pessimistic thinking, I do not agree with you. every year the supply of bitcoin is reduced, and it makes the price of bitcoin higher. not to die. I do not believe if bicoin will die.
I think today bitcoin takes a long time to get back to his throne. so do not judge too quickly.

The old must die to make room for the new and today we have the new birth of a child
by the name of Segwit2x and his tiny little fees would make any new mother happy

Stop loss on BTC at $10,000 is what I am doing and anyone that thinks this could never
happen best just get on with it.

I don't think bitcoin comes to death. It will happen only, unless whole world ban bitcoin. But as long that bitcoin globally accepted, it will not happen that bitcoin comes into death.

It's up and down lately. For me the biggest risk was another coin overtaking Bitcoin because it proved to be better and easier to use for the daily usage. Bitcoin has a fees concern and that's why the price began to go down last month. I still believe Lightning Network needs to be implemented.
I have no idea when it will be the case. Actually the technology is said to be already operational but not vastly used yet.
Ethereum has a bright future, so I would suggest you split your risks into two or more coins.

A "stop loss" is the best advice for sure. I got mine at $6,000 we are still very far from this price.
The mistakes most do is to hold whatever happens, I cannot agree with this philosophy. A stop loss has saved me in the stock markets multiples times.
Once I bought a stock at $7.00, I sold it at $5.2, very glad I did the price is $1.8 while I am typing this. Unless you are investing with money you do not care about, to set a stop loss is crucial in this field.

Yeah and it's the same with Crypto-Kitties too, only 21 million cats to share out to a population
of 7.5bn and already the pink and black spot ones have already gone.

being the optimistic person I am, well I am hoping they bring out bunny rabbits too so i can
follow one down the rabbit hole and meet Alice because she wanted to send Bob $5.00 and
said that she could only do it if she paid the king of heats a $25 ransom fee

Bitcoin is a digital currency, and its development continues to increase over time, and also almost every country in the world has received bitcoin as a means of transaction, so that bitcoin in my opinion will never die, if bitcoin dies.

I don't think bitcoin comes to death. It will happen only, unless whole world ban bitcoin. But as long that bitcoin globally accepted, it will not happen that bitcoin comes into death.

IBM Personal computers did not get banned by the world and they once had the market to themselves and the same goes
for the internet and AOL and if Bitcoin is "globally accepted" then so is another five alt-coins and two are gaining ground
on Bitcoin.

The longer my granddad lived the more convinced he was that he would would never see death, he was right you know !

oh dear, voting is at 50/50 just now on this thread so please ignore me as I slowly move towards the exit doors

Bitcoin willn`t die in 2018, bitcoin travel is still a very long. Try to see the growth of new accounts on exchange sites like binance. January 2018, in less than 24 hours Binance Exchange serves more than 250 thousand new accounts per day "the majority are bitcoin users", doesn`t this indicate that bitcoin is still popular for this year.

Most are still earning from it. Even with the advent of new coins the bitcoin will still be here just like other big companies.

And we just pray that bitcoin prices will return to normal as soon as possible ..

No,for me.Its very funny to see the people out there who can tell that bitcoin is going to be dead when the price starts to fall.Just turn back the history then you can understand that bitcoin will recover soon when the price crashes.Still bitcoin is the expensive crypto and the currenct downfall in price due to South Korea ban and transaction fee issue. But there are more people in the world who can invest on crypto other than South Koreans so the price will get back into the right position soon. The transastion fee will be less if we use segwit address so it is better to move to a wallet which support segwit.

Anything that we can say about bitcoin now will be subject to speculation but I think that bitcoin dying in 2018 will be far from the truth. The cryptocurrency will more or less strengthen this year given the recent news of countries accepting cryptocurrency in their regulations.

Maybe bitcoin will not die in the coming days in 2018 because it does not say that bitcoin will be lost by 2018. And even if the token loss is saying they say it will disappear. “Cryptocurrency” turned into a major buzzword in 2017. Suddenly, all eyes were on these new resources with speculators jumping into the market in droves and authorities greatly scrutinizing them.

Hese year will probably in good condition because the bitcoiner did their best to give satisfaction for the progress of bitcoin. Anytime the status of bitcoin is going high and low but not toataly die. If bitcoin is not implemented lightning network or SegWit, which will remove it from the shortcomings with transactions, bitcoin, most likely, will drop much in price, but this year will not die. Its popularity is too big, however, in the place of bitcoin, any other coin has already died. However, everything is good. The fact that bitcoin will not rise sharply further in price, there are also positive moments. This will save all the crypto currency from losing the image of a serious and stable digital currency. In addition, will allow the altcoyins to continue to grow. And the growth of altcoyins is much more profitable for the development of crypto currency than the growth of one bitcoin.

