Title: $15 wall?
Post by: Oldminer on July 10, 2011, 09:04:31 PM
Ok I'm watching the trades and I can see hundreds, even thousands of BTC being traded yet the $15 isnt moving?

So WTF is it with this? Can someone please explain this in laymans terms?

edit: Wait..I spoke too soon lol (it just dropped to $14.8 )

i think a month from now it'll start to climb.  just as it gets impossible to mine, the value will go up and up.

There is possibly a guy who just wants to get out at $15 who doesn't really care if he is providing a ceiling to the price.  With 100,000 btc I don't care what price I get out really, lots of money is still a lot of money.  Or there is just a lack of catalyst to get the price moving higher...

The new wall is even lower, but right this moment bids for 100+ are pouring in right at or near the market price ~$14.05.
In the face of great resistance people are still buying.

Edit: some of those "big brave orders" quickly cancelled.

It took much longer than a month, but given enough time you were correct.  :D

I think anything over 1$ is unsustainable. 1 BTC = 1 USD is easy for people to comprehend, otherwise too much mental calculus is needed.

It is not "funny", it's a real piece of BTC history that some of us lived through.
I would much rather see a old thread than 850 [ANN] of new crap coins, for example.

Everything I may comment here is that I envy a lot.
When bitcoin just appeared on our TV they told about it as new financial pyramid. And I easily forgot about it for years and joined only in 2016.

Ha ha. It would have taken nerves of steel for you not to cash out, when the price was shooting up like crazy.
At what point did you exit? I hope you made at least some money.

yeah, I never saw prices below $50 or so, and I never bought below $300 but I think many people who bought much cheaper than I did lost or sold most of their bitcoin anyway.

2011: Thread created
2014: Revived and at least two people complain about the "necromancer".
2017: Alive again and no one complains... What changed?

Yes, history can be great for several reasons...

and I'm the 2014 "necromancer" wondering why others can do it, but I cannot.  :D

Epic thread. I hope we look back on $1,000 coins in the same way as we do towards $15 now one day ;D

I didn't even know about Bitcoin when it was at $15. I got started when it was passing $200. I wish I had gotten in that early.

Everyone is wishing the same. People who joined when its price was $200 envy those who joined at $15. Just like me now envying you for that $200, as I joined when price was $650, and people who got on board recently envy those who had the price at $650, and so on...

I think we should all envy those early adopters who had the price at $2 only  :P

Some people complain about necromancy, and they're usually the same people that complain about asking a question that has already been asked.
So if you have a question that has already been asked, they refer to an old topic, but when you then reply to that old topic, you get blamed for necromancy.

In other words, no matter what you do, you'll always do it wrong.
So don't give a fuck about what others say and do as you like, because people will complain all the time.

Its nice to see this thread rebumped now. It made me look back and think that those who bought bitcoin way back 15$ and holded it till 1200$+ price just weeks ago are lucky because they might be rich now if they bought a 1000$ worth of bitcoin back then. I kinda envy them but I really hope that someday, we will see 1000$ like 15$ price, a history where some other new entrants are envious of those who bought bitcoin when it was still 1000$ below.
