I am fairly new to crypto. About 6 months ago I purchased about 1000 XRP and just kind of moved on with other hobbies I had. Well about a month ago I woke and seen what it had done.

It seems that all my spare time for the last month has gone to crypto.

Currently this is my portfolio

100,000 html
22,000 electra
1,500 opcoin
500,000 paccoin
35,000 linda
2,840 ebch
1,000 xrp

I have about $2,000 to invest in other coins. I would like to put 1000 in one coin. I would say token but all the info ive read about tokens is not good but my conclusions on those articles could be false.

Ive searched for a month to invest 1000 in one coin but cannot seem to pull the trigger. I could say i know what to look for but i do not have a lot of experience in this field and do not want to lose that much. Can I afford to yes but im sure no one wants to loose that much.

I am looking for a coin that a lot of potential in 2018. Something that could go from 0.01 to 1.00 or 1.00 to 100.00 Maybe i am crazy but ive seen a lot of coins sky rocket. On the coincap app ive seen coins with 100,000 plus % increase. How does that happen and what exactly should I be looking for to achieve 0.01 to 1.00 or 1.00 to 100.00

Take a look at XtraBytes XBY or SHIFT coin it might next big thing

Checkout LIFE or SPHTX. Both have massive potential in 2018, IMO.

I personally suggest always invest in multi coins but only the coins which have huge community and in trending or just start its journey towards moon.One more thing i always try to buy cheap coin as if it jump to moon and you have get large amount of the coin then you can get huge profit. i will give the example of Verge XVG as two months ago it was very cheap now its price is 1000 time more than September or OCT 2017. so must search and think for it too.

What coins that are low with big community are you looking at or suggest?

Towards the beginning of 2017 shift exploded. Almost 10 dollars now? What changed to have the much growth?

I recommend: BitcoinZ, SmartCash or DeepOnion.

BitcoinZ is rising, DeepOnion has an excelent project, including airdrops.

Don't look for get rich quick coins.

Hold the big ones. They will not make 10x in 1 week but your investment will be safe. And in the long term they will increase much more then the hype coins.

If you want more coins to your portfolio look for the ones at the top, read the whitepapers, do your own research.

Some coins I suggest you research about: IOTA, EOS, ADA, XLM, NEO.
Also, think about increasing your ETH position.

Just my personal opinion. But, the golden rule: do your own research.

Take a deeper look into shift and you will see.
Current cap is nothing comparing to real potential of this coin.
SHIFT solves problem for decentralized web hosting (for instance SiaCoin is just a file hosting and currently around 2Bil Marketcap),
so i see at least 10x potential for growth

Deeponion is too much trouble. and the trust in bitcointalk has gone down. I recommend choosing a coin which is indeed without any problems and indeed potentially great will have an increase. xrp or xlm is a coin that does have great potential up

And what about Substratum? It's on top 100, Shift it's on top 300.
They're trying to do the same and looks like SUB has more support.

Sia isn't just a file hosting, they implemented a system where you can rent your unused hard disk space. You can't rent the hard disk space you're not using and earn money for that. That's why they are where they are. Because they innovated. But they're not the only one working on that but they are the strongest one.

Shift it's not the only one trying to solve the problem of web hosting.

It's a good idea to compare identical projects...

I think Oyster Pearl (PRL) and Aigang (AIX) will perform very well in 2018. Just as a suggestion for your portfolio.

Spectre, verge and intense coin in anonymous sector. Usability Electroneum and lite coin.
Platform coins Waves and tron. This are my speculative bets for alts of now. Apart form lite coin all the other coins still havent seen the big boom yet.

I would say STRAK is a better option, already shown growth and by Feb end it is getting listed in HitBTC so definitely the price will go up like anything.

why you trust some strangers to choose, did you know that researching on your own is best way to decide where to invest? :D

Secondly buy Qvolta (QVT) only on it you can make a profit x5
The previous ones are even better
And don`t forget about a Firts Blood (1st)

Agreed on this alcoins. I will closely monitor this so I can buy few to diversify my investments.

As shown above in the original thread post. I stated i was looking. Nothing about this post says tell me what to buy. There are 1500 altcoins. forgive me for not being able research over 1000 coins. There are thousands of members here. The the whole point of bitcoin talk. TALK is the key word.

And the potential to be giant is always there with that crew. Read White Paper and y dont hawe to think anymore  8)

I think Trend tokens have a quite impact for 2018 because you know all people are already going in to the trends. Trend token came from Trendit the only ICO that gives the user the chance to earn by just doing some challenges and doing trends.
