The year 2017 was the year bitcoin with $1000 and ended with almost $20,000.

Will it be wise and reasonable to say that this year will be ethereum year looking at what is happening now in the exchange floor?

I am also viewing Ethereum this year as you. The awareness of aEthereum as the potent of the cryptoecosystem is unfolding. So the value will soar.

Ethereum will have a massive breakout year this I am confident of as well but does it have to come at the expense of bitcoin? People are trying to always battle them against one another but they can both have success without the flippening occuring. I mean cmon not only one coin is going to have success here!

The price of ETH should be close to bitcoin this year, because ETH is technically over bitcoin. However, the application of eth is more and more extensive.

We can even see decline in BTC price but eth is simply going forward and breaking new ATH. Yes I do agree this is the year for Ethereum, many new ICOs will lunch this year which creates good buy wall, exchanges will and some offer already trading pairs with ETH because it's cheaper in terms of fees and fast transactions.  Vitalik is a really hard working dude who will do everything he can do make this a reality.  When you look at bitcoin on the other hand it is unstable,  to many forks and people being like children and fighting over BTC and BCH. Bitcoin is losing dominance lvl it is at around 30% and few months down the road it was at around 50% market cap dominance. This is the year of Ethereum in fact and other altcoins. Bitcoin will soon even trade for far less.


This is my opinion,  you don't have to agree if you don't think the same.

Yeah,I think so,the price of ethereum may hit upto $3000 in this year due to the availability of ethereum is high when compared to bitcoins but surely there will be a chance of getting surpass the market cap value of bitcoin.Already ethereum price is climbing up and it is a sign that this year will be ethereum's year.So it is wise to invest on ethereum as soon as possible.

I'm also betting a lot bigger on ETH than BTC. Even for 2017 ETH still did a lot better than BTC, pulling an x100 while BTC did x15 or so.

It's obvious that ETH is much better than BTC now. But I don't think that we should expect huge growth like x20 or more. The market cap is already very high, so we can see ETH going up to $5000-6000 during the year.

Bitcoin is the king in the crypto market and the second crypto currency is  ethereum, there is still potential for the bitcoins  to increase its value above $ 40000  by this year and there are chances for the ethereum to rise its price by this year.

These crypto-currencies are completely different, so it's hard to say that ETH is a BTC competitor. I think they will develop in parallel and, possibly, as a result, Ethereum will overtake bitcoin in terms of market capitalization.

Yes, Ethereum will definitely bubble in 2018 but we may not see a sudden unusual growth, instead there will be a steady growth in the entire 2018. In the end it will be around 4k or 5k.

The main increase in prices Ethereum was at the end of 2017. Therefore we can say that 2017 was a success for all cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin has lost its value because the speed of transaction confirmation and the price was great for small users. I think 2018 will be as successful to bitcoin. Only need to wait for its modernization. I am sure that it will happen this year.

If not now, definitely in the future I think. ETH will definitely trump over BTC IMO.

But it's funny how everytime BTC dips and ETH goes up, some people (mostly newbies and crypto newcomersrs) say the same thing. Although it's not the first time it happens, we had the same scenario last year were BTC and ETH had "almost" the same dominance in the market (37% btc, 30% eth), long story short: nothing happened and ETH remains #2.

ETH will have a great year, but rather than saying "2018 will be the year of X crypto", I prefer saying it will be the year of cryptocurrencies as a whole.

I am agree with that 2018 will be good for ethereum. It was also a good experience in the end of 2017 that ethereum was at its new heights. In 2018 it will going to break its records and that will be profitable for its investors. Lets see what will going to happen next.

i think yes, last year has been a wonderful year of bitcoin, so in this 2018, i hope for the really big pumps from whales into Ethereum, recently is the good sign of ethreum, it has risen its value to nearly 50% in 1 month, so from now to the end of 2018, we may see ethereum pumped many times, so you better invest in ETH now.

I have been reading ethereum roadmap 2.0 and economic whitepaper of casper network that makes ethereum will become a coin with hybrid system. It will be reasonable at all if you are seeing the fact that ethereum adoption grow a lot. People are realizing how important the tech development for the future usage. 2018 will be the year of ethereum.

Yes this is possible, if we study performances of both cryptocurrencies there are chances. Bitcoin is around $13000 after crossing $19500 mark. Ethereum has reached $1300 mark. Bitcoin & ethereum works on same platforms. Coming years are difficult for bitcoin due to many reasons. Bitcoin currency has become too volatile as a result common investor prefers staying away from it. Bitcoin`s transaction charges and transaction has increased a lot. Many countries already banned bitcoin and many are planning to ban or regulate bitcoin for security reasons. As a result of all these reasons bitcoin investors are shifting their investments from bitcoin to much cheaper and stable currency Ethereum.

everything is possible rigth now. BTC are took damage bu altcoins so hardly  last month. I hope it will replace again and it keeps increase again. Bitcoin is main coin in crypto world if it take damage other coin will take damage for long term.

