Someone sent me some ethereum 2 days ago!I know they sent it: checked Etherscan
Has not shown up!
As far as I am concerned ethereum is a joke.

Everyone in this forum wants to talk about the price of ether but the fact is it is a flawed product!

Maybe that is just a scam, be aware of scammers and don't even give your private keys to everyone!

Resend the transaction with a higher gas price.

I think ethereum is not a joke, as long as I use ethereum safely, there is no constraint until my ethereum is not up, at least some time ago I have to wait ethereum to get to my wallet.

Tell him to cancel that transaction and resend again with higher gwei.
To cancel a transaction send 0ETH to self address with medium to high gas fee and wait for it to get confirmed.

the instructions you think are very correct, to get to your etherium faster, you have to set the gas higher, the higher the gas the faster and more expensive your transaction costs

Ethereum is a good high-tech cryptocurrency, but the blockchain congestion problem is terribly annoying and the devs need to do something about it.

The higher fee and gas price usually works, but in occasions like an exchange withdraw or some ICOs, in which you don't have any control over those factors, you just have to sit back and wait (maybe pray) until your transaction goes through!  >:(

You just need to be patient, you making transfer and not yet deliver does not make Ethereum a joke. The mistake might be from you, just be more patient and see what happens.

.... and they keep advertising ethereum as cheap transactions, fast, low fee, and without scaling problems but in reality everyone who has ever said it either had some stake in it and wanted the price to go up or they never made a transaction in their lives because they keep their ETH on exchanges for fast dumping purposes.

Sometimes sending coins can take a very long time. Especially if you put a low commission. You do not need to worry because it's useless. Now you only need to wait.

2.you can go to this site: https://ethgasstation.info/ check the ETH fee. If the fee is too low, it is easy to send failure and to wait longer. So when you send it, you choose the appropriate fee and then send it.

There are so many things that might have happened. Maybe the gas was not enough or the network is congested

Agreed trying to download the blockchain is a nightmare I had a contract address in mist that had some eth in it so I had to download the blockchain so I could sent it to my normal mew wallet well it took days unless you have high end hardware with a ssd good luck

You can't generalize the coin alone with just one error check it for yourself and analyze what happened instead of whining.

The main factor in the transaction jamming is the unsuitable GAS. And when in GAS costs to transact very expensive. I just always hope to get a solution for the cost of the GAS

if you are waiting for 2 days most probably its failed and must be returned to your wallet.
did you use low gas ? sometimes i do it and coins return to my wallet back.
try to double spend and you will get your coins back

It's all very simple. If you can see TX transactions on EtherScan, then the broadcast will really come. But if you do not see anything like that, then probably unfortunately this transaction is not.

Why are you so surprise? You know now to sent Ethereum transaction need much more gas than 2 month  ago. Even some Ico could not send their tokens to their investors.

you can ask the one who sent the ethereum to go on etherscan and add a gas on it, so the transaction can be done fast.
ethereum has many issues now, this started to happen when etherdelta started their ICO, i don't know if it's connected but it is really a fact!

Exchanges started to ask min $10 (in eth) fee to withdraw your ethcoins lately. While segwit adopted bitcoin has $1-2 fees why would anyone use eth now? That's the future for all alts. See? No alt with a blockchain can scale worldwide. It is just impossible.

Situation is not clear. What is platform are you using and from where are the coins. They are not cheap so it looks quite strange that you don’t know who is sender of this coins. Wait for some time more.

It's not that simple, the prices are all set by default on exchanges. So, it depends on what exchange the money is being sent from.

You have said it all, saying that ethereum is a joke then after this still seeking for opinions. For me I will want to research if such incidence has happened before and what was the result of such. there is definitely  a problem somewhere and Ethereum is not a joke.

You cant merely blame the ethereum ..you check other angle why it didnt went to your wallet..
If theres no tx hash shows on etherscan then it means there was no transaction made...
You must have been scammed ..

