Title: Recently I've taken a liking to ICO's. So I've decided to share my results.
Post by: Aoirayn on January 20, 2018, 02:44:04 AM
EDIT: Investing in ICO are HIGHLY RISKY.
I'm not trying to encourage anyone else to invest in ICO's.
Please research for yourself and make your own decision.
I am currently only investing what I've gained in cryptocurrency.
I would never risk gambling what I can't afford to lose. And you shouldn't either.

The year is 2018, and I believe this will be the biggest year so far for cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Bitcoin, Ethereum and other altcoins are getting exposure like never seen before.
A lot of people want to jump on the bandwagon, a lot of companies and people want to adopt this technology.

That's why I strongly believe that the good ICO's of 2018 will bring fortunes for many people.
And so starts my experiment. I will invest in a series of ICO's and post my results here.
My plan is to HODL for as long as I can handle. I might cash out earlier than planned if there's a huge gain.

I will update this thread of my returns on each and every ICO.
Below you will find my current status.

Recently I've stumbled across a couple of ICO's
And I'm falling in love with too many of them..

So far I've participated in:

Adbank (2 Eth)
HOQU (2.7 Eth)
FortKnoxtser (1 Eth)

And I'm (maybe) planning to participate in:
LiveStars (1.5 Eth)
Dadi (2.5 Eth)
Current (1.5 Eth)

I haven't even made any returns yet, as none of the ICO's I've participated in have sent the tokens yet (due to them recently being done).
But I will update this thread later how my returns were.

What do you guys think of this?
Have I made good choices? Bad choices?
all of them seems good but you miss many big ico such as titanium . investing in ico is addicting and its good way to invest to earn big profit. but becarefull of scam.

"Have I made good choices? Bad choices?"

Only time will tell. But you have been smart about spreading it around, gives you a much better chance of hitting one that goes to the moon.
I am familiar with Adbank and Dadi and both of them would be good potential candidates for significant price appreciation in the after market.

You are being addicted with ICO since it can bring you such pleasure in terms of ETH or BTC. So, you are willing to join any ICO that you have encountered but you must take good care of your decisions and actions though.

It is really good, that you invested in ICO, i heard that adbank reaches its hard cap and fully maximize their ICO so i think it will be profitable in the future. And so you can try to invest at KWHcoin since its Mcafee supported project. I think this is also a good project to begin with.

I like the project Live Stars. I believe that they have a great idea and there are no competitors. If the developers can do what they promise, then this will be a very promising project.

I think, if in a bull market, so investment ICO is definitely a wise choice, because the profit is in is too exaggeration, but when the market is not good, then the ICO will let us lose money, but it doesn't matter, after all, profits is too high. :o

Dadi (2.5 Eth)

Worst thing that you can do, dadi is a scammy project, they have a copied/pasted whitepaper from SONM. If you are looking to join, better to find another one instead of putting your funds in there. Iti is too risky.-

I know about that incident.
But one bad thing does not stop me from investigating further, so I've read more upon it, read their response and medium post about it, and made my decision to still trust them.

I don't judge a whole ICO by a small silly thing as a 300 word copy. This happens everyday, and a reference is usually added, but was missed this time around.
But I might lower my Eth contribution actually, I've just found another 2 ICO's I want to take part of.

So I'll readjust it to:
LiveStars (1 Eth)
Dadi (2 Eth)
Current (1 Eth)
Medicalchain (1 Eth)
Lympo (1 Eth)

And that's gonna be it for ICO's.
Gotta tune it down a notch lol.

Edit: Oh, and I'm also invested in SONM a bit.
Right now it's my worst performing coin in my portfolio, but I'll keep it around.

Really? any proof or source link? if its true, then Aoirayn will loss a lot of money there. Just want to give little advice, make sure you read and research every detail information about your ICO before investing on it.

Not for nothing, but as my day job I work with people who have been so addicted to cocaine that they've abandoned their children whilst they've gone to cop it; that have had limbs amputated because of infections spread by dirty needles, and who have drank themselves into wetbrain material.  That's full-blown addiction.  What you guys are experiencing is nothing of the sort.  You're very passionate about crypto, and this is a positive thing.

