Title: [CLOSED] batch #22/23 ASICMiner USB + Blade miners
Post by: CanaryInTheMine on August 19, 2013, 02:36:14 AM
USB miners - Stock in hand.  Shipping to you today when you place your order
I have no more blades in stock as of now...  8/27/13 more are on their way.
With the recent run up in btc, don't spend it on shipping!! Pay with fiat for shipping instead.

- no PMing me your shipping address as a signed message anymore.  You will sign 1 string only: tracking # of your label/s
friedcat's post is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0
International buyers: please contact your respective re-seller: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0

I provide The Fastest delivery to you, bar none!

This batch has a simple setup.  you pay 1 price, provide a label and I ship.  I don't care where you want me to ship it to (domestically).

Price is .33 per USB miner.  Prices for blades are 10.50 btc.  Payment address: 19xofxS7vkmwoNgc52RVJtrU8XjN6VQ8pG

For Volume Pricing, see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276441.0

USB miners:
If you want me to  handle shipping (creating a label) please order from www.bitCanary.com or purchase a branded and tested miner from Eligius mining pool here: http://eligius.st/~gateway/products/block-erupter-sapphire

You don't need to spend btc on shipping! spend USD instead:

For this group buy you must provide me a shipping label.  If you prefer not to and want me to handle shipping, then please place your order through www.bitCanary.com or through Eligius pool instead.

To generate your own label for me to ship with (such as USPS.com/FedEx) : .33 btc per unit. (check post #2, will post more instructions there)
how to create a shipping label by BorisAlt: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=277332.msg2971486#msg2971486 (shipping from zip 60181)

Blades:

10.5 btc each (you supply the shipping label) I have a limited supply of blades on hand to ship out

use a btc calculator and you will see that everyday, the blade is good for ~0.12889410 btc generated (using next estimated difficulty).  my shipments are lighting fast and I'm the fastest reseller.  so, if it takes you 2 extra days to receive your blade, it's like giving up 0.2577882 btc.  you want them in your hands ASAP, and that means letting me handle your orders.  please take a second to understand this :)  I can clarify if you'd like. just let me know.

Original info and specs on blades: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=204030.0

6.32TH/s - 6,323,363 MH/s producing, ASICMiner USBs and Blades have been distributed by me so far.

I am located 4 miles from a MAJOR DHL hub that receives these orders from China.  My delivery times are the best.  packages sent to me by ASICMiner are in my hand the same day they enter US.  They do not take an extra day or two to travel the country to get to me.  It takes me 11 minutes to drive to DHL when necessary.   My location is in a major metropolitan area next to a LARGE international airport that is a hub for shipping for all delivery companies.  This gives me access to DHL, FedEx (also just 4 miles away, open till 9 PM for next day shipping).  I have access to several Post Offices around me.  I can ship USPS till 7 PM.  I ship to you the same day I receive my delivery.  Simply put, I am in the best position geographically and logistically to receive an order and to get it out to you ASAP.  Period.

2013-08-18: HOW TO SIGN A MESSAGE TO ME (YOUR SHIPPING INFO): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.msg2291965#msg2291965 Please NOTE: the above example is NOT the same as sending a signed message with your transaction. If you are new to this (aka noob), please read this so that you understand what to do.  This is the single most problematic step in the ordering process.  Here's how to sign a message with a blockchain.info wallet: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=180068.0 Please verify the signed message yourself before you send it to me

how to send a shipping label:
you will essentially download a pdf label from usps and email it to canary.btc@gmail.com (email used for labels only, contact with questions via PM here)
in the body of the email, you will have 4 things:
1. transaction id of your order
2. 1st payment address of the transaction
3. tracking number (no spaces)
4. Signature (your will sign ONLY the tracking # from item #3)
additionally, if you use this method, you no longer need to PM me shipping address as a signed message.  trying to make things simpler for all.
I will check that the tracking number in item 3 matches the label exactly.
See post #2 below for an example.

Common Questions:
When will I receive my order? Answer: I ship out the same day I receive inventory from ASICMiner/friedcat.  I do reserve up to 1 day to get it done in case DHL delivers later in the day.

Can you confirm my order? Answer:  you can confirm your own order by looking up the transaction id of your payment.  if it has confirmations that is your confirmation that your funds were received.  This is what I would do to "confirm" your order.  bitcoin is designed in a way to allow you to confirm and see what you've done.

