Title: ETZ for Ether
Post by: tora on January 19, 2018, 09:04:56 PM
Read on Yobit that holders of ether will receive 1 to 1 ETZ for every ether they hold. Will same happen if ether is held on MEW?

Yes and No. Yobit is an esxchnage and they decided to credit the fork to customer accounts.
MEW is just a wallet. You will need to claim ETZ with your private key.

Regardless of if it is MEW, Jaxx, Metamask, or any other way that you control your private keys you will always have a chance at claiming a fork if it is legitimate. For instance those who have their private keys can obtain Bitcoin Cash, and Bitcoin Gold with no issues but the other 20 bitcoin forks that have came out aren't attainable through those claiming services. Reason for this is because some of those forks aren't safe meaning you expose the rest of your coins. If EtherZero is safe which I assume it likely will be then you will have no problems claiming from MEW, same goes for ETC later on with the Callisto hardfork.

It'll be an awesome thing if we could get some ETZ on our MEW wallet if this fork goes possible. The last time I got extra is from Bitcoin Gold which is a fork of Bitcoin last year.

I personally am not an ETH holder but my buddy just got scammed entering his priv key into an ETZ claiming page.

Be careful.

He’s not having a great evening. Too impatient and got burnt bad.

No. He came over and showed me the page. He’s New to this.

It had a white box and said claim ETZ enter priv key then submit below it. Very scammy but he was rushing. I feel sick for him. I personally don’t know anything about MEW or ETZ so it took me a while to figure out what he’d done.

I know most of you here are properly ETH vets but to anyone who’s new reading this be FUCKING CAREFUL NOOB. Do research and don’t rush FFS.

I also watched this process carefully today. I doubt that ETZ is Ethereum fork because Vitalik Buterin did not comment this event anywhere. So be careful and don`t make a mistake.

It does seem a little off indeed... Has someone really received any ETZ?

Do not Ever enter your private keys anywhere.

Giving private key to someone/some site is just like giving your physical wallet to thieves. Here, take it and spend however you want!
Experienced users may make fun of this stuff but new users are too vulnerable. They need to learn basics.

Guys and girls who know more about encryption and stuff, when you watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDs7IuUX6f8 he uses https://bip32.info/ to encrypt his Backup Recovery Phrase. He then copies the Chain Code and inserts it into https://ethereum-zero.com/. Is it possible to decrypt this Chain Code so it gives out your Seed Phrase?

Can somebody enlighten me on WTF is happening in this video?

EDIT: Ok, he has deleted comments that were warning people about this video being a fat scam...

My ETHs are on MEW and I will wait until ETZ is available there to load, like ERC20 Tokens after ICO.

I will NEVER EVER enter my Priv Key into any website !!!

I do not think that SIAcoin can be attributed to shit coins. I think this is a pretty serious project that big X's should do, I think that in the near future we will still see this serious growth, but apparently not now, but in the near future for sure.

Be careful with those forks/ Sometimes it is better to get nothing. I don't think that "claiming something using your privkey" is a good idea

Only you hold MEW wallet so you ccan get ETZ and all of other fork! Yobit is an exchange so they hold ETZ you deposit to their wallet
