go.
Because all supporters are just keep the faith to them, if any issue or news, team should go to the group and tell them, so no one will trying to make any FUD

of course their team that will make their token good
if they are solid and professional to do what they planned, i think the trust from the community will come automatically and will make the price rise too

The project will be successful in this case, if the team will adhere to the road map. For example, listing on good exchanges, a large community, a finished product, etc.

A good token is created in a good community, by a good pool of funds, and a huge development from the team, that is ALL what a project needs to have a good token, and of course, to maintain the price to do not make it plumet to the bottom

A good token is also trustworthy token. Transparency of a good team is required. Its difficult to build trust on a coin whose developer and whole team is not visible.  A token should also have partnerships to valuable services that gives discounts.

Subjectively, Elysian has the best token due to its various use case scenarios. Besides, they have a great team and they've built a healthy relationship between them and their stakeholder. Thier bounty campaign manager is also doing a great job.

only pumping potential is important.

we are all looking for profit so why are we pretending otherwise? the only token that is considered good is a token that can get pumped hard and fast so that it can give you the biggest profit possible in the shortest time possible.
otherwise there is no usability, there is no development, or any innovation left anymore. they are all useless virtual tokens that are doomed to die and disappear in the long run.

I believe the fundamental of the token is the very best thing to observe when you are checking to buy. For me the simpler it is, the more appreciable the token for potential growth the token has. Look at Bitcoin itself, it remains on the top even if the market situation is not that good because of it's fundamentals. No more complication it's the most basic cryptocurrency after all. I believe if one can create another token as simple as it is i think it will be another hit.

When writing the opinion about developers team, we usually look at known names. However, there are often less well-known people, and they are good at what they do. I think that when it comes to currently active ICO, Metronome has the best dev team. It's also worth to get to know the BitScreener team - they are really good specialists - they know what they are doing!  ;)

Undoubtedly that the first of all good token is made by the team, also the idea behind this token is important, it should be something new and necessary for the market at the same time. Also, exchanges on which this coin listed is important because the larger the exchange the more valuable this coin is.

A good token which actually is useful to people in some way or another. Some of the characteristics of a good token is that it's a new idea, helping people and much more. But these days, seriously shit tokens are coming which have no practical use or are short lived like music app, sex videos and so on. People have made it a business of gathering money through ICO due to which many unprofessional people have also entered the market which indicates that we need to be careful before investing in any new ICO.

If i am to answer?the token can be good as what other successful one is the Team behind this and the Truthfulness about the project, reliability and accessibility as well.

Because the only thing that makes a coin or token becomes bad when the peop created this are only aiming for Profit and not to help people

I agree that the team plays the biggest part and in my own opinion and as a supporter of the project - INS is my own pick when it comes to a good token. It will have use in real world wherein you can use it to purchase groceries and other stuffs and the good thing is they will have their own blockchain in the future. Well, I don't know the date yet but waiting patiently for it.

Absolutely i'm supporting of your words about ins token Ecosystems project are very successful, one of the reason project got success if the team members gives their best and efforts for the client or investor and have word of promise. INS are indamand beacuse this project is very useful for the household needs.

depend on what platform being used. but I think low fee and fast transaction. have many user is the most important part of a good token

For me the good token should be feasible to the masses so that many investors will invest into it and for sure it will become very successful when it arrive the Crypto market. There are lot of ICO that are now being presented in crypto investments but some of them failed to show their qualities of a good token as their commodities are not feasible to the people so better they should plan it well before presenting it to the investors.

Agree. There are teams that play their respective roles. Besides that, has a partner who has been famous, the cooperation, transparency, what they are aiming for, and seriousness in developing their products is very important to make the project big success and token have a high value.

Good day! I would choose a token for its developers, the team first and foremost. And the usage of the token. Does the team plan to put it on exchange after ICO? Will there be coin burning? More partnerships? That's the things we need to consider on looking for a good token on my point of view.

Youre right its t credibility and reliability of every single person on the team of every project that will make this token valuable, because no matter how good is the project but the team behind this is greed and non trustworthy this will becomes failure thats why i always look on this part tol,and the white paper to check before investing

Here is whats makes a good token :
1. The use of the token : what the token can do example : essentia token. Essentia will be used on their platform for operating the network and we can make masternodes from it so we can conteibute to mak the network faster.
2. Is the platform for the token really usefull and the platform is needed for some bussiness or community. Example : Hyperquant will be used for bot marketplace and many people need bot for trading.

It depends on the token, i like to see the project behind, personally i like real estate backed tokens and some other that are coming up with trading platforms like tokenbox and covesting etc.

I think to see or saying a good token would be base on the project and the developer on how they work it and establish it publicity so that it would sound and smells good to those big investors. To think investors are always catching for the better project and a better token to run out to the crypto world.

I agree that what makes a good token are the people behind the project and how they catch the interest of the investors. Mostly through a good marketing strategy and a good relationship toward its community are best way to make a good token.

  • Token distribution;Try to figure out what their token sales strategy is first. Generally speaking, 30% is fair. If there are “discounts” that means there is an uneven playing field, and the fact they need incentives to attract buyers could be the subtle clue that drives my decision making process. However, discounts aren’t necessarily a negative sign, as a lock-in period can make up for that.

  • The team behind the token;
I want to see at least one person on the team who has technical experience relevant to cryptocurrency, blockchain, decentralization, or something else related to one of these topics. I recently read a white paper whose founder touted that his CTO was “Cisco and Microsoft Certified.” This guy may well have had these certifications, and could have been a rock star at doing whatever it is that people who have Cisco and Microsoft certifications do, but I don’t understand how that particular technical expertise translates into cryptocurrency, blockchain and/or decentralization expertise.

  • A really great token allows you to do something unique, something that requires a database to be kept but where that data is not changed at every tiff and turn. A bank account is a great example of a database that works well on blockchain, because the data is a record of transactions. So, although the data changes, you need to keep a record of those changes.

What makes a good token are
1. A good token has to be a solution to some problem in world. Taking the fact that world is runned centralized and blockchain has decentralization as a feature, a good token has to substitute centralization.
2. The Development Team of the token.
3. The Total supply of the token as well as the distribution process.

IOST has got a pretty good team, they have the best coders working round the clock to provide the best platform for building dAPPS.
A team doesn't only involve the devs and PR team but the investors too.How much the investors can hold during such low times.IOST has managed pretty well despite the high amount of circulation.

So yea, IOST has the best team!

if the token is not needed in the blockchain then i'd say it does not matter who the team is because it does't need to be in the blockchain to accomplish their goals but if it's something that has a use case and solves a problem along with a great team, then i definitely see potential but you still have to look at the competition as well :)