It's all over of late. For me the greatest hazard was another coin surpassing Bitcoin on the grounds that it ended up being better and simpler to use for the day by day use. Bitcoin has an expenses concern and that is the reason the value started to go down a month ago. Regardless I think Lightning Network should be executed.

I have no clue when it will be the situation. As a matter of fact the innovation is said to be as of now operational however not tremendously utilized yet.

To tell you the fact that bitcoin has been dead for so many times and 2018 is another year of it's death. No wonder why there are coins that are pumped because they have no faith in bitcoin anymore. I don't agree that this will be the end or death of bitcoin, it's too early for it to say. There are investors that are just silent up on supporting bitcoin so telling that this year is a death year for bitcoin, it's your belief.

Bitcoin will correct its price but not die.

There have been many "claimed deaths" for it but it never really died.

This thing will never happen I think because every year bitcoin is getting better and this year will be the one of most successful year of bitcoin. A lot of negative news about it but I am confident that bitcoin will still be there. Bitcoin is not dead, people should believe on this and start accumulating to make more money.

Who said that? Do you have any reference? How will it die if it is still growing? Bitcoin is still increasing and the movement of the price is still variable. So, when you saw a thing that is still moving, how can you say that it is dead? It's like bitcoin, you know that it is still moving and it is not dead. Even how many years will passed, it will not die.

probably not. bitcoin is just resting from this past year and its weaken now because of FUD news from north korea. maybe it is just a correction but its not a indication of bitcoin is death in this year, many predictors are just saying that bitcoin is slowing down in this year and will goes to the dip according on how investors dumping their bitcoin just to cut their loses. but im sure bitcoin will move and come back from that dip and its continue to pump again just like before.

This is a cryptocurrency world that has a decentralized system not a centralized system. So, every decision is not decided by a party, all decisions depend on the user of the bitcoin itself. Maybe bitcoin will die if the investors and users move investment or leave, so bitcoin will not be worth it. Otherwise, if bitcoin users or investors come to invest in bitcoin then the price will be high.

Well, I can't decide on something that will happen in the future. But if I guess, I choose bitcoin will NOT die in 2018. Because there are still many users and investors who interested for investing in bitcoin.

I'm not agreed that bitcoin will die this year 2018, Instead i'm still bitcoin believer that it is the most successful year for bitcoin. Look bitcoin now is in stable value of it and popularity, maybe bitcoin experiencing fluctuating of its value but it normal to it. Same at happened before on 2017, bitcoin price is going ups and down but before the year ends the value of it is bubbled and get the highest pick of it value. Now bitcoin maintain its value range to 14,000 - 15,000 USD and constantly happen, meaning this figure for bitcoin is stating the strongest status of one cryptos.

Speculation for bitcoin now in this year is double-ling it production of highest value of 2017 and investor are continuously invest there money in bitcoin. But some are saying bitcoin die in this year 2018, but the real scenario believers and investor of bitcoin will not allow it to be happen. Instead bitcoin will remain the strongest and powerful digital currency in cryptos world.

How quickly people lose their memories! Have we become so drunk on the heady buzz of Bitcoin that we forget so soon how Bitcoin completely surpassed even the wildest expectations in 2017? I remember in 2016 when the hope was simply that Bitcoin would recover to its old ATH of around $1400 and stabilise there for 2017.

It's madness to think that after such a year, after finding incredible resistance at $12k, people are now saying "stop loss at 10k" and "time to exit", looking for the "next Bitcoin". We hit a rich vein only months ago, the Bitcoin community survived so many threats from forking, splitting, s2x was averted, it has never been stronger. It's okay to be pessimistic, but if you really think it's the death of Bitcoin, then go ahead, there are over 1,300 alts to choose from.

It's up and down at the moment. For me the biggest risk is another coin that overtakes Bitcoin because it proves to be better and easier to use for everyday use. Bitcoin has cost concerns and that's why prices started falling last month. I still believe Lightning Network needs to be implemented.
I do not know when it will happen.

No, it is not. Although I think it may be possible for the price of bitcoin to stay relatively stable without reaching a new ATH in 2018, it will be far from death. It is long dead as a form of payment, but Lightning Network can change that.

