Title: Why China is always bad news for bitcoin?
Post by: cybersofts on January 21, 2018, 07:49:56 AM
This may sound funny but that is the reality. why?
Though the title says it all, you know China was the once the safe haven for bitcoin and bitcoiners.
Then, China started doing something to hurt the bitcoin and cryptocurrency in-general from banning ICOs to cryptocurrency exchanges and now they are after bitcoin miners, again... What is your thought on this matter? Share with us. thanks :)

This is a stupid country.
Is mainly the corruption in this country is quite serious, so the BTC and encryption currency is the way of the transfer of natural assets, it will make most of the assets transferred to foreign countries, China's so countries need to control the problem of foreign exchange, this is the fundamental.

you are right, this does sound funny ;D

I have been using bitcoin for nearly 4 years now and I have checked out some of the history of the previous years such as 2013, 2012 and 2011 and as far as I can tell China was the worst place for bitcoiners.

what country do you think all these years were "banning bitcoin" if not China? LOL
do a little googling and you will find the news of "China banned bitcoin" every couple of months like clockwork.

so I don't know what this period of time that China was "once safe haven" means...

Because BTC brings people wealth, they are afraid of people's wealth.
Also afraid of people transferring wealth, so these are all bitcoins can be done!
Banning BTC can protect their interests! Maintain their rule!

I got the information from the online media, the miners in china mamang so much that the Chinese government forbids mining because mining uses electricity so the Chinese government prohibits mining bitcoin. mining in china every month can get bitcoin 3-6

bitcoin can make people more wealthier and goverment don't want it because they can't control bitcoin, they can control people with tax but they want a big pot so they can control the whole people, they just avoided a revolt i think

This is a stupid country.

And yes, just like any other big and powerfull country, they are corrupt, they want to make money, and they want to centralize everything.

So why would they enjoy seeing how their population is becoming decentralized? Of course that they will try to regulate bitcoin and cryptos.

Because many people who are in this crypto game comes from them also as I am aware they control the most hashing power because of the low cost of power cost. China is a healthy and good market that's why, look at the volume on their exchanges.

Other than that some people might be afraid that their government don't do things like this and they are uncertain.

I do not know to that country but I always heard that they always banned bitcoin.  Maybe some Chinese are really into bitcoins and they are unstoppable.  Their government always banned bitcoin because it is protecting their personal interest maybe.  And their people are really into bitcoin that is why there is always a need for ban.

From what you have said that China is the safe haven of Cryptocurrencies, then there is something fishy about it. If they are a strong supporter of Bitcoin and other coins, maybe they have a hidden agenda why they are spreading news like that. What I am thinking is that, they want people to be afraid and pull out their money. So that they can buy it a very much lower price.

I really think that China is manipulating bitcoin. They spread news about bitcoin and people start panicking and sell their bitcoin. Bitcoin price goes down, and China buys in cheap bitcoin. So, I think the best thing to do is just to stay calm when everyone else is panicking and buy the dip.

China is the land of communist so they can do what they want and never care for the citizen of their country only take care the economy of their government, but still they not yet banned bitcoin or crypto currency usage they just banned ICOs and all trading exchanges.I think still many people uding bitcoins in china or the demand of bitcoin will get worse and price may crash to its worst.
And there is another bad news that they banned miners but I don't know the trueness of that news. They are doing these kind of actions because it cutoff the revenue of their country largely. No one can involve in this matter because China is a powerful country and their decision will be final on anything.

China was some kind of motor for Bitcoin during the last years.
Unfortunatelly many people in China used it to bring money out of the country, and the government there did not like that.
So chinese government made it harder to work with bitcoin and put up some regulations.
And those regulations the motor, that causes the bad news.

Then you have to keep in mind that in certain time intervalls intentionally rumors were created to bring the price down in order to get cheap coins.
Those rumors work best if they are about troubles in the most important bitcoin country.

Well, China is still safe for Bitcoin and Bit-coiners, but unfortunately it can be unsafe for them anytime in future. The Chinese government officials might did that to alarm the crypto users that anything could happen in their country.

Then, China started doing something to hurt the bitcoin and cryptocurrency in-general from banning ICOs to cryptocurrency exchanges and now they are after bitcoin miners, again.

Yeah, that banning of some well-known cryptocurrency exchanges was a really bad decision by Chinese government as that affected the whole crypto-world to some extent, but I highly doubt that was a drama to make whale investors and holders sell their Bitcoins for cheaper.

Although, I am not really sure that they're good or bad for Bitcoins, but I think that what they did was a really amazing thing at that time, and just because of their ban the Bitcoin's value increased to a new level. It went from $2200 to $18000 under 3 months and many of the investors made huge profits in that period.

bad example.
instead imagine cell phone, laptop, computer, ... any new technology and imagine if your government wants to ban them after they came out and there were some demand for it.

meanwhile the rest of the world are enjoying all these technologies, adopted them and have been working with them improving their country and now they are light years ahead of the country that banned cell phones, computers and internet....

