How long to hold a cryptocoin/altcoins to earn good profits?

It depends on you sir! If you see that coin still developing its project and making it more productive by the developer maybe you can consider that to hold for as long as you want. Also if you think you are okay with the price of that coin you can sell that immediately but, if you're not satisfied then continue holding it.

Sometimes an altcoin depends on how the team designing the coin will do the development. This could mean a vision and purpose of the coin, besides what the coin will do so as to maintain and increase its popularity in the future. If it is clear, maybe it could be a consideration to buy and do Hold. But for me it's better to sell coins that we have when the price has increased, it is the simplest strategy and not troublesome of course. For me simplicity in doing strategy becomes an important thing. If we are too busy in taking care of the analysis and strategy we do then we can be charged thoughts so that the results will not be satisfactory.

It completely depends on your decision.
You are the only person who sets the goal to exist with a certain profit. Such as 2x 5x 10x 100x ??
And no one can tell you how long it may take to reach your goal which you set for your return on investment.

Decision to hodl may vary coin to coin, projects to projects...
I mean, if you have invested in a good project then it may worth to hodl for a long time and look for a good return.

sometime you do not need to wait it for a long time to bear the fruit but sometime you need to wait it for a while.
everything is depend on your goal and your strategy,
if you want to double it,you need a little bit more time compared to them who want to increase it by a few percents.
ideally it should be quarterly or yearly.

It depends on the altcoin and how much is the profit you want to get before selling it. But for me most altcoins are not good for long term investment (not all) because of the pump and dump and the whales that are manipulating the market, that is why I prefer short term trades when investing in altcoins, so that I can buy in dips and sell when it gets pumped by big investors. But it is still depends on you, if you think that coin have a potential to survive in future and can grow more then do it (it can be more profitable), because cryptocurrencies are speculative investment.

For me it is a mix of certain things like:

- Chart analysis
- Development
- Marketing / Adoption

You should check these 3, if you feel it is going up in the long term or its just a hyped alt that will die shortly after hype... just do your own research and do your best!

A good advice is to try and sell at ATH, but it is still risky!

it depends on what coin, and when you enter it.

for bitcoin, any time you buy it doesn't matter it will be a good HODL :D
in long term you will be in good profit.

altcoins depends on the coin but if you enter right before the pump you can hold it for a short time to get the biggest profit and then get out. but if you get in late after the pump is already over then you have to either dump with a big loss your keep waiting and praying that it gets pumped again maybe in 6 months or 1 year from now so you can get your money out.

I take it that you are referring to already existing coins and not those at ICO stages. Well, holding to make profit from these coins does not necessarily depend on how long one holds them. What is supreme is the news around the coin and how fast they record gains.

usually if you want to have profit from holding cryptos, it must take at lesat 6 months for you to see will the coin have the chance to bring us high profit or not, within 6 months if you don't see much risen of its value then you should sell to invest in another altcoins.

It really depends on you if how long you would want to hold on to your coins because there are some who would want to withdraw their coins after a month or a year or 5 years. So whichever it is convenient for you then hold it for as long as you want and can.

It depends at the coin you want to hodl of course, but if you wan't a descent profit hold that coin for maybe 6 months and you can get a very descent amount of profit.

6 months is never enough. Why did you invest to a coin or a project in the first place?

If you invested on Reality-Clash all for profit you can already dump it once it gets listed on big exchanges like kucoin or on binance as its price could go about +10%. But if you invest because you like the technology and wants to see how the token can be used in the game then hold it until the project is completely released and witness how its going to be used in the platform.

It all depends on you too long is also not good because the altcoin price change at any time and you will never know for sure. sometimes there are good altcoins and have a good future, but the DEV. cheat so that the altcoins are bleak. to keep your altcoins you have to be active in the sosmed.

No one can give the correct answer because the have different strategy and mindset. Most people will say 6 month - 1 year but that is relative, so I believe you must find your sell area ( take profit ) it self. Besides that, good profit also has number and some people really need only 50% not 100%. People say need only 50% because that's strategy to grow up fund not take profit direct into wallet. rockets launch straight after the ICO, other very belated and others will keep performing into the opposite direction until they are worthless.
Just look up the performances of coins by using charts, scroll back to their beginning (their first listings on exchanges) to where they stand now ..

Yes, you should need to be more updated when holding a certain project as we knew that there's a lots of sway in this market, knowing how your coins perform will lead you to decide whether its already time to sell or you needed to wait for some time to gain much bigger profits, crypto project is like a gem if you found it in the right place and time then you will really earn a lot.

