Title: asic vs gpu
Post by: bitcoin9999 on January 17, 2018, 10:57:56 PM
Asic Mining and GPU mining which is your favorite?  I think asic has very low salvage value after its usefulness.  GPU you can get 1/2 your money back selling on ebay

Im holding my antminer and selling it to a museum or enthusiast in the future.  Trust me these will be collector items.

That sounds like a great idea! Even just to keep them to show your kids one day.

Ultimately it largely depends on what cryptocurrencies you support and want to invest in. Ethereum has a lot of promising functionality for smart contracts and decentralized apps, therefore I'd be more likely to support and recommend GPU mining. As another user also mentioned, GPUs have the additional ability to be used for secondary tasks like gaming. Not to mention they hold a greater resale value.

I prefer gpu. there are some reasons. because the asic miniers are only good for the short run, and you can make your investment back, however they are loud, noisy and get super hot. asic chips are designed for a particular algorithm. Which means that once the mining has surpassed a certain difficulty, they basically are a piece of junk which is consuming way too much electricity compared to their revenue.
gpu mining will give you more than asic.
when mining on computers become unprofitable, you still have a computer which you can use for other things. gpu can be sold and you can always get some money back in return.

GPU rig for computer enthusiasts who like building something not ordinary, ASIC's if professional tools only for business.
On GPU rig you can play games )))
Technically asic's different: he have little memory and calc not depending of memory algos
