I'd only really see it being a matter of how comfortable you are with Slackware. I haven't used it for a couple years but beyond PATH configuration, ATI drivers and it's APP SDK, and pulling the latest git repository of your chosen miner (if not a binary) I can't see it being much more difficult to deal with. If you're like me you might actually find it easier whereas assumptions are not being made for you and having to set things the way you like.  ;D

Good luck!

I use Slackware, and anything that's open-source you can compile for Linux. Although this site (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bitcoin#Mining) is specifically for ArchLinux distro, it mentions all the Linux mining software.

Also, I've built some Slackware packages of cpuminer (minerd), bitecoin-qt, etc., if anyone's here's interested. You can find them here (http://moerwiki.us.to/misc/Bitcoin%20Slack%20packages/).
