Now Bitcoin being a currency <like fiat & credit cards> and having value, would make it a target for hackers. The Bitcoin software or protocol has never been hacked, but the services around it, where they make use of their own software, has been hacked before. <Exchanges / Wallet providers etc.> Bitcoin <The technology> cannot write the software for all these companies, so they are not responsible for the security of these services.
