However, a masternode price less than 2k is very less, and you can not just look at the price, you have to study whether the mn will develop better, otherwise it will outweigh the benefits. It depends on the algorithm of the coins, it's similar to mining. For example, take a look at the Bitradio coin every block (120 sec) the reward for the master node who validate the block is 0,5 BRO. Master node is machine that works 24/7 to validate and speed up the network it used a lot in the PoS coins but also in the PoW (like Dash (https://www.dash.org/masternodes2/) ).
