Title: Siacoin Softfork Threat over Antminer A3
Post by: coinbureau on January 19, 2018, 10:21:09 PM
The developers at Siacoin were producing a mining processor that was able to mine SC using the blake(2b) algorithm. They were selling this with great success last year with delivery in June.

However, Bitmain has suddenly released their Antminer A3 ASIC. This is ready for shipping within 10 days so many people decided to buy this. They definitely aimed to undercut the developers of the Obelisk miner.

Now, the devs at Obelisk have threatened that if they institute a softfork, their mining chips can still mine the coins. This means that the Antminers will become useless.

However, it will have to be a UASF. Do you think that the community should fork the network just because of this? Will forking the network not mean the choice of one centralised party (obelisk) over the other (Bitmain)? What about the unfortunate people who bought the Miners already?

If they softfork, they do favor to Obelisk.
It is against market.
And Obelisk should fight on the real market.
This time they may lose with blake 2b,
but they have another.
So they should survive with it and make better one.

So No to softfork if they do they will lose their credit.

I think the community need to determine this, I think there are trying to protect there network, if one look at the role Antpool played during Segwit activation one will think they deserve this but it should be a fair game and allow free market to determine which miner to use

Will sia coin rise because of fork?
