Title: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: lecomputer on January 18, 2018, 08:25:42 AM I just invested most of my savings in crypto, and I was very unlucky with timing as the market crashed/corrected the day after. But there is nothing I can do now but wait and hope. I am trying to plan my portfolio...
I have been gathering info and researching for weeks, but the more I research the more I find new coins, and it gets a bit overwhelming and confusing. I have quite a few coins I am interested in but probably too many. I just can't decide! I am looking to hold things long term for the most part, and only leave 10% for speculative trades. I don't want to watch charts all day like Ive been doing and lose my life to crypto! So below is my proposed portfolio, but very open to change. Any suggestions welcome, especially if you think I have one coin that is almost certainly better than another and in direct competition. BTC – 4000 ETH – 4000 LTC – 2000 XMR – 800 NEO – 800 OMG – 1000 ICX – 1000 STRAT – 700 XRB – 600 VEN – 300 WTC – 150 WAVES – 200 REP – 200 XLM – 250 REQ – 150 IOTA – 200 XZC – 150 ZEC -100 GNT – 230 ETHOS – 200 Any help very much appreciated. The analysis of each coin and research of its investment attractiveness costs a lot of money. And you want for free, that people change your portfolio! This is not beautiful first, and secondly disrespectful. >:( You can ask about 1-2 coins, but 20 coins ... sorry ... Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: lecomputer on January 18, 2018, 09:50:50 AM I am in no way meaning to be disrespectful!
I have not picked a load of random coins and asked you to research them. I am saying that after all my research these are the main coins Im interested in, and wanted to get some others opinions, and see if maybe I missed something or if people had some advice for me? I hope you dont take it the wrong way Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! This is not beautiful first, and secondly disrespectful. >:( You can ask about 1-2 coins, but 20 coins ... sorry ... Yeeeah, I don't think anyone is going to analyze 20 of those coins for OP. So, here's a better suggestion: narrow your search down and focus on a few. Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: lecomputer on January 18, 2018, 10:00:58 AM I wasnt asking for people to analyse each coin, more to look at the portfolio as a whole. Do you think its too much to have this many coins in a portfolio? If so, I just cant work out how to narrow it down when they all seem good!
I'm not asking about specifics on each coin, just do you think there are any mistakes in my choices? Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: Tony116 on January 18, 2018, 10:03:04 AM I like your way of diversifyingm but there is a lack of coins with small cap in my opinion. Take a look at CAPP, UTN, CMS, PKT. These are projects with a huge growing potential.
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: lecomputer on January 18, 2018, 10:46:39 AM Thanks Tony
My worry is that its too diversified! Thats why I am wondering if choosing less coins might make more sense, but I am so new I cant tell. Because I am new I dont want to put much into many small cap coins, as it seems like a huge gamble, and you never know which will succeed. That is something I will get into in due course, but thought starting a bit safer might make more sense. Also because of this big correction, I just want to get back out of the red before gambling too much! Its been a worrying few days Thanks Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! You can change others to them. Because my top 5 pretty much same as yours. Just NEO, i don't think it is gonna be more valueable.
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: weredo911 on January 21, 2018, 05:54:36 PM no one set up an portfolio with too many coins. the best number is 5 to 7. with current market, i suggest you ETH, PKT, SXDT, SXUT and NEO. These coins will help you get big profit
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: kueyen on January 21, 2018, 05:57:41 PM Investing in a lot of different coins is not bad in itself, but unless you know what you are doing, I would limit my investment to about 10 coins. You should be able to trim your investment down to 10 coins, depending on how much risk you are willing to take; since some of the coins among those 20 are riskier than others.
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: cynical on January 21, 2018, 06:17:32 PM Im not sure there is a lot of risk in the above portfolio,
the op has chosen a good spread in his portfolio. Diversification is a great way to limit the risk and most coins have their pump time so there are chances for gains for people willing to trade when a coin is rising. Keep only 1000 LTC and move to NEO with rest in LTC. Keep only 2000 ETH and move 1000 of them to strat and the other 1000 to BTC For rest in small amount on alts you can play anytime as the reason of low amounts. Just make changes on them every week. Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: babygun on January 21, 2018, 06:38:50 PM It is always good to diversify your portfolio to spread the risk, but this is too much!
I would eliminate some small coins such as Ethos, REQ, VEN and put it in BTC and ETH. Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: RonJohannson on January 21, 2018, 06:43:52 PM Maybe figure out what is your investment philosophy overall. What is your time horizon, what end markets you believe have a strong demand for a particular coin, what geographies you are interested, and then from there figure out what coins fit your profile. Then do a deep dive into each and pick a few. The hard part about investing is that people want invest now and do homework later, you should be doing the opposite. Difficult I know, we all want to be rich! But, try working backwards and you'll be able to invest a little more confidently. I know because I made a the same mistake many times. Good luck.