Don't put money into crypto if that's your infant's diaper fund.  Don't buy bitcoin using a credit card.  Don't sell your house, car, or your kids' toys to buy bitcoin.  I've read quite a few threads where people seem to be doing those kinds of foolish things, and that's pretty bad (but still not addiction).

Well all tokens starts from an ICO and you can't lose that much since every one is buying at the base price.

It's good to invest to ICO, but you must be carefully because there are a lot of scam projects.
I'm usually participated in ICO that have a good founder (good profile) and good aim.
Hope you will get big returns, because you invest so lot.  ;)

I changed a bit in the OP.
I'm hopeful about 2018 and how it'll bring so many new people and companies into blockchain technology.

Therefore I believe a lot of ICO's will be successful in the near future.
Let's check the status of my investments during the coming months.

I will update as soon as I invest in another ICO or when a previously ICO's token become available on exchanges.

Just a little tip from a fellow ICO investor.. during the mid 2017 boom I spread my portfolio too thin in various ICOs. Some of them mooned, many of them stayed below ICO price. If I just stuck to researching only a few good quality ICOs and put all my investment into those, I would have nearly made 3x as much as I did. Rather than spreading yourself too thin, just research quality teams and projects, understand the whitepapers, and assess whether the marketcap will be reasonable. Those are the ICOs to invest in.

Before investing in any ICOs you need to do complete research about the team because therr are lot of scammers waiting out there to earn easy money buy using people greediness. Many people are also falling for their traps so you need to be aware if you want to earn money from ICO.
ICO is really great thing to earn good profits in short term period, for that we need to pick the legitimate ICOs who has longer term goals.
Everyone in the world is getting addicted to something so it is not a big problem that you got addicted to a crypto related investment but try to make use of it.

Is it addictive? Just the desire to successfully invest money. Dependence is a fixation on the process itself with no apparent result. Infinite reading of ICO conditions, tracking of projects in which no investment was made ... I have such acquaintances)

Currently investing in ICOs is trending in 2018 because people expect it to be x10, x20 profit when investing in. But there is the truth that there are so many scams ICOs are currently in the market, that these ICOs attract capital and after receiving money from investors, they will close the project and investors will lose the whole. the money spent. So you need to analyze, learn about ICOs before deciding to invest.

OP No,don't be nervous because nothing gonna happen if you like that i think you should continue what your doing i know a friend of mine already earns 71 btc in three years of her investing so stay calm.I like to try that too but i can't afford to lose so i stay in trading only with 0.01 btc in my investing then if i earn i will try ICO's actually i already earn 7x in my trading but i cash out that so i start again in 0.01 btc.

Their platform is quite impressive and their white paper is truly encouraging, knowledgeable and timely which aim to answer the needs of the new generation people.  Plus, the developers of the project are reputable and trust worthy.  I am sure that their project will be successful. I wish you all the luck.

investing in ICOs is a good thing just be sure to invest only what you can afford to loss. not all ICOs are good some/more of them are scam and many people are already scammed by them. be sure to research first before investing.

The key thing is always to do sufficient research. If you're doing this, and learning from any mistakes (we all make them), then you are doing the right thing. Mentioning addiction also shows that you are assessing whether your involvement is too much - again a good sign. Always question everything!

Thank you for the list mate. I will check some out as well. I think that it is warranted why you would be addicted to ICOS,  even if it has its fair share of risks and unpredictability,  the good thing about it is the fact that it is very convenient to do, and it  is very easy as well. The fact that it is not time consuming and can be paired with any other job is a very good source of extra income.

I do not know why you invest so much money in ICO projects, in my opinion, ICO is high risky investment with longterm payback, I think it is better to limit the percentage to less than 40%.

The risk reward ratio is very high with investing in ICOS and it becomes very lucrative considering the gains we can get. i would advise you to only invest 20% of your total portfolio in ICOS.
And always try to get your initial investment in the ICOS back after they do around 3-4x gains and put back that into other ICOS of your choice.

from your planning list i like the DADI ICO.

