which linux do you use? have fedora tested but since I can not deb. install files.

do you recommend ubuntu?

i am no linux expert but it is not a .deb file, it is  a tarball (tar.gz file) that you can download from the official website Electrum.org and install that[1]

if you want to move to Ubuntu, it is a good distro with a lot of history and a lot of users. you can find a lot of help because of that. it is easy to use and has a lot of "flavors" that you can choose from if you don't want the heavy DE. for example LUbuntu is the light version of it which uses LXDE desktop.

I've heard that arch has the latest packages in its repos however when it comes to other distros it is best to install from source using pip3. That's because electrum has a very fast release cycle while distro package maintainers don't release as often so you get outdated packages on distro repos.

I use opensuse myself but debian is good too :)