Folks and miners,

As announced in the Official ASICMINER Hardware Information (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0) thread, I am a reseller in the USA of ASICMiner products.  International buyers, please contact your respective re-sellers.

Please Note:
Only send payments from an address you control (i.e. you can sign with it). If you send from MtGox or other exchanges, you risk loosing your funds since you can't prove you sent them. Please send from a wallet you can sign a message with.  You will send your shipping address via this method.

Policy update:
Refunds: Your orders are binding after your funds have been used to pay for an order.  Before that (while coins are piling up for the next batch), you can ask for a refund and will get it paid back in full. Understand that after you get refunded, I will not accept future orders from you.

Online User Guide

Notes
  1. Fans are not accompanied with blades anymore. They were more or less intended to serve as a help of quick setup and mining testing for users who haven't got proper cooling yet, but turns out to be quite misleading by making people think the fans are powerful enough to cool the (already)over-voltaged and (easily)over-clocked blades.
  2. To make the whole shipping process smooth enough, no more racks are given out or for sales. As a compensate we practice the bulk price discount as shown above.
  3. Please be aware that the payment processing and shipping will be less prioritized than the remaining orders in the third auction. It may be 1-2 days less timely before the third auction's shipping is completed. After that it will resume the instant-style speed.
----------------------
Note, local pickup is no longer available for orders less than 100 units.

Ordering:

There is one common payment address: 19xofxS7vkmwoNgc52RVJtrU8XjN6VQ8pG

To buy:

pick the number of ASICMiner Block Erupter USBs and/or Blades to order: N.
send the appropriate amount C based on Pricing paragraph above. email me a label. I ship.

ensure the sending address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

Shipment:
The USB miners/blades will be shipped to you same day I receive them but not longer than 1 day of me receiving them (just in case DHL has a very late delivery for ex.).

Communication:
I live in Chicago (CST time zone: UTC/GMT -5 hours) and have a day-job that allows me ample time to devote to this endeavor. I do sleep at night, so if I don't answer at night, please be patient.  I'm pretty open and transperant with info.  I post it as soon as I have it, I do not withhold from anyone.  Please respect everyone's time.

Cheers,

Canary

Received a few PMs about USB hubs, here's a good thread on it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0
how to send a shipping label:
you will essentially download that pdf label from usps and email it to canary.btc@gmail.com (email used for labels only, contact with questions via PM here)
thank you BorisAlt for putting together a quick how-to guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=271054.msg2928336#msg2928336 (shipping from zip 60181)
in the body of the email, you will have 4 things:
1. transaction id of your order
2. 1st payment address of the transaction
3. tracking number (no spaces)
4. Signature (your will sign ONLY the tracking # from item #3)
additionally, if you use this method, you no longer need to PM me shipping address as a signed message.  trying to make things simpler for all.
I will check that the tracking number in item 3 matches the label exactly.
--------------------------
here's an example of a signed message you email me with an attached label (each lines corresponds to #1,2,3,4 from above paragraph):
d9192cc3d48721355e897317d6164be6702b5d26bd38e613fc1b973a7c157a7b

IFqkkue7+x5Mc/eWgwywD9VpECiRXoRAW1MuUXPL+8HTjH3uApW5wbfYcRBiLZCPq+3jczkS/xfO5WdcreG1pmE=

guidelines for your own labels:

small priority box fits 14 USB miners
medium priority box fits 100 USB miners
large priority box fits 140 USB miners
20 USB miners fit into a flat-rate padded envelope (Priority or Express)

3 blades fit into a medium priority/express box.
5 blades fit into a large priority box.  6 can be done but the elves have to get very crafty and there's no room for anything else.

--------------------------
If you are a re-seller on eBay or other outlets, I can handle your shipping of USB miners.
- you sell
- send me the appropriate label (pdf) you generate for your sold order.
- I ship from zip 60181
- sit back and relax... don't bother shipping. I do that with my elves for you.

Thanks,

Canary

Id be willing to bet its a 7 port hub with 6 BE's. In a 3d printed case with a USB powered fan on top.

Unique for sure for thinking of a different way to market them

The price is higher than the last group buy.  Is this to make the 500 bulk price look a little better?  Interesting pricing strategy considering the recent difficulty increases.

