Title: Account "koshgel" is probably compromised
Post by: DarkStar_ on January 17, 2018, 05:27:27 PM
koshgel (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=156113) shows up roughly a year and half after he "defaulted" a loan (I use quotation marks as it was technically repaid by BPB, but it would be defaulted as he hasn't shown up for a very long time). Makes 3 posts, and logs off some time after I request a signed message:

Had no idea this loan was still open or that BPB paid it for me. Seems that he has also been inactive for some time. If you come back BPB, I have Bitcoin for you.

Apologies to darkstar_ for the miscommunication. I also have no idea who this fake koshgel is. This account has never been compromised. I'm just been inactive on this forum.

Thanks  :D

Seems awfully suspicious that you decide to leave for almost a year and a half, and "forget" about your loan. At the bare minimum, sign a message from your staked address as I strongly believe the account is hacked.

There are no password changes, but I think the "hacker" wouldn't really need to change the info as it would bring more attention, and because koshgel probably isn't coming back. Thoughts?

At this point, it is certainly not a trustworthy account until a signed message is provided, and even then, the original owner doesn't appear full of integrity either. I've left feedback as well to make this more visible.

Even if he is not compromised i can't think of a reason why anyone would want to trade with him still. If you really want to then just go with escrow to protect yourself. But chances are that this is not the original koshgel, but rather someone that gained access to koshgel's account and wants to essentially buy the reputation of the account back by repaying the "defaulted" loan.

If you can't remember a loan for 1+ years, and all of a sudden you do, then you either have memory issues, or you're a liar.

Either way, he's not to be trusted even if a signed message is provided imo

We need more people like you in the forum. Tagging hacked accounts is a necessity for this forum if you see the scam accusation board daily.

I can't make any of the higher tier flags, as no damages were caused thanks to BiPolarBob repaying his loan on his behalf. You're free to make newbie warning flag if you wish, I think it's justified given that he was selling his account, disappeared for a year after taking a loan and refused to sign a message.

Looks like my suspicion was right Timelord2067 has posted some proof that koshgel's account was sold and not hacked. Even though there was no password change the user might have probably sold it to someone he knows that is why they didn't change the password. Either way he should get a tagged for selling his own account even if it was not hacked.

IIRC talk of koshgel's account being hacked occurred before it was offered up for sale.  I'd have to retrace my steps to work that out.