Looks like you do not know a thing about China. Try to look at Wikipedia at first, before to make such conclusions. The level of corruption is very low there, mostly because such cases punished by death there.
I think Chineese government just trying to protect their citizens from possible loose from crypto currencies investments. I think they really care about their citizens, cause of if bitcoin will fall where all this people will go to complain? Nowhere.

As a bitcoiners and an investor in bitcoin, nothing is worse than the feeling that bitcoin is ban in your country and cannot be cashed out in your country because that would be a nightmare it's like having something which cannot be used and not functioning and would be useless for the owner to keep it.

Yes, i agree to it that china has seen it coming in negative way of dealing in their country, thats why they banned bitcoin on their country and the other cryptocurrency. China banned the Initial Coins Offerings and the Bitcoin tradings due to high percentage of using cryptocurrency which is higher than using China's settled fiat for exchanges. Government wants to control their assets inside their country not to be controlled by a decentralized system.

Its because a lot of chinese has been getting a lot of money via bitcoin and becoming millionaires, and these millionaires doesnt pay taxes through their government. Thats why if you dont pay taxes its better to shutdown all the mines and exchanges. The decision of Chinese government maybe harsh but i think its for the betterment of their economy.

China started doing something to hurt the bitcoin and cryptocurrency in-general from banning ICOs to cryptocurrency exchanges and now they are after bitcoin miners.

There are still a lot of neighboring countries in Asia that doesnt ban bitcoin maybe these miner and exchanges can find a place there to set their businesses. As for the ICO, some ICO are scam its better in my opinion to ban them and not let a single money of the investor be put to waste.

China? Been a safe haven for bitcoiners before? Huh..I don't think so. Or maybe there is something I might be missing. Since I began my journey with bitcoin and through my researches, China has not Been so. It hurts me also why this restrictions where be placed by their government on their interested citizens. But the truth still remains that, in as much as the government keeps trying so hard, bitcoiners in that state will still go on with either investing or trading one way or the another. This is the 21st century.

China is scared for their fiat CNY to not be thrown into waste, as it would be considering the economy of China. It was one of the first countries embracing Bitcoin, mining almost 70% of all BTCs, considering the electricity there is cheap. Their official reason is the "electricity, environmental issues and tax" but I think we all can see much beyond that.

When was China ever a safe heaven for bitcoins?I don't remember it at all.China had the most number of miners mainly because of cheap electricity and they had made lots of money with bitcoins without paying taxes so government started attacking all exchanges and as most number of miners were from China ,it affected bitcoins prices. And China has been trying to ban bitcoins for a long time, every year there was some news related to China banning bitcoins and it has also banned ICOs.

It is not forbidden for China to want to control the rapid development of the ICO and its variations. China is where many technologies are growing fast with the bad, the fraud.

Apart from China, many other countries also have negative information. However, China is a big market of bitcoin and bad news is launched periodically for the purpose of establishing prices on the trading market.

It is because China is too populated and the effect of that massive users or miners can greatly affect the cryptocurrency market.

This is true. China is a place of surveillance so it doesnt make sense to them to allow something that would help their citizens become anonymous. It's also possible that they're trying to kill it completely. That's why they've been banning it and unbanning it. They're trying to crash the market by causing the investors to panic sell.

It's also note worthy that there's been a change of power in china in 2012. Ever since, there's been a power struggle between the former and current incumbent general secreatary. The first ban happened on 2013. Perhaps the ban is a result of an internal power struggle to purge the former ruling parties.

There is nothing wrong in banning of ICO's and i hope the rest of the countries will be doing the same and expect these kind of bans this year too from other countries, the reason is simple, these projects are collecting millions of dollars with no restrictions and there are many scams and we need to change that as some disappeared with millions of dollars without any reciprocation.

I think china began to acknowledge that there was indeed power and money from cryptocurrency and they wanted to have a facade that they hate it that they did by banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in china. China was once the safe haven?

Not at any point in which I remember it. Sure it had some big markets and was a large proponent of the network, but it was never anything that was explicitly good. They always had some mining farms in one way or another, some kind of market here and there which generated attention, but it never did anything until they started to do "bad" things.

China is bad news because it shows what a government should be doing about Bitcoin if they were true to their governing ethos, and having a government like that is bad news in general. It's not like they're exceptionally special, really.

Actually, I do not agree with your answer. Now that bitcoin is threatening that country's sovereignty, it is really a fuss. The government is guarding that the current bitter bitcoin is jumping off the floor after its natural collapse, so let it cool down first. I think this time the Chinese government is a rare enlightened person. Ten years ago, the Chinese government indiscriminately cut off the government of the entire game console market and industry in China (which is still a real economy). Instead, the fiery bitcoin is actually not a one-size-fits-all Clarify its status (virtual goods), surgery-like adjustments.