Bitcoin has been very remarkable in 2017 after hitting its all time highest value of $20000 but this 2018 the price drops and haven't back to its previous highest for almost a month now while ethereum and some alts start pumping ang hitting the market well I should say ethereum owns 2018 spotlight though its too early for now to predicts but if bitcoin will not pump harder in the coming days I don't think the market gap will ever change

That's right a lots of new updates coming from this project and people really love seeing how it this coin performed so we can see a lots of rise regarding to its value, better to invest as it will bring more progress along the way, bitcoin is struggling and alts are moving actively so after this corrections we will
see how big ETH can be just wait for btc to recover.

Not sure if the Ether will take over whole market but it really looks like that its moving upwards smoothly. When ether started going up in the December month then it attracted many customers and investors and thus ultimately the market capitalism grew slowly. Then, it started the chain of investment and we are seeing the market cap that achieved today. Hope that this will continue ahead and we will see some toughened race. Thats important because when there is race there is competition of investment and it will rise the market hugely. :-) Perfect year for the ETH I believe too.

Ethereum does have a few pumps on the price chart though Bitcoin is going much higher than Ethereum in price terms.
Bitcoin should still be the coin for 2018.

I also think eth will have the bigger 2018 than btc. Btc will still do great but not as good as 2017. I think eth will be worth $5k near the end of the year.

I want to remind everyone Price is not the only factor,
Most important is where how and how much coins are in use, Bitcoin is not only for 2017 Bitcoin is forever and don't expect ethrum to grow up and bitcoin not, if bitcoin fails than each and every coin will be impacted by that. We need volume, demands and uses price will automatically skyrocket. Bitcoin price is in thus level because of its Uses, Demand, limited supply and global acceptance. Same thing we expect with ETH and it will happen together with Bitcoin.

Yes I believe that too. Last year not only bitcoin did great but eth had a great potential too. Now in 2018 I believe that eth will blow up and go high.

Analaysts says this year will be alts years,so expect BTC's sideways rather than bullish or bearish markets.Well 1year ago BTC was $1000 which makes ethereum has chance to do what BTC did last year.

I think this is possible, and I believe there are a lot of people betting that this will happen. I am even with high expectations for this, for me get some profit ( who knows, let's wait ). But I hope the problems with transactions do not occur.

Yeah no doubt that 2017 is the year of bitcoin from $1000 - almost $20000 and it is just happen on that year, because way back the bitcoin didnt pump huge like that. and now at this year im also hoping that bitcoin can pump hugely again for me to earn profits because i totally miss the ride lol. yes it is reasonable to say that this 1st quarter of 2018 is for ethereum like you can see in exchange ethereum has a biggest change from the last year and it cost $1400 lately and still counting on, although theres a little bit decrease happens, but it always increase than to decrease.

It's true but the more project uses its platform the more it getting mess and now ether delta is always congested and many transactions got compromised. Hope this upcoming hard fork will resolve some issues and in line of its constantly price increase. Nevertheless, I'm a believer of eth so I always wanted that its platform will always goes smoothly.

Yeah, it is a good opportunity to the ethereum that play a great role in the industry so that the price will coming up. But i doubt that the ethereum can surpass the bitcoin. Bitcoin now was still spreading the nlknowledge and everyday there's new user that got interested in the bitcoin and there's too many advertising. That's why i doubt that the ethereun can do it

Not only 2017 is the year of bitcoin. Every year is the year of bitcoin and ETH is also moving good for the past year and there will be more of it to come.  For this year, its not only the year of ETH. There are too many good coins to choose and generally speaking, it's the year of crypto's.

its true ethereum will go to the sky now for sure it will be the greatest coin ever now. this good that there is an altcoin could match bitcoin. hope this fork will bring something good to alt market. its do sad that the market still keep bleeding despite the development of ethereum.

Hey amigo... what are your basis? I am not here to bash or to dirty talk, but can you kindly cite some news regarding ETH and why should I believe that this will fly this year?

I know haters gonna hate this, but I am expecting BCH to rocket this year due to it's availability soon in Southeast Asia via coins.ph; The transaction fee is lower compared to my pre-loved BTC that's why this may cause attractions to users. (coins.ph is used to pay bills, just so you know).

If you can show something that supports your statement about ETH, I will swap my BCH to ETH asap.

The value of bitcoin last year 2017 is rapidly rising to $20,000 now the price is $16-$17k  unstable.

ETH started 2018 strong. BTC is still struggling now being traded around 13k. I used to trade my crypto with BTC pair now I switched fully to ETH pair trading. BTC dominance according to CMC also slowly declining.

ETH grows more in 2017 :)

I agree that 2018 is the year of ethereum, as more altcoins are coming to crypto market, the demand of ethereum is growing as the formation of ICOs. cryptokitties is also a prove that more project is trying to build on ethereum blockchain. Bitcoin's market cap is huge and its price/transaction fees are not friendly to small investers, ethereum can be a perfect substitute for a stable crypto investment

Yes.  For the top altcoin, now its time for etherium because as we know that price has over the all time high.