Also why has the .1 promotion been swept under the rug? (The .10 thread was locked, or I would have asked the question there.)

If you look thread for this buy does not include price for that specific reason.

I'm willing to bet he picks a number where it comes out cheaper to answer your question.  But at 15 plus it is a jump up easily since you provide shipping costs.  And web site prices....

As far as timing i think it has more to do with chips in delay for competitors projects.  There are other group offerings that have not used this as a way to gouge you for a little extra.

Guess I should have asked before placing an order but Hey Canary, you mentioned that you have stock in hand but does that include the blades or just the USB Sticks?

Or Am I going to be out the cost of shipping one time and have to send another label because I set the ship date for today.

ok...so I finally figured out my tracking number from my Eligius order and according to USPS my USB miner will be arriving today so yay there. Next question. I'm trying to order another unit from your new website but after signing up for an account I do not receive an email with a password or anything. It 'may' be because I don't use a .com address but rather a .info address? Or something is just hosed with your site... :P

Keep up the great work :D

I have a question on the blades. Do they come with the appropriate fuse and power adapter?

I know you need to splice some wires together but the plastic adapter that you put those wires into is what I am wondering is included or not or if i need to source those from somewhere else.

you will need a PSU.  there's a setup guide link on the OP to help you out
10 Amp fuse and the green power connector are included

In the effort of being thorough, as I for one honestly never thought I'd see my BE, I thought I'd add some actual photos for the other skeptics. This was my first ever BitcoinTalk forum purchase and ooooo boy was I ever nervous. Sure, I would have only been out $40 but it was still a nerve wracking experience so wanted to share the end results in case anybody else felt likewise so...

Here is a pic of the newborn (I asked for gold but got black...but I never expected to get the gold one anyway :P) still in its wrapping
http://gektek.info/images/BEincase.jpg

Here is little one mining its first few shares
http://gektek.info/images/BEpluggedin.jpg

And last but certainly not least...the results (yes, it only says 334 but it IS averaging 336 so all is well)
http://gektek.info/images/BMclient.jpg

So in conclusion...buy Canary...you'll be happy with the results :D

Thanks Canary...sorry for any headaches I may have caused along the way. Looking forward to ordering another one soon :D

Okay repeat customer.   I want 20 sticks = 6.6 coins.

Can I  buy you a usps padded flat rate label to fit 20 sticks?   so my cost to you is 6.6 coins and send the label for the padded flat rate envelope? Do you have stock to ship on tue the 20th?

My 6.6 btc will be ready about  4 pm central on tue the 20th.  will that make the cutoff time for tue shipping? I have 3.8 coins in hand now.

I have 3.8 coins in hand now.
if you can send all that by 6 PM tomorrow , I'll get your order out tomorrow.

Okay I will shoot for 20 sticks by 5:00pm central time.   If I am short I will order 10-14 and go for  the small flat rate instead.  thanks

Things got easier!

1. PAYMENT
Pay Canary to the specified address (e.g. 19xofxS7vkmwoNgc52RVJtrU8XjN6VQ8pG). Get your transaction ID by double-clicking on your payment line in Bitcoin-QT.

Go to https://blockchain.info and search for transaction ID to make sure your first address is what you think it is. Post in this thread your forum name, quantity of items, price paid, and your sending address, e.g.:

BorisAlt; 5; 1.55; 15aJAPshhWsNJRYx4FnjYPd9fer8XM1cNT

Things to record from this step: YOUR BITCOIN PAYMENT ADDRESS and TRANSACTION ID.

2. SHIPPING LABEL
Example USPS. Send FROM yourself TO yourself, but make sure to click "I'm shipping from another ZIP Code" box. I use flat rate boxes, since there is so little hassle.

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g188/axels2000/ScreenShot2013-08-18at123731PM_zps0c9a0e2d.png (http://s56.photobucket.com/user/axels2000/media/ScreenShot2013-08-18at123731PM_zps0c9a0e2d.png.html)

Pay with a credit card, save shipping label as PDF.

Things to record from this step: TRACKING # FROM SHIPPING LABEL

3. SIGN MESSAGE WITH INFO FROM STEP 1 AND 2
Use your bitcoin (virtual) shipping address from step ONE to enter in the first line. Use your tracking number from shipping label from step TWO. Remove spaces between numbers for tracking #. Click Sign Message:

http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g188/axels2000/ScreenShot2013-08-20at81018AM_zpsf25a6940.png (http://s56.photobucket.com/user/axels2000/media/ScreenShot2013-08-20at81018AM_zpsf25a6940.png.html)

Things to record from this step: ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE at the bottom of the Sign Message dialog box.