Post by: Vit83 on January 21, 2018, 06:49:42 PM I would remove Iota and add etc:) iota isnt a blockchaine even:) etc have limited supply, small price now and returned dev from ethir. You can also take some part to participate real good icos.
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: IliaNoz on January 21, 2018, 06:52:06 PM I think you need to choose few mid-low cap coins for huge returns.

But there is nothing I can do now but wait and hope. I am trying to plan my portfolio... If you really have that much, first of all congratulations, you are already rich, but if you want more money just invest in safe and solid projects with good roadmaps, I would not hunt many gems(shitcoins, low cap..), just a few, and the rest would go to solid projects you really believe for the long run. I hope I helped!I have been gathering info and researching for weeks, but the more I research the more I find new coins, and it gets a bit overwhelming and confusing. If the truth you have all of the above, then you are already rich, and if not, then why talk about it at all ...
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: AK47- on January 21, 2018, 07:16:45 PM Yes, you should narrow your portfolio a little. Go for at max 10 coins and research them well. My advice would be remove any of your holding from Ripple. Have a look into Stellar because of its 1% positive inflation, look into DASH because of its decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). All of these if you're looking to hold for a good 6 months. And as great as cryptos are do not invest most of your savings into it. I firmly believe it is not a bubble but you never know :)
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: ajmapalo22 on January 21, 2018, 07:34:22 PM I think having too many coins in your wallet cannot maximize your earnings why not try picking only 5 coins so you can monitor their market very well besides not all the coins you pick are performing well at this moment and some of them does not give profit to holders for a long period now. Earning properly in crypto currency market are not by means of holding a lot of coins but instead choosing the best coins to hold
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: mmm01 on January 21, 2018, 07:53:14 PM I think you need to take risks to make money. You do not risk dividing the money into many coins. You can invest in a coin that you think promises the future.
Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: richshopgh on January 21, 2018, 08:03:49 PM Getting advice on famous coins like bitcoins and Ether will be easy since most of us here have one of these to make a good judgement. But for most of other coins you need time to research on the coins behavior for the past two years history and make your own decision.

Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: webminati on January 21, 2018, 08:08:14 PM You will have to find posts for each coin and see if people have reviewed the coin before, o read the announcements here.
Most of the coins you proposed are great. So you can keep this for next 6 months if you want to Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: coinlawyer on January 21, 2018, 08:49:36 PM exept adding EOS and cardano (ADA) I`ll reccomend You to look at some really cheap because of its young age projects like LEND, PRL, WISH etc, They have plenty place to the growth in 4-6 monthes

Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: di.ako.toh on January 22, 2018, 03:23:56 AM I think holding too many coins is quite challenging in my case. Especially, if you have a limited time in maintaining these coins,it would be hard for us to have a close monitoring of it. So, it is very advisable to have coins which we can accommodate efficiently and of course those that are performing well in the market.

But there is nothing I can do now but wait and hope. I am trying to plan my portfolio... Your proposed portfolio looks well diversified. For biggest gains you have to look for coins with good projects, low price and low market cap. In that perspective VEN XRB REQ ETHOS WTC look good.I have been gathering info and researching for weeks, but the more I research the more I find new coins, and it gets a bit overwhelming and confusing. I have quite a few coins I am interested in but probably too many. I just can't decide! I am looking to hold things long term for the most part, and only leave 10% for speculative trades. But take a look at which I would say are extraordinary opportunities like ACHAIN, Rchain, Aelf, Quantstamp, Chainlink which have very low price as well as low market cap and all of them have nice potential. Also check out ICOs such as Arcblock.io and Pundix. Don't worry about overall crypto market going down as its part of market movement and its very difficult to time your entry. Invest in good coins and check them every few weeks. Title: Re: Advice on my portfolio for 2018, too many coins! Post by: MonkeyBrain on January 22, 2018, 03:57:00 AM I have a similar strategy investing in a diverse number of coins. Though I'm trying to keep it under 15. Many of my coins are similar to yours but with less of BTC, LTC and more of XLM, IOTA, ARK and EOS.
