Most of my current balance of bitcoins came from being at the right place, right time when feathercoin was launched and buying low, and then selling 'slightly higher than low'. Should have sold high. Doing ACH through your Bank account is so easy after you set it up. Just don't use it if you plan on trading, way to slow. Park some USD on an exchange if you plan to trade.
If you don't like Coinbase I can understand but stay away from anything with Paypal. They have become even more shitty lately and are really unfriendly with anything to with Bitcoin.