I don't think so, when bitcoin price up altcoin price down, when fiat price up all cryptocurrency down, but sometimes when bitcoin price down altcoin price up. There are many good altcoin project not just Ethereum.

i would say it is possible. but still ethereum will not beat bitcoin price this 2018. it might pump a bit but i would say the farthest ether might reach is around $10k this 2018. umlike bitcoin. BTC has been there for many years now and widely accepted anywhere in the world, as for ETH it is still on infancy stages even our own widely know and used wallet in our country does not support yet Ethereum, so maybe by time that ethereum will be highly accessible i would say it would make much attention resulting in high demand on the investors, high demand with little supply will surely make it’s prices skyrocket..

I think technically ETH is over Bitcoin, but just remember it also was ethereum year in 2017 it climbed form 10$ to 371$ and now to 1.3k.
Still bitcoin will be a reserve currency for a while since it is more easily accessible/buyable than ethereum, but since bitcoins transaction fees are ridiculous this could change soon.

Yes, ethereum always seemed to be a big alternative to the bitcoin. I also think that ethereum has a huge potential. However, for a while when you want to send your ethereum from mew to other exchanges or when you want to trade on etherdelta, you face high gwei prices and under that you have to wait a lot. If ethereum corrects these problems, it would very powerful this year.

Ethereum has this smooth and natural growing curve that is wonderful, also this platform now has most authentic and large realtime business, with more to come. But lets not forget that ETH too got the huge boost due to bitcoin itself. The day when ethereum market cap exceeds that of bitcoin, if that happens,  will mark a historic day in crypto!

keep holding firm, price btc can crash 5000 $ , sweet touch at the price 9000 $. while ethereum is a good years , some devs start paying dividend according to what is a meant by their whitepaper. this will increase 30% every month.

2018 will be definitely a year of altcoins just like 2017 was a year of Bitcoin whose potential is over. Technically altcoins are more advanced: faster, lower fees and smart contract support. For example, Ethereum's potential is huge. Ethereum is more advanced than Bitcoin and is also a platform for other services. I'm sure it will be Bitcoin's successor in the future.

ethereum sure are one of big coin. there will be hard fork but it was canceled. i think this would make ethereum become stonger cause i dont agree hard fork make coin became solid. with new coin. it only devide the real value of the coin. itself so its futile.

all may assume an increase in the ETH price that will rival bitcoin but that's all just an assumption because of the price increase on the current HH and it can not be a measure that the ETH will outweigh the value of the bitcoin price. I say it like that because I see from some previous years experience where it happened exactly as it is today but in the end bitcoin again shows its existence as the best crypto with price increase which is so signi cant so it can happen again something similar like what already occurred in the year before.

If Bitcoin drops same way 2 more days ETH will be the highest CAP currency and looking at price movement ETH price is hiking up while Bitcoin price is going down, After all the FUD ETH is still in a good shape, Bitcoin will be back soon and in the mean time ETH wil hike its price again. In my humble opinion, ETH/BTC will never even touch 0.11 again in 2018. The huge number of unsuccessful ICOs and why-isn't-this-going-to-moon-already altcoins will drag the ETH price down, and BTC's market dominance will be fortified.

You can't rule out bitcoin, it is a very volatile currency. But, Ethereum has been showing a very good potential over the past few months, so there is possibility that Ethereum would pump hard this year.

I am looking foward for ethereum and I think ethereum will have a great potential in this year. For me, both of ethereum and bitcoin is great but it will depends on the demand when they will totally pump again. Ethereum has a possibility to reach its highest price in this year and it will a great value in the future. Let us think that both of them will have a great future and I think they have both potential to grow more in this year. Many investors are looking forward to this coins.

Who knows, because it's not easy to predict with exactly due a lot of factors that can affects to the all related with crypto. If it's going to be the Ethereum year and there will be a high pumping.. i think there will be a high pumping up too with Bitcoin. In my opinion i'm still thought that Ethereum price movement would be still follows the Bitcoin price movement.

Well for me 2018 still the year of Bitcoin and altcoins wherein all of them will set their new ATH once the bull market started. Not just Bitcoin or Ethereum but all of them especially those coins with strong fundamentals or big project this year.

there are various possibilities that can happen. currently I can not predict for sure. but I am sure earlier this month everything will be smooth and stable. I'm sure bitcoin will tend to grow slowly and its effect a lot of altcoin will go up.

Ethereum will have a year of achievements and this is not related to bitkoin. Healthy competition has always been in price. Moreover, the demand for crypto currency is growing, and so will the supply. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to realize themselves with dignity. Ethereum has a solid foundation and a huge support.

It was the year of 2017 bitcoin, I agree. But if 2018 is the year of ethereum, 2019 will be the year of neo :) Ethereum has already reached a high prices.
The primary target will be $ 1000 again. I think reaching a level of $ 5,000 is very difficult.
