I love this question.

Bitcoin is sold on markets and each individual market has it's own price. The market price is based on the price of the last sale. Market prices stay close to each other because any major difference would cause people to move bitcoin to the most profitable exchange until the price equaled out with other exchanges.

Coinmarketcap.com is connected to wide variety of exchanges and averages out their prices to give you what most people would consider to be the current price of Bitcoin.

Searching Google is a great resource for quickly finding the price of a certain amount of Bitcoin. If you search 0.33 btc to usd -  Google will return the current exchange rate based on Coinbase's price.

Due to the variety of sources for Bitcoin price when you are paying in crypto but quoted in fiat you should always confirm the expected amount.

The fact that btc value is volatile and it's price is unstable, It will be a good idea to buy btc when it's price has fallen  into a more cheaper rate which you could afford to buy and keep, Because by the time it will rise, it's price would have doubled ×2 of what it was before or even more.

An alternative to coinmarketcap.com is https://coinsranks.com (https://coinsranks.com), it has the advantage of having a mobile-friendly layout and also pulls prices from the most popular exchanges.

If you want the exact amout of the value of bitcoin as of now, you can check the website coinmarketcap.com. This is always used by miners and traders. And this is the most accurate rate of bitcoin.

The price of one Bitcoin at the currenct time is $8376.42. The market is so turbulent and unsteady that no one knows what is going to happen next. Do you have that much cash to try your luck? Maybe you should try your luck in the other currencies.