I'm addicted to ICOs too. Although I don't go crazy and avoid these copycat cryptos like DADI. I'm still passionate of finding the next innovative project those who intend to solve current problems of blockchain technology thou. A couple of projects I follow:

- GoNetwork (that has been created by the founder of a mobile gaming app developer called Infinidy) wants to help Ethereum solve these issues thanks to mobile accessibility and interoperability. How? Through a fast, cheap and scalable mobile first off-chain transaction network for Ethereum.

- ArcBlock's Open Chain Access Protocol enables the application to adapt to a variety of blockchain protocols including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Hyperledger, and more. It eliminates the platform lock-in issue and enables applications to run on multiple blockchain fabrics, vastly improving the developer and user experiences.

The last couple of ICO of mine in the past month:

CyberMiles: 7x

Most new alt coins and tokens are dependent on ICO sales but my piece of advice is to look closely and be vigilant on where and who are the right people to invest your ICO because not all ICOs have a good return some are prone to fraudulent and scam, do a thorough research before diving in to invest your hard earned money.

You're making a good decision for your future and I think you'll be getting to earn a lot of money than an average company worker this year.
So, if you're getting into ICOs but me I'm not because almost all prices are decreased after the ICO and when I'm going to invest in that ICO I better invest after the ICO and wait for the coin price dips and then I'll buy more and wait for few months to grow.

2018 is the year of opportunity.
I'm going to invest in a series of ICO's.

I will try to hodl them as long as I can,
but I am young, I might lose my calm and withdraw early.

I will update this thread of my returns on each and every ICO.
Below you will find my current status:
(Eth rate = Ethereum/USD rate at the time of investing)

Invested:

Adbank 2 Eth [Eth rate = $1,448] (60,000 ADB)
Invested: $2,896
Worth: N/A

HOQU 2.7 Eth [Eth rate = $1,075] (15,075 HQX)
Invested: $2,903

FortKnoxster 1 Eth [Eth rate = $1,295] (6,799 FKX)

Planning to invest:
- LiveStars [1 Eth]

What do you guys think of this?
Have I made any good choices? Any bad choices?
Have a tip on an ICO that I should invest in?

It's good to see that in your position right now, your doing the right thing of where to invest your capital, but I think you missed utrust to invest in  but its is not too late for you to invest on the Earth token as well mate. You can hold em if you like which is depend on you.

Very interesting position in the creator of this topic, but why do you think so? Do you think that as soon as people run out of ideas they will stop investing? Or do you think that you will never be able to stop and invest and invest? I think as soon as the money runs out, you stop doing it.

ICO's are really profitable at the moment , as alts are rising now while bitcoin still looking for it's safe haven and stability. Earned alot from CanYas ICO recently, looking forward for BeeToken thankfully I was able to get whitelisted and now waiting for KYC to be pass and get approval from them, it's a low market cap 15MLN $ and circulating supply is 500mln , strong team that compose of people from different sector like google , facebook , uber and civic. Hopefully beetoken won't disappoint me. goodluck to us

So much coins composition in your portfolio. If your goal is long term I suggest to maintain your mythical five in your portfolio. If your goal is trading maintain just a few maybe 2-3 coins only. Maintain your composure in ICO this might be your gold mine or your mine peat.

I think ico is a way of earning high returns.
But now there are a lot of new ico that are scams, and we have to be careful, because it's a bad news that people are often cheated out of a lot of money.
When you choose to go to ico, remember to take a close look at the white paper, consultant, and visit its official website.

I like idea to invest money to icos, but in my opinion its better to research more about them and choose average marketcap, so coin will be able to survive and climb to top not from bottom, but from average coin.

Thanks everyone for your comments and recommendations.
I'll look into all ICO's mentioned. I've seen Gems before, but didn't have any date on it.

