Title: Where does the term Block Erupter come from?
Post by: dinarius on August 21, 2013, 01:05:55 PM
I think I understand most newbie stuff about BTC.
I'm curious where the term Block Erupter comes from. The 'Block' bit is obvious, but why's it called an Erupter? Isn't it just a hardware hashing device?
Thanks for enlightening me...

It is just the name they gave to their product. Why calling something galaxy s4, iphone, lumia? Same here, they decided to call their product "block erupter". It is an ASIC mining bitcoins, so the name want you to think about it as something wich erupts blocks  like a volcano  :D

Consider it like a brand name. Block Erupter is the brand name for an ASIC bitcoin hashing product

It's called Eruptor, because it will eventually burn down your house like a volcanoe erupting in your basement.