Yes we may encounter these stages whereas its price continue to decrease instead of increasing but it is okay I know that it will rise soon like what it did last year. No, I do not think it will die in 2018. Bitcoin will continue to grow in the years to come. But I dare to assure you that bitcoin will not survive for more than 10 years. The current bitcoin is the electronic coin that represents both a market and over 1000 other electronic coins. So people will just focus on bitcoin because of its great price and forget about other potentially promising e-currencies. bitcoin will be exploited thoroughly.

Bitcoin price might be constantly low this period but that doesn't mean the end of it. Just hold on to your coin and invest in other promising ICOs if you can. Of course not. If everybody is lucky, maybe bitcoin will remain with a permanent price (which I think is impossible). Maybe it will fall a little, or maybe it will rise, but death!!! No way.

I think this new year is going to be the “altcoin year” where other crypto will rise. Maybe it  is going to be the year where a lot of new users begin to prefer alt coin instead to BTC, so it is easier to pay, there are less feeds and all. But I think somehow BTC is going to keep the crown, because it is becoming more and more famous everyday.

So, maybe 2019 will be dead, but not on this 2018  :P

Most probably as terms of payment and not Bitcoin as a whole. Bitcoin will never be over even if the tx fees are very high. Yeah I guess bitcoin is dead for payments and other small transactions.

Lol bitcoin is dead as  a payment since years , no one uses bitcoin for payment nowadays

That is clearly what I am saying. If something is dead in bitcoin it is the purpose why bitcoin is created. You see, bitcoin was introduced to us as a mode of payment. And now, we cannot use that.

Who knows we are just only on starting point of 2018 yet, this bitcoin is so unpredictable. However, I guess it will not come to an end that early because bitcoin has along way to run, I think it is just a beginning. As we can see as the time passing by bitcoin becomes more expensive and currently the supporters of bitcoins become larger compared as it before. Furthermore, I guess there's no reason for bitcoin to die that easily.

Absolutely not, regrettably the majority users of cryptocurrencies ( especially Bitcoin) are afraid of this big drop in price and some of them think it is the close end for bitcoin.

In fact, this opinion is wrong and I think that this decline is planned for capitalists to buy from the bottom also perhaps to lower the value of other currencies because they always fall with the drop of Bitcoin. Otherwise, Although there are some people want to disappear this currency, but it is sure that after some period Bitcoin will return stronger and kings never die.

hmm let's see Segwit will actually be integrated this year, some other improvements to help scaling a bit plus private transactions might be implemented later this year, Lightning Network might go live by end of the year (though probably won't have much of a network until next year). People will keep piling into crypto all year as well. Seems to me things will be very bright for bitcoin.

Don't says that bitcoin is going into death this 2018, because many people will suffered with that. Because more of the users are quit in jobs due to they focused in bitcoin and other crypto currencies, I think if the bitcoin closed more people lost their job and economy of more countries will possible to be affected. However I was not believe that this speculation coming true.

Because more of the users are stayed and continue buying bitcoin in digital country due to they believe that in the future it was raising up and back to their $20,000 value. In my own bitcoin cannot death.

If bitcoin dies then other crypto currencies will follow it and die too. Because majority of the coins price depend on bitcoins value and it is a standard crypto currency that in a way decides the price of other cryptos and bitcoin has seen worse drops than the current one and came back to normal after a period of time. So it is totally incorrect to say that 2018 might be bitcoins last year.

Can you elaborate on what it means for bitcoin to die? Does that mean the network no longer operates? Or is it a certain amount of price decrease? Do you say, define "death" as $5,000? (this would still be 450% above the last ATH). Did bitcoin die in 2014? (RIP bitcoin)

Bitcoin is still in its childhood, it has to survive for a long long time. Still less than 1% of the totally population know about bitcoin while the rest still do not have any idea, but very soon all the people will start using bitcoin as bitcoin users are now spread in all over the world and they are really introducing bitcoin in a good way, i think that bitcoin will remain for a long long time because bitcoin is the first most crypto currency of the world..

It's really funny to see thread coming alive and resurrected and says that bitcoin will be dead specially when the price is on a deep crash like we have seen a couple of days. How many times have we really seen bitcoin died? NADA. But you have to admire those paid schills around, how ironic because I'm sure that they are holding more bitcoins stash somewhere. LOL. For bitcoin to be dead, this forum should died as well. Do you think that investors will just pull out their money from the ecosystem and shift it to other investment like stocks on the altcoin market? Those fools keeps barking, but the more they shout the more people are laughing at them. We still up like more than 10% year-to-year. So the likelihood that bitcoin is going away is 0.