Gems is looking really great, and they have a huge support already (48k people on their telegram)
I strongly believe that huge demand often brings huge returns, if their ICO is good, which it looks like.

So I've decided to add Gems on my planned list for now.
Maybe Nucleus Vision too.

Don't do so many drugs :D Everything if used too much is bad, Investing on ICO's  with no proper vetting before investing is also bad. Many of ICO's are fake with no real team behind the projects. Find 2 of the most promising ICO's and invest, If you don't know what to look for you should see how many of the known experts are investing and on how many ICO's to make a safe investment.

Your addiction to ICOs is because you are making a lot of profit from it, if you are not making from it then you won't be addicted.

ICO is a good strategy to invest as long as you can find ICO with solid project and excellent group of dev the upside is very high compared to the downside in ICO you can double , triple or even more if you got lucky for the ICO you pick but always research and analyze every ICO you joined. there are so many ICO  that the purpose is to scam investor so be careful and vigilant also

Yes I am also of the same view. I also know that investing in ICO is much more beneficial. In the start when people were investing in ICO I was thinking that I am not that much that I will also invest in ICO but once one of my friend invested in an ICO and after the end of it when the coin added to exchanges he earned a lot. Then I also learned and I also started to invest and started to earn profit from ICOs.

That's unfortunate. Might I ask what you invested in?

Oh, and I've changed the OP a bit again, just to point out certain things about my investments in ICO.
And I've noticed many of you comment about my title. So I changed it too.
Addiction is not a word one should be using casually, so I decided to remove it.
Being addicted to something is a concerning and sad thing, I didn't mean to offend anyone that is or has a friend who has a serious addiction.

Icos are very good but we have to know how to differentiate beetween a good project and a scam. If you invest at the beggining you will make for sure tons of money. I will invest on any good project I see on 2018 and use the money from mining and past ICOS earnings to reinvest.  8)

Yeah that's what I'm gonna do as well, reinvest my earnings (or losses) from the ICO's I participate in and reinvest them in good ICO's this year.
It's becoming hard to tell which ICO are good and which are bad, because it's pretty easy to make it look professional nowadays.
Also they can copy from an old ICO and it'll be hard to notice.

So after Gems announced how they are handling their ICO, I'm gonna pull out of that mess.
I won't criticize anyone participating, but I'm not touching an ICO that runs a Dutch auction of only 25% of total tokens.

I guess this is a prime example of an ICO that looks really great, and then takes a giant turd.
Instead I'll allocate more ETH into other upcoming ICO's :)

FortKnoxster is a great investment, and it looks promising, but the project is not hot enough and may require further marketing.
You can look at other recent ICO projects, DADI, experty.io,wepower.

I already reviewed these ICO's project as what i have read on their platform it is very interesting and promising project.
As what you've said invested on ICO's project is so risky we don't know how it they run their project or they abandon if they hit the target fund in their project when it is field. So, good luck to you my friend so far as what have you invested now was really interesting and have promising to the investor.

I have decided to not invest into Arcblock and Gems. You will find my reasons in the OP.
These are my thoughts of them. If you disagree, that is fine. I can very well be wrong.

I've learned a lot the past couples of weeks looking at ICO's.
I'm sure I still make mistakes, and we will see in a year if I made any good / bad choices.
Only time can tell. But for now I'm threading carefully. Potential is everywhere. You only need to spot them before it's too late.

I would argue with those who are very excited about ICOs and the benefits these projects give. Yes, it will be the best investment if you really find the right and honest company, but a newbie can make a mistake in 99%! You must be very careful picking an ICO.

ICO is risk. You can invest big money and have small return also it can be to invest small amount of money or coins (mostly BTC and ETH) and have huge return. Mostly ICOs are gamble with right one picked you will gain huge interest and opposite if you made mistake.

Bad choices?
all of them seems good but you miss many big ico such as titanium . investing in ico is addicting and its good way to invest to earn big profit. but becarefull of scam.
yes everyone likes ICO, and they missed a good ICO and invested in it, and this is the right way to make big profits. so far I also participate in many ICO, I think it will be profitable in the future.

