Title: Some History - Second Crypto Coin after Bitcoin
Post by: worldinacoin on August 21, 2013, 11:46:33 AM
Just trying to research into some history, anyone know, after Bitcoin, which is the first Alt-coin?  Is it Namecoin?  Do correct me if I am wrong.

There's this: https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin/wiki/History-of-cryptocurrency
Missing a few, but seems the most complete/concise

There's a few missing, I0coin was right after IXcoin, Terracoin is missing as well.

Solidcoin2 was a different coin from Solidcoin 1 with a centralized control node.

Yeah, i0coin was exactly what I was thinking when I said a few were missing. But the general timeline seems legit.

Devcoin was launched on August 5th 2011. I think it was the fourth coin to be launched and the third oldest surviving coin (ixcoin is dead to all purposes)