It seems to me that OP something is not understood. I have ETH transactions run 1 time every 2 days. There's never been a problem. The time to confirm my transactions is a few minutes. Check the transaction. You must have a link to the TX of the transaction. There you can always see what happened to your coins. Check. There's no ETH fault here.

It never happened to me. All transaction is always showed up to ether scan right after we send the transaction.
If it didn't show up, it might be the transaction is never happened or it cancelled

It has to be traffic and slow network if you are sure that the person sent you the Ether. It is either He did not sent it or his gas limit was low and the transaction did not go through. Ethereum has been working well for me and others.

The Ethereum transactions are really becoming very late these days. This happens because of huge transactions are occurring and the transactions are verified as first come first come and the Gas Limit used by the creator. So, if you want to make your transaction quick you should use higher GAS price.

Either you give the details of the transaction, or take your spam somewhere else. There is a possibility that you might have set the GWEI / Gas price to very low levels. But even then, the transaction should get confirmed within a few hours at the most.

Put a link to the transaction. Did she really end up a success? The balance of the other account decreased?

If its comes from an job that you got here in bitcointalk.org  maybe it got into traffic or rather your payment is waiting fro a free space to travel.

Or If the ethereum comes from a friend or some person you know and you can't contact him anymore you gpt scamed.

There is no problems and little  problem with gas here if:

gas prices is small it can't be sent to the person, it will just not be sent it automatically.

Its also the gas if gas succed in transfer but its in the minimum like I said low chances of faster transaction. If its in the more gas paid situation, well you can receives it in the possible time of a second or minutes and an hour or more that it cant be long (like 24hours)

Transactions can take so long at the time of any major ICO, or a large number of them.  And if the transaction did not pass, then in tx id it would be written - Error.  Likewise, if there was not enough gas, the transaction would not have passed.

This is a lot, I think that the whole point is that in recent years a lot of GWEI is used just to keep the network running. Perhaps this is due to the load on the network. Today the situation has changed very much.

If the transaction was sent through Metamask then there's an opportunity to change the gwei according to the current network load, or even reject the transaction and start it from scratch. In some cases transaction with very low gwei can be in pending state up to 7 days.

You're friend clearly don't know how to properly set gwei for a transaction. If your friend sets very low gwei like below 4.0 expect it to receive the ether after days during clogged days of ethereum network. When average pending transaction is below 4,000 then 10 gwei should suffice. Always check etherscan for average pending transaction to asses how much gwei should need for better confirmation chances.

I usually send Ethereum, and it comes very quickly if I set the right gas. Sometimes there are problems when to sent from the exchange, but I always received Ethereum within two days.

I had a situation like this. I was helped by the cancellation of transactions and the implementation of it again. Sometimes processing simply does not work out the application in the measure of load.

Transaction is just congested my friend, If you double check again your transaction and bot wallet are correct and transaction is just pending! It's like on the line on the counter many transaction now a days so wait a little longer, I am waiting also for my ETH from my faucet. It will come.

Thanks for that information mate. I didn’t know that a sent transaction can also be cancelled and there is such a process. I thought that ethereum or bitcoin once sent cannot be cancelled and remain stuck in between until they are received by a person at a particular address. Although I knew that sending with high gas confirms the transaction quickly. But if that’s the case, it can be said that blockchain transactions are reversible and this might also be risky. But again it helps many people to process their stuck transaction.

I sometimes wonder how some of us in the crypto business portray some level of impatience whenever we encounter some common payment issues. We get so excited and call great platforms like Ethereum platform bad names. It's very unfortunate.  It's true that right now we are experiencing transfer problems with Myetherwallet but that does not guaranty anyone in this crypto business to tag to our amazing smart contract platform a joke. Let us learn to be patient in life because there is no problem without a solution. I believe the transfer problem will be rectify very soon by the developers. I think the slow transaction and the fees are one of the two biggest problems in cryptos in general that I'd like to see solved.

Waiting more than 2 days is just too annoying.

