Does anyone know if these will be any good for mining? I can also get the V8XXX and V9XXX cards. I assume these are the new generation of processors from ATI, but I don't know if they will be any good for mining. No, the current VLIW4 generation Firepro cards are the V7900 and the V5900. And only those two.I assume these are the new generation of processors from ATI, but I don't know if they will be any good for mining. The rest of the Firepro line are VLIW5, same microarchitecture as 5870 and 5850. Generally you can, but shouldn't be using these for bitcoin mining. Because bitcoin mining uses OpenCL, and normal desktop cards are completely unrestricted for OpenCL usage. So it makes no sense to pay the price premium for workstation cards. |