4. SEND SHIPPING LABEL

Send PDF from step 2 to canary.btc@gmail.com with a body in the following format:

d9192cc3d48721355e897317d6164be6702b5d26bd38e613fc1b973a7c157a7b (transaction ID from step 1)
15aJAPshhWsNJRYx4FnjYPd9fer8XM1cNT (your bitcoin paying address from step 1)
940550XX9930002541000 (tracking number from shipping label from this step 2, no spaces)
IFqkkue7+x5Mc/eWgwywD9VpECiRXoRAW1MuUXPL+8HTjH3uApW5wbfYcRBiLZCPq+3jczkS/xfO5WdcreG1pmE= (signature from step 3)

PM Canary with questions. He responded quickly either through gmail address or PM on this forum.

Happy mining.

Great instructions.  I would also add a verification step to your signature.

You can use http://brainwallet.org/#verify   to check that the hash and your message(Tracking number)  verify to the sending wallet address.

Canary,

The blades are much smaller than I expected for some reason(roughly the size of 2 7970 side by side, but much lighter).  They are very easy to set up, now that I have done a couple I could set up a new one in 5 minutes or less.

They have been running non stop, low clock setting getting right at 11gh each. I have not messed with the high clock setting yet at all.

I just used a old power supply that I had out of a broken desktop, cut a few wires and was good to go with power for 2 blades.

How many do you have left anyway? Thinking of buying up the rest of what you have.

I will send  you a usps label to your email. I am holding off on that for a bit.  I am hoping to add 8 more sticks  with 2.64 more btc.   this would be 20 and I would need to send  a label for the padded flat rate envelope.

I have 11:30 central time  I should know in 3 hours if I am doing 12, 14 or the 20 sticks for today's order. Coinbase is due to come in. Sometimes they are slower then they promise.

Canary, perhaps it would be a good idea to officially include on the OP the "shipping from" ZIP code to be used in creating a label so we don't have to hunt it down only to find it blurry on a posted image.

Priority flat rate - doesn't matter if it weight 100lbs. If it fits in the box its golden!

because it gives tracking and insurance for the price of 5.xx bucks.

so even 1 stick makes it a good deal

Tracking is also including in first class shipping. Insurance is included up to $50 on flat rate boxes. First class is still cheaper for single unit shipments. But I'll use the flat rate anyways.  ::)

Canary did mention the spec won't be any higher than the current blades...

But i'm also wondering a few more things:
- Has power consumption been reduced?
- Do the blades come with adequate cooling/mounting now?
- Will the "mini" blade be coming available also?

I don't believe the new blades will be over-clockable either.  one setting only.  I do believe they will have both Ethernet and USB connections.

friedcat and ASCIMiner do not like pre-orders and hype leading up to a product.

I think that once they are available to actually ship, then we will have product available announcement with all relevant specs.

mini is expected, when: I've no idea.

LOL
for educational purposes:
2000/29141 (current volume) = 6.86% * 123.50 (USD/btc rate) = 8.476030335266463 - (-123.5) = ~115.024 assuming that a sale of 2000 btc would have 100% desired effect....  and this is an unreasonable assumption and an incredibly crude calculation...

BTW.. I bought a freakin Big mac last week it was $2.99.. Now I see its 2 for $4 this week!! I WANT SOME MONEY BACK FROM MCDONALDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so I go to leave positive feeback, trust, for CanaryInTheMine.  It only has a checkmark for if the comment is negative and no way of any kind to leave a >0 number for the comment.

As long as you leave the negative box unchecked, the trust feedback will be positive.

Also don't forget to put how much BTC you risked (paid to Canary before he shipped) and a link to the post or thread where the sale happened.

You completely mis-read my negative trust feedback.  I'm not petty enough to get upset over miner prices decreasing from week to week.  I'm upset because everyone else in the *same* group buy at the *same* time-frame got their product for less, and the only reason why is because I overpaid him.  He refused to make the transaction right by sending back my overpayment, and he was extremely uncooperative & defensive.