I haven’t heard about ethereum getting stuck for 2 days. Every transaction of ethereum that I have done has completed within 5 mins. I don’t know where you received the ethereum. If its on a trustable wallet such as blockchain,etc than it might be problem with transaction, but its on some exchange site or other website then it is highly possible that the site is a scam and the transaction is stuck by them. Also check that the address was all correct letter to letter and number to number. I have never heard of any problem with ethereum transaction. Also try contacting support of the wallet.

Ethereum is not a joke, it can be due to low gas fee, and i think that should be the problem,  you can try to resend it with an appropriate gas fee (reset the gas limit).
Always remember to keep your private keys safe, don't be scammed!

Yes, that issue must be fixed as one doesn’t have control over setting the gas and paying higher fees while withdrawing from an exchange, etc. But if I see at my transaction, all were done at lower gas and were confirmed within 5 minutes. I have never experienced congestion in ethereum network as of so far, whereas bitcoin on the other hand often has that problem. My transactions in bitcoin are not confirmed for 3-4 days for many time. This scalability issue of crypto currencies must be solved as the demand is increasing and so are the transactions.

According to me, ethereum has cheap transactions and is quite fast. In all my transactions, the fees was charged below 0.5 dollars and was confirmed within the next 5 minutes unlike bitcoin where I paid 10$ still wasn’t confirmed for 3 days. As far as I have experienced, ethereum though is less scalable, still my transactions have never been stuck and I have never observed congestion in its network.

It processes its transactions pretty fast. And I don’t know what you are taking about being illusion cause ethereum was built to upgrade blockchain technology and it has done so by bringing into operation smart contracts. Ethereum still seems pretty healthy project to me.

There is may be a problem with nodes in the data-center. In this situation i was helped to cancel the transaction and reissue it again.

If it doesn't showing a pending transaction that transaction should be failed say to the one who sent ETH to check his wallet it should be in his wallet. and tell him to next time when sending use little bit higher gas prices than ongoing using price for a quick transaction as your wish(can find using https://ethgasstation.info) and tell him to send you the tx id you can check transaction status using etherscan.io

Re check the transaction, it will indicate it's status like transaction failed due to less gas. Or retry it again with a higher gas price.

Sometimes the transaction can take 2-3 days. Maybe it is not a scam but there is a chance it is. Wait and convince yourself 

After 2017 ethereum2s blockchain is more crowded than ever so its hard to guess anything. I would suggest you to wait some more and probably it will deliver if not you should set gas price higher in future..

That sounds funny. I think it's because you don't understand the blockchain, so it's a failure to transfer eth.
If you haven't been packing successfully, you should try to increase the handling fee.

Resend the transaction with a higher gas price. Because you keep the gas too low. I gas 40. and within 1 minute is to complete the transaction

maybe it's because the gas is too small that makes the transaction get delay for 2 days because as far as I know, from the normal gas, I always increase 20k or 30k to send and it's no need to wait too long to receive in my wallet. so I think before you want to make a transaction, make sure that you use higher gas so you don't have to get any delays.

Did you maybe sended contract to contract? If you did that, then you must talk to support whoever owns that wallet. Yous shouldn't send ethereum from contract to contract, common mistake, that also happens if you are sneding eth from one exchange to other. You should send ethereum from contract(ex. bitstamp exchange) to your wallet, and then to other contract(ex. poloniex)

everyone had experienced that kind of network congestion as I did.
a friend of mine sent me 0.05 ETH to my wallet but it also took a couple of days before I received it so I think it's normal because network congestion is a sign of heavy traffic that many people are using Ethereum that time.
But most of the time, this days, it seems pretty normal that sending ETH will only take around 10 minutes of waiting.

the last time my friend sent me ETH it did took a couple of days but Yes, I think it's a gas issue because everyone want's to send coins with a minimum of gas as possible.
I think my friend only gave a little gas as a result of couple of days of queuing and processing.
it should be set on higher amount of gas so that miners will then set it to higher priority than other queue.
