Title: Need Help Recovering Lost Lite Coin
Post by: billperrotta on January 18, 2018, 03:34:37 PM
Hello Good morning,

My name is Bill and I am new to crypto currency.

I accidentally send a litecoin out from my ledger nano S on sunday 1/14/18 with no miners fee, 0 fee.

I know I can use a satoshi calculator now but the damage is already done.

My transaction is delayed unconfirmed so far 5 days.

I hear a Miner could help me recover a lost litecoin.

most block chain sites don't show my transaction, However bchain.info does.

It shows the sending and receiving addresses and shows a red box that says unconfirmed.

How much do you charge to mine the litecoin and send it to its destination, or return it to my nano ledger S hard wallet?

viabtc can't see the transaction I believe because its below the required amount so I can't try pushing it up.

Another question is 2 dollars usd enough of a fee to pay for a litecoin transfer next time?

Thanks for your help,

Bill Perrotta

Don't worry - it's not lost. Chances are, the transaction already dropped out the the mempool (or never went into most node's pool in the first place). Open your Ledger wallet, and see if the wallet still shows the unconfirmed transaction. If it doesn't, the transaction should be "forgotten" by pretty much everyone, and you can respend the Litecoin. If it does show up, you'll just have to wait a few more days for it to be forgotten.

2 things that could happen (none of which are negative, hopefully)
- Litecoin is back into your wallet
- Litecoin transaction gets confirmed

ViaBTC doesn't help as it only works for BTC transactions. 2 USD is almost certainly enough, unless the network is really congested, or you have a lot of inputs. The average transaction fee for litecoin at the moment is around 25 cents at the moment. Doesn't the Ledger wallet have automatic transaction fee selection? Just use that in the future.

Thanks for the quick reply.

No on ledger you need to use the bitcoin app so the fees get calculated to high.

So custom I can set in satoshis. I already book marked a satoshi calculator I can use.

unfortunately I already sent this transaction out.

basically I left the default 0 satoshis.

Next time I plan on setting it to two bucks 17,298 satoshis.

You say 17K sat equals $2... are you talking about Bitcoin or Litecoin?

For Litecoin, use 100 sat/byte. That's the typical minimum, and there's no point in using any more than that.
For a typical transaction (1 input and 2 outputs) 100 sat/byte means 22600 sat in total, which is about 5 US cent.

Thanks for that. with ledger nano S doesn't it calculate the satoshi according to bitcoin?

because there is no litecoin app. Litecoin also uses the bitcoin app.

I'm so disappointed right now. my coin appeared to return and then when I went to spend the balance that returned the negative transaction reappeared and I still can't send anything to binance.

This transacting is literally disappearing and reappearing making me unable to create a new one.

What the Fluff is  going on?

Yes, it uses the application (somewhat inappropriately and confusingly) named "Ledger Wallet Bitcoin"... but NO, it is NOT calculating your Litecoin fees according to "Bitcoin"... Yes, it still calls them "satoshis" in the UI instead of "litoshis", but it IS using Litecoin network values etc.

It is a bit of a UI design issue and can be confusing, so even though you use the "Ledger Wallet Bitcoin" app for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold etc, and they all say "satoshi", they are actually using the correct values for their own network.

Possibly a syncing issue with the Ledger wallet app... but could also be the wallet rebroadcasting your transaction. I'm not sure if you can "abandon" a transaction in the Ledger Wallet Bitcoin app so that it stops rebroadcasting. You may need to try leaving the "Ledger Wallet Bitcoin" app closed for a couple of days, waiting until your transaction drops from the network and then connecting the your Ledger device to Electrum-LTC wallet (electrum-ltc.org) and see if you can succesfully send from that.

I want to thank everyone here for their help.

After multiple resfreshes of the ledger wallet I was able to transfer my litecoin and trade it for Ripple ;)

And I figured out the LTC satoshis and used a 98 cent fee.

It transferred in a matter of minutes.

No fee = 5 days of Mempool hell.

As long as I manually set the fee I shoud  be able to avoid it in the future.

Thanks again everyone,

Bill