Allow me to fix your analogy:

You see a TV ad for a Big-Mac at $5.  You decide to gather up some friends and go to McDonalds.  When you get there, a Big-Mac has actually been marked down to $4.  All of your friends notice the change, but you missed it and assumed it was still $5 like the ad said.  They pay with exact change, get their product, and start eating.  You give the cashier $5, and he/she closes the register as if the transaction is complete.  When your friends all say what a great deal they got at $4, you realize what happened.  You go back to the cashier and say "wait...  where is my change?", the teller replies with "Well, you seemed to be okay with paying $5, so I'm hanging onto it.  You thought $5 was fair, so the deal is done".  After complaining a bit more, the cashier agrees to give you part of your overpayment back.  He says "I'm keeping the rest because it cost me more to make your burger than theirs (which obviously doesn't make any sense)".  After calmly asking for more explanation, the cashier gets short with you, accuses you of bullying him/her, and kicks you out of the store.

That's essentially the PMs in a nutshell.  If Canary is okay with it or if these types of one-sided responses continue, I'll gladly make the communication public.  I was dealt with unfairly, he refused to explain himself because it was too much of a bother, and he ended up getting defensive and saying that I was "bullying" him and that he refused to communicate anymore.  After that experience, I don't trust the guy, and that's what the trust system is there for.  If you have a positive experience -- cool.  Post it.  If you have a negative one where you had money taken and the person was uncooperative -- post it.

Right.  A "hit job".   ::)  For a ridiculously low amount of money.  I don't stand to gain anything from smearing your name.  I'm not your competition, and my previous purchase with you was satisfactory (I even left a positive trust rating for it).  I'm not sure you know what a hit job is, or you're extremely confused.

Members should be banned for abusing the trust system.
Members should be slapped for making snap-decisions without knowing the full story.  You're welcome to leave positive feedback for your transaction (I did), and I'm welcome to leave negative feedback when a transaction makes me end up not trusting him.  He took my additional BTC overpaid and just assumed it was some sort of donation to his time, and he couldn't answer my very calm/direct questions that I asked (and ultimately cut off communication).

you did a hit job on me... that's the effect of your actions.
I provided you with an explanation and refunded what you asked for.
You provided me with one/two liners until you eventually blew up and said I was "bullying you".  No, you didn't refund what I asked for.  You refunded what you felt was appropriate (which is more than what others in the group buy paid if they created their own label...  which didn't even exist in the thread when I made the purchase).

without stating exactly what you want, you left the feedback you did and I'm sure you are enjoying yourself... whatever.  what goes around comes around... I do not wish to communicate with you as I stated. enough already... go enjoy the fruits of your labor and leave me alone.
...without stating exactly what I want?  I stated it so many times and in so many different ways that you eventually made fun of me for being so verbose.  I couldn't have been more clear.  Here is a quote from one of my PMs:

This is how it appeared from my side, and I asked for clarification.  A return at this point doesn't solve anything.  A return means I pay even *more* money for the mistake of over-paying you.  Try to put yourself in my shoes and wonder if you'd be upset/confused and asking questions.

If you're still confused as to where this is going, I want you to either:

a.  convince me that I'm misunderstanding something and that I didn't actually pay more than your other customers in the same group buy (put your customer at ease about it)
b.  send back the rest of my coin that was overpaid.  Shipping didn't cost BTC0.5.  It was 1/3rd of that.

-Mike

I do not wish to communicate with you as I stated. enough already... go enjoy the fruits of your labor and leave me alone.
This basically sums up your attitude/behavior in most of your PMs, and it earned you a negative trust rating.  You took my extra coin, can't communicate, and refused to communicate.  If you're truly done with the situation, move on with it and quit telling your other customers that it was a "hit job".  If you make an inaccurate accusation toward me, I'm going to defend myself.

I've been on this forum for years, and I've witnessed plenty of fraud.  It's my duty as a buyer to report on my transactions -- both positive and negative.  Once again, if your transaction with him was smooth -- great.  Post it.  If someone does something that makes me not trust them, I'll post it as well.

he wasn't cheated, he paid the price that was listed on the group buy at the time he paid for 4 blades.  that price was 10.5 per unit and this included shipping.  so he sent 42 btc. order was marked as Ok for shipping.  afterwards I kept responding to pricing changes elsewhere... finally ended up at 10.25 if I'm provided a label.  if not, I was charging .25 per to handle it... most people gave me a label. and since the order was marked as good to ship it shipped.  when I was contacted, I looked it up, and math seemed to have added up, so I was baffled... but I was able to untangle it next day and asked what was expected.  at this point there's a difference of opinion as to what I actually paid out of pocket to ship... so we're trying to resolve this.