I guess we may have to revisit your thread in 2019 and tell you how wrong you ended up or probably even give you a chance by adding extra years before revisiting. You should check back on the forum to see how many threads have been opened to declare bitcoin dead since early years. You are not the first bro.

but its not the end . otherwise its the opposite . bitcoin still going up . maybe $15k its high enough for bitcoin for this year . but i believe bitcoin had potential more than current price right know.

I think it's too early to panic. Even if the price of Bitcoin continues to decline, this will not be death. We will simply see a lower price.  ???

How it would happen, we're still at 5-digit price and that is still considerably high eventhough it decrease more than $5k since all time high. Btc won't going to die even in 2030.

SK will not ban crypto, that's fake news.

Bitcoin will not die, that thought is bound to come a few times within a year. This dip in the price is a normal thing, happened before, happened now and will happen again and it's nothing to worry about, because even with this drop in price ($9k drop) it's still much, much stronger that it was at this time last year.

So no, 2018 won't be the death of bitcoin nor will 2019, we're on a great start imo. Use the drop in price to invest.

No, in my opinion it can still go far and maybe it will still last for more than 20 years. The price is still high, before we can have a new ATH's the price of bitcoin is just $7k. After that price it goes up just like a rocket and it can't stop until $18k. Now it drops again and we have now $10k it is still more than $7k right so I think still a good price for bitcoin.

Maybe more regulated usage of bitcoin will take place, but bitcoin won't get out of usage at any instance. Governments might focus on taking it under control, so that can tax each and every transaction happening. Even now such an regulatory problem is going on. This needs to be overcome.

I beg to disagree, I don’t think bitcoin will die. It will never happen because it is there already and cannot be removed by any means. It moves in the cryptocurrency world and no one can stop it. It has its own way of living/existence  that no one can terminate.

Of course it's a no, bitcoin have a mark in the cryptocurrency world by being the king of all coins so these price drops won't affect or destroy bitcoin. Yes there are more price drop than increases these past few month but it doesn't mean that bitcoin will die in 2018. If you are one of those people who just knew bitcoin for a few months are the ones panicking by this events of bitcoin, but if you those ones that have better knowledge in bitcoin you already knew that bitcoin surpasses many of these situations and rise up again.

I don't think there's any analysis behind that at all. Just a random thought since btc has been quite stagnant at it's current price. Btc has dropped a lot lower than 50% in the past so theres nothing to validate what dude said about death of btc. John mcafee wouldn't want that to happen before 2020 lol

No analysis but the one who surrounds it is purely fuds that's why we can see this coin slowly drowning, But i can't say it is the end yet since many people like john mcafee doesn't want to lose a huge source of income. And we should think that the one we experienced right now is bitcoins are on vacation so that we will not feel sad and panicked for this fall occuring.

I think as long as bitcoin can still be accessed and have users and investors involved in bitcoin certainly bitcoin will not die, even with the progress that occurs in bitcoin now certainly be a fact if bitcoin will not die in the year 2018 this is the opposite bitcoin will grow more well again this year.
This year 2018 is not the death of bitcoin. Yes as the users still involved with bitcoin it will continue to evolve. I believe it also that price will be soaring this high again. So Im hoping for bitcoin to rise soon.

Bitcoin is not going to die, bitcoin is actually the strongest crypto currency of the world and from time to time it is becoming more and more starter. I think that bitcoin is still in its initial stage and therefore it will continue to survive for all a long long time.

The price just got massively overheated and is just coming back to what it's fair value should be. How much lower can it go? Who knows?

You are kidding, right? If bitcoin is going to die, it will die long ago, how could it live to the present. I guess you are a newcomer, dont have experienced the last round of bear market.

No one really can predict the exact value that will be reached further. However saying that it came back to fair value, I didn't have positive and certain predictions that it will be back again. The scenario wasn't showing any good signs, but speaking about the death of bitcoin is such a crap idea. It will not happen as long as we're here that continues to trust bitcoin's capability to gain much higher value.

2018 is death of bitcoin?

do u agree?

bitcoin has existed for a long time so I do not think it will end soon, especially in the time present when there have been a lot of technological breakthroughs in the recent years. In the digital world if you need to buy or trade something you have to pay for it through digital currencies and bitcoin is one of the biggest cryptocurrencies in the market, so the chance for the death of bitcoin in 2018 is very low.