Invested: $2,903

FortKnoxster 1 Eth [Eth rate = $1,295] (6,799 FKX)
Status: Hardcap reached. Waiting for tokens.
Invested: $1,295

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Planning to invest

Dadi [1-3 Eth] ICO launch: Jan 29th.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure, maybe investing

LiveStars ICO launch: LIVE.

Lympo ICO launch: LIVE.

Medicalchain ICO launch: Feb 1st.

Current ICO launch: Feb 7th.

Nucleus Vision ICO launch: TBA.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Decided to NOT invest

Gems - My reason: Less than a week ahead of sale they announced they are only selling 25% of the total supply in the ICO.
Also, they ICO will be going with a Dutch auction model, which means the hard-cap will essentially be decided by how fast the tokens sell out.
This, combined with the huge amount of investors will mean that the initial market-cap will probably be very huge.
What prevents the team from not selling some of their 75% tokens if they could earn hundreds of millions of dollars in doing so?
This would push the price per token to below ICO price most likely.
All companies essentially want money in the end, that's the purpose of starting a company.
I wouldn't trust Gems to be 100% faithful. We ARE talking about random people on the internet. Not everyone is a saint.

Arcblock My reason: After more research I felt that I had to abandon this ICO. They claim partnerships which they don't have,
numerous people getting kicked from telegram after asking legit questions. Very small team, no media links, just icons on website.
Also, they claim to be blockchain 3.0, but they don't actually have a product, and will sell ERC-20 tokens.
Which you will be able to trade against the real product later. There's too many things that could go wrong with that.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you guys think of this?
Have I made any good choices? Any bad choices?
Have a tip on an ICO that I should invest in?

I too, I have participated in several ICOs and I have benefited from it. For me ICO becomes a very profitable alternative work.

Thanks for this, I've looked at it.
A small part of me wants to invest, and a small part of me don't.
Since they are only selling 50% of the tokens.

It's giving me the same vibe as Gems, only selling 25% of the tokens.

Just because something looks nice on the website, and they have a lot of telegram users doesn't mean it's gonna succeed.
It's just good marketing and has usually got something to do with referrals or pre-sale bonuses or pre-sale tasks to earn free stuff.
Everyone loves free stuff. But freebies are also usually dumped pretty hard.

Still, I have decided to join the token sale. Overall the product looks good.

Also, I'm running a bit short on ETH atm, and I'm having trouble getting enough to invest into Dadi tomorrow.
I could sell some coins, but I have faith in too many of them.
My biggest coin in my portfolio is XRB, and there's no way I'm selling a single coin of that with so many good things coming for it in the upcoming weeks.

I just sold some coins and invested in DADI.
Wow what a ride!

Even though this ICO had a personal hard cap of $5,000,
and had a total hard cap of $25,000,000, it sold out in less than an hour! That is insane!

First of all, the site crashed and I was unable to access the contract address.
After waiting for the site to respond (after about 15 minutes) I got the address and prepared to send my 2 ETH.

I put in the maximum gwei allowed (99), and 200,000 maximum gas.
After 10 minutes it got confirmed, and it had used up 134,800 gas. Phew! That was a bit sweaty.
I got nervous that it would run out of gas, but it turned out OK.

At the time of writing, the contact address has received more than 30,000 transactions. and it's still increasing at a rapid pace.
But after about 15,000 transactions, it started rejecting the transactions due to already reaching the hard cap.
They have already announced on twitter and telegram and their homepage that it's sold out, but people are still desperately trying to invest.
I'm relieved that it rejects the transactions, but it's still a lot of gas being used.

This is really insane, considering the personal hard cap.
I believe this token will skyrocket once it reaches exchanges. I am heavily excited for this.

Wow! :o This was a hot trip. There is a regularity that the harder it is to buy tokens during a crowdsale, the more likely it will give you the best ROI. I hope you will also have

I think your choice is very good but you need to expand your cryptocurrency portfolio so that there was at least 10-15 altcoins. Risk diversification is very important.