I have not posted every time I got my orders from Canarys' group buys but I have never had any problems with him.

Yes he sometimes responds with one liners but bottom line is I always get exactly what I paid for, in a timely manner, that for me is great customer service.

Do mistakes happen....yes in every business....does the reputation of WalMart go down to negative because there could have been a misunderstanding on one sale at some point.....NO!!!

The way I see it the Trust rating on this forum leaves a LOT to be desired and I would suggest that relying on TRUST FEEDBACK is what should be used with EXTREME CAUTION!!!

Just my 2 cents for whatever it's worth.

Thanks Canary you have helped me generate a small side income.

You're misreading the trust system, I think.  I don't have a choice how much "rating" to give him or hit him for.  All I get to enter is how much coin I lost (for a negative post) or how much I risked (for a positive post).  I marked it with exactly what I felt that I lost.

Like Canary said, we're trying to resolve it.  He preemptively sent me the coin back and a good explanation of his side of the perception.  At this point, if he's doing what I think he's doing with the shipping, the BTC is likely his.

This must have been the breakdown in our communication.  The price that was listed when I sent the funds was apparently 10.25 (you'll notice that there were others who paid this before me).  I decided to buy blades and secure my spot in line, and by the time I sent the funds, the pricing had been lowered.  However, details for shipping hadn't been sorted yet.

Like Canary said -- we're trying to resolve it through PM.

Received my blade.

Unlike the ones I'd bought directly from friedcat a few months ago, for some reason this one came undervolted at 1.07 V and won't run at 13 GH/s out of the box. Had to bump it up to 1.2 V.

I'll agree that the weighting can be a bit off.  That's why I made sure to add positive feedback as well.  I wasn't trying to add a banner to his name, I just wanted to report that I lost coin, wasn't treated fairly, and lost trust with him.  I can either put that into the trust system, or I can create a dramatic thread with all of the PMs (and the last thing this forum needs is more drama).  I don't get to choose how much trust is gained/lost.  I just enter the details and the forum does the math.

What's more broken is that nobody leaves feedback for a positive transaction.  Using Canary as an example, he's shipped to *gobs* of people and yesterday he only had THREE total ratings.  He wouldn't have a banner if that weren't the case.

After talking some more with Canary, it seems that there was a *wild* communication break-down.  I now see that he actually had to pay significantly more for shipping than what showed on the label (specifically for insurance).  I didn't get this because the replies were short (he's a busy guy).

When he sends me a reply, I'll send the funds back his way.  He's probably pretty sick of me by now, but I'm happy that the situation is resolved.   ;D

I could be wrong I don't quite understand them myself  .  I don't understand how he could drop you so much for such a small amount of coin.     under 1 coin out of 40 plus coins and your rating drops so much.  you have sold thousands of sticks to hundreds of buyers. one bad rating makes no sense the point drop.

all the ones i got were undervolted too.... he's probably trying to idiot-proof it as much as possible since they're now shipping 10x-100x more than they were @ 40-50btc.

another thing is they used to come with a little fan but now no fans. he says its safe to run low clock w/o fan but cannot overclock without a lot of cooling. someone without a clue hooks it up w/o fans on overclock will burn it up

from what I've heard, they should have a USB port on them too.
not over-clockable, a little bit smaller.  hashing wise, not any "better" (same chips, just repackaged differently I guess)

not released yet.

One of 2 things are going to need to happen in the near future for BE sales to continue.

A) Another Price Cut ( No one will want to pay > $50 for a Block Erupter )
B) 25% Drop in the value of a Bitcoin

I would prefer B. Im sure most resellers of hardware also would.

I gather since Canary said they are the "same chips" that there is little that can be done to reduce power consumption. As far as I know the only way to reduce power consumption (in any meaningful way) would be to make newer chips will a smaller nm (nanometer) semiconductor process technology.