I think if you believe in this market you should hold it for at least a year and even more i think , because most of the top 10 could have been bought very cheap at one point.If you would have held the nem airdrop which was free you would have been a millionaire if you sold at the right moment.

i believe when you choose to invest in altcoins should hold for at least a year to see will the coins become value on the market, but if not, you should sell to cut losses and invest in a new altcoin from ICOs if that altcoin don't have any dramatic change in the future.

This depends entirely on the coin and the circumstances, sometimes the best profits will come within a day, sometimes not for many years. It's really something you need to consider each situation uniquely. As an average I would say a few months will normally be the span between cycles, that is high to low trends, but over those months most coins grow as well.

This question is hard to answer as we all have different views regarding the handling of our coins. As Black Panda and Gabz999 stated, a coin can have a certain development based on how it is designed. It is through this that we can know how long we can keep it for because if it has reached its optimum state, then it would definitely be the right time to sell it. However, it is highly dependent on your decision as sometimes the values of the coin can be very unpredictable. Maybe if you set your profit goal and reached it, then that would be a way to know on when to keep holding on to it.

Well, if you want to earn a profit every day then you should trade. But, you must have knowledge that covers so that you do not get loss later on.

It clearly depends on which altcoin are you talking about. There are some who are for a long.. long term, and there are others who you might hold them for some days and they give you a x2.

I prefer to hold those coins who are for long term, like ChainLink, Quantstamp, and Flixxo.

A day or more is sure to wait for a good price increase on altcoin, but I prefer daily because altcoin is more volatile not like bitcoin, but there are also some altcoins that are suitable for long-term monthly or even yearly such as BCH or BTG.

You are the only one that can answer that question because it should be a function of your trading strategy. As a rule of thumb I only invest in coins for long term if I see the developers of such coins having a great team and are seriously executing a project that have real life applications. How long I hold such coins depend on the target or the durations I set for them. For some base on what I am seeing I have set a target of let say 1 year while for some it is when they hit certain price.  The most important thing is that you do your homework properly because some coins and are just shitcoin which you can't hold for long.

I think there is no fix time in holding altcoins since we do not know when the alt price will rise or dump so it depends to the alt price. On my experience, my first alt rise after a month of holding in my wallet. Another, the last I received my a payment from my signature campaign, it pumps within a few days. I think the highest price it reached is around 4 USD then down again.

The term of holding the coin should be decided by you. You must first strategise your trade and then start with it.
Decide how much gain you are aiming for and then stick to that. According to the gain you must hold on to your investment and then sell the coin as soon as you reach your profit. You must not regret of selling your coins since hou already had your profit. Dont be greedy and play your trade with a calm mind. Dont sell in a loss.

Generally only hold the good top altcoins for a longer period or if you can find the prospect among the newly listed coin which in future can grow a long way then you can hold such coins. Rest of the coins are generally being used for the pump and dump strategy and if you gain a good % in few days then you should ideally be selling and booking your profits and move on to another coin or sell partially if you still think it has some potential to grow future.

There's really no definite answer to that brother. Different coins, different movement, different teams and developers. Major coins like bitcoin are good for long term holding while some up and coming coins can be maximized for day trades.

Not easy to know, the first thing you need to concentrate yourself on is to look for the right altcoin, holding does not good when you are holding a scam coin, if you buy into one by mistake then you should sell and consider yourself lucky if you do not lose money, but if you were able to choose a good coin a good period of waiting can be something between 1 to 3 years.

In my opinion, if you hold altcoins for two years, then it would certainly get you a good profit.

Of course, there is no a standard answer! Sometimes - if you are a scalper and there is high volatility - you can make a big profit just in some hours.
In other situations, you need to hold a coin even one year or more.
With good technical analysis, you can take good decisions in this sense.

If you just bought a coin just before a HODL time then you may need to wait and hold much more to earn good.
But if you haven't buy something yet then it is good time to have some and waiting time is just about your target profit and type of the coin you have

For long time investing- one or two years preferring of course Bitcoin. Altcoins- depending on the project, some very interesting bat investing term mach short, jast wait for good profit.

Yes, all depends on you as a trader and holder.
Long or short is not always the same every time or it will be different on each cryptocurrency.
I dont think that the time is problem, because sometime the crypto is growing very fast and sometime very slow.

So if the price already makes you profit, no matter long or short then just sell it.

There is no specific time line to hold on to your coins,just follow the development team and their project timeline and then you will understand at what time the price would go higher,it is the only possible situation to understand when the price would move higher,other than that there is no other way rather than looking at the volume and trade accordingly.

If you are lucky it could take you just a few weeks, but you cannot bet on that. More reasonably you will have to wait for several months or one year to wait for the coin to get some traction. In some cases even more.