The current ASICMiner chips are 130nm which is 2000-2001 technology in terms of CPU architecture. There is a long way to go to catch up with Intel's current 22nm CPUs... But this explains why ASICMiner was one of the first to ship any meaningful amount of Bitcoin ASICs - because they used an older/cheaper semiconductor process.. the downside is these are by no means the most efficient ASICs possible. The upside is that as ASICMiner and others do come out with smaller nm ASICs, they will indeed tout improved efficiency.

For now I guess we use what we got. The efficiency is still light years ahead of where GPUs are =)

No need to wait for that... Put a hub/switch and control the current blade from your pi with bfgminer
New blades won't be superior to current blades in terms of what they do.
But I do think USB interface will make it easier for less technically inclined/savvy

That's good to know. I just spent my coin on a couple dozen usb erupters so it will have to wait until next week.

I'm guessing that is due to 20% VAT he has to pay in import to EU.

Canary,

Received 14 yesterday!  Thank you-Your process and service is outstanding.  Positive trust coming your way when I figure out how to do that right :P   The lid on one of the plastic cases was cracked in half, must have been that way from the factory because the box was sealed(of course) and the box looks OK.  That is, it must have been cracked before they boxed it.  No worries, just info I thought you might like to have.

Thanks for letting me know!! It possible that the cases cracked while being shipped to me... I branded 49 units for Eligius yesterday and I saw a couple of cracked plastic cases.  Friedcat got the packaging right! No damage to the miner, the case really did its job at protecting against damage. Going to let him know about this.
Appreciate you letting me know!

I should have added what you already know, the BE in the cracked case was undamaged and hashes to spec.   Confirming your correct assessment that Friedcat did get the packaging right.  It did the job it was designed to do.

Best to you,

As for cracked cases I got 2 out of 20 but the miners work.    Out of 170 sticks 2 or 3 cracked cases and 1 dud stick.  but the last batch of 20 had  2 of the 3 cracked cases.

Pin stripes and Mag Wheels don't make a car go faster...

Realistically:
We need a price cut.

price cut and basic black also works for me ,but I not sure that the price cut works for am and its stock price.

lets say 1000 sticks are sold today by canary at .33 btc each that is 330btc gross sales. canary used our labels. so the 330btc needs to stay the same.  so lets take some money off for china to chicago shipping  3btc so you are at 327btc. take some money off for canary's workers 2 btc per 1000 sticks so you are at 325btc. am had to build the sticks say 50btc so profit drops to 275btc.

my guess is not accurate just a guess but how much can you cut?    I would rather they make a faster stick lets say .672gh not.336 like now. make the stick taller since most of us would not mind a 25% height increase if hash doubles. then keep price at the .3-.4 range with 2x hash it is like this one dropped to .165 a stick.

If they added another chip it could not be powered directly by usb 2.0 which has current rating of 500mA. The emerald ones draw 510. Sapphires draw ~500. So they are already at their limits.

They would have to migrate to usb 3.0 which has a current rating of 900mA?

Aren't most people using usb 3.0 hubs anyways? It's time for these erupters to erupt to double their hash rate and about .30 BTC price for each.

If you're running off a Raspberry Pi, then you're restricted to USB 2.0 hubs.  Just to keep my life simple, I've standardized on a single USB 2.0 hub (D-Link DUB-H7) and I'm using multiples of it for both my PC and my RPi.

USB 3.0 ports have large variances in supplied power...
So the result of a USB 3.0 miner stick would be too many headaches for the user..

Also even if the usb 3.0 does allow for more power, you are still limited by the hubs power limits. So a higher hashing, more power hungry usb stick would only mean less sticks per hub making the usb sticks even less usefull since extra hardware costs basically just doubled. And what about heat? Tese things get pretty hot as it is. Adding another chip would take it closer to requiring active cooling per stick.

What about the smaller nm asic chips though. Dont they use less power? I doubt it would be enough for usb powered status but maybe

I haven't been charged yet and the order is sitting at "pending".

or lower the volts/tuning and do the 2 chips to hash at 500mhs .

I used to do it with my 22 gpus.  my hd7970's would hash at 500mhs .9 volts  rather then  625-660 mhs 1.1 volts.

a 1 gpu pc could hash at 500mhs with a 155 watt pull.  crank it to  250 watts it would hash  at 630 mhs.  if you did 2 chips and altered each chips power draw it could work. I would far prefer a setup where a stick hashed at 500 mhs then 336 mhs

500mhs does seem like a better number for hashing. and I am unfamiliar with how these chips work, but maybe they cannot be under-volted too much and still perform. it seems like i read somewhere that these sticks were already running at lower voltages but i could simply be confusing these sticks with something else.

hopefully the next generation of asic chips will allow higher hash rates at same or lower power consumption. I think with difficulties getting as high as they are, a 1ghs stick needs to come out just to stay competitive as a one-and-done hasher. but still, it is it nice to have something that runs at what most GPUs can run at but at only @ ~2.5w. I think we are getting too greedy / expecting something for nothing with wanting these sticks to perform better. but who knows what the next generation of chips and sticks will bring.

I think maybe a platform that is modular, much like the blades, would be nice. You plug in the required amount of usb cables and plug in another board or two for asic rails. throw a fan on it and call it a day. but i guess that would be a USB blade which may be coming our way anyway.

this is also the guy that sells the very unnecessary heatsinks for the usb erupter sticks.
also has auctions for "QuickMiner" which seems like it is just 6 usb sticks and a hub (of course this is pure speculation on my part) in a 3d printed case for 400 bucks

but its ebay, there are plenty of suckers buyers out there who will buy anything.

very creative but it seems like maybe more work than the payoff...

speaking of heatsinks. Do you know if the ones this guy sells (or somebody else?) actually cool USB erupters enough to run w/ no fan?

If they did I could see them being useful for the right price

I hope we get our .10's soon.
 :)

Hoping friedcat wouldn't toss distributors around by telling them different things... so probably ours is very close! probably we'll see something very soon.

"BTC Guild is offering erupters for previous customers at .4 BTC each."

I understand the coupon over at BTC Guild as one BTC Guild is offering on their own behalf. They did previously offer 0.15 BTC coupons back when Canary and everybody else did and they are out just like Canary and everybody else has been. This 0.4 BTC coupon is just BTC Guild offering them because BTC Guild had a recent price drop... not actually coupons from friedcat although they have a similar style.

Did not know that.
Somebody is selling them as coupons and directing traffic to BTC Guild.
In other words ALL RE-SELLERS cannot compete as all sales go to BTC Guild.

The people over at BTC guild realized they were getting shafted and stopped buying from them ... so BTC guild wants to make it look like they are doing something for "THEIR PEOPLE" is more like it.

Yeah the lowest (even coupon) at BTC Guild right now is 0.4 BTC which is still decently higher than Canary or other resellers - I can't imagine anyone who knows about canary's "regular" price would pay more for Guild's "coupon" price. Probably just people who don't know about Canary or for whatever reason are willing to pay more to support the pool.

They do offer 3% PPLNS which includes tx fees in the payout - I think that is still decently competitive.
Anybody paying 7.5% PPS needs to get their head checked.  IMHO

the black color is the new version too per specifications and description... but ASICMiner will now have more colors.  depends on what colors I receive.  I proportion them out as much as possible on orders if multiple colors come in from manufacturer.
if you read friedcat's wording carefully, he means that Since Aug 11th restock, this is the new version... his recent post was due to getting new photos professionally done.
I have told friedcat that since the photographer forgot to include the black one, everyone will think black is "old" version... no the case however...

The other identifier of the "New" batch is the RoHS + CE engravings.. am I correct? The "New" black ones distributed so far have had those so far as I've seen.

the best thing that can happen for bitcoin is to have 7 billion of USB stick miners out there instead of concentrated hashing locations that are 25%+ of the network...
all these new companies are chasing the wrong crowd with complex equipment...

yeah   if we had about 20 pools with  4% each and a few million miners with 10-20 sticks or 1 or 2 blades it would be better then  2 or 3   100th places like cloudhashing.

The big group  big pool is very tempting to attack.    3 pools with  50% of the hash beg for ddos attacks

 http://blockchain.info/pools

right now btc guild 50 btc and deepbit add up to 50%

a well planned ddos with 200 blocks before adjustment  is very tempting. take out the 3 mentioned pools 12 hours before adjustment and the rest of the miners  have easy pickings.  Having 20 pools at the 3-5 % level would truly end this incentive.

I think a smart defense we miners can do is set our "backup pools" in our mining software (like bfgminer) to connect into various smaller pools should any big ones go down... so taking down a big pool would only transfer the hashing to a random assortment of smaller pools.