For my point of view, I think there will be something big will happen this first quarter of this year. Like last quarter of 2017, China ban exchangers which provide a deep over the market and skyrockets to by the end of the month of November to $19.9k in the market. With these bad news, manipulation really present in the market which make the softhand withdraw and big investors of bitcoin will enter again which makes the market pump. If you will try to check the marketcap from the daily basis, almost $80 billion dollars increase in the marketcap before China announces a good new from adoptation of credit market by the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC).

It confuses me, because they strive to better their economy, and crypto would do just that... They also invested so much money into BTC... It's unfair how much they can manipulate.

Their government wants to control everything, media social is not even allowed in the country, and now also contains bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. They just want things that come from them, and things they can control. They want things that will give them an advantage. Bitcoin, miners and the crypto industry are a threat to them...

Call it bias or not, it is a fact that China is a communist country. Their government want to control everything, facebook and google is not even allowed in that country, and now bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as well. They only want things that came from them, and things they can control. They want things that will give them benefit. Bitcoin, miners and crypto industry is a threat to them. Let us hope for our brothers there to remain safe and anonymous while engaging in trading and mining.
I agree with you, because this is the reason why their government that was they want control the people, especially related to the money they don't want give a chance to earn, because bitcoin will make people to become rich. Maybe if they allowed bitcoin in their country they could not control anything. Or they think bitcoin is a threatening on their country, because theirs a lot of problem facing on their own country.

I think it's some kind of strategy
where if it has reached the target to make a news
with over a reason for example banned in its place
so the price goes down
and if the price drops in buy again
continue to make new news again
to rise again and reach the desired target
well I think like that

I think china began to acknowledge that there was indeed power and money from cryptocurrency and they wanted to have a facade that they hate it that they did by banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in china. However I believe that they have found something or into something and that they would unleash it once its perfected and it would be rivalling that of bitcoin

I believe all the news that coming from China is just to manipulate the market. I see different news from China all the time, not all of them negative tough. Some is supporting the bitcoin. I kind of believe that they are just increasing their positing by manipulating market with those news.

China has always been strict with internet censorship and bitcoin--which runs in the internet-- is not an exception. Perhaps they see the pseudo-anonimity of it as a threat to people's security or even to its own economy. There's a possibility that these news were just a ploy to control the market but imo, this is a genuine effort of their government to cope to the increasing demand for cryptos.

Governments do not want to see competing currencies. They threaten their monopoly to create money and control the financial system and the economy. Actually, the reason China is the first big government to take such action isn’t an accident. China more than any other country wants to have firm control of its banking system, and allocate credit according to a political agenda. This means that a competing currency like the Bitcoin would threaten its political system. The People’s Bank of China halted operations for digital currency trading platforms over concerns that the unregulated markets could pose major financial risks. Without the backing of a central bank asset and institutional support, it is not clear how a private digital currency at the centre of a large-scale payment system would behave, or whether the payment system would be able to function.

Yes China has a very large population and are major investors I.e  holders  in cryptocurrencies whatever action taken by their government will have a drastic impact on the price of Cryptos recall when Chinese government started clamping down exchanges in the middle of 2017 the price of bitcoin dropped thereafter recovered,  as it is now China government going after miners will compound scaling issues of bitcoin invariably more problems ahead.

The Chinese leadership's number one aim has always been to preserve their leadership. Nothing else matters. Something like an unfettered Bitcoin is very certainly not going to help their grip on the country. I'm surprised it took them so long to stop the party.

Nothing good has come out of China for BTC. Their zero fee exchanges had an absolute stranglehold over the price. They would squash every rally from the West and then start over again. The rise above $1000 again only started when they were shut down.

Chinese mining has been a complete cancer on Bitcoin. China has never contributed anything significant to Bitcoin's development. All China has done is take and take and take.

I'd love it if their miners were removed for good, but they're just migrating abroad instead.

I do not think China is ambitious. China is more worried about it. Fearing that there are still too many people in the Chinese economy to become followers, this is a very serious issue. After the rise and fall of the Internet bubble around 2000, I am also beginning to worry that more people will commit suicide. Therefore, the Chinese government should draw on the experience of the internet bubble and become more rational.

There are many reasons, of course, but in my mind, it is very likely that they are sending some negative news about bitcoin, causing some Chinese holders to sell bitcoin, the price drops, and the government itself takes the opportunity to buy it. This is my idea because they said it has been a long time since Bitcoin was banned, but until now I have learned that many Chinese are still working on bitcoin.

This is the most direct to the point answer whom I agree with. China can not control the bitcoin nor their government can not benefit from it. For them, its better to create a same cryptocurrency or a copy cat that is based on their country besides they have many people or population to used it too which is an advantage to them.

China is a big country and the people of this country is a big help into the biycoin world. This is the possibilty why somehow bitcoin decrease its value due to massive selling of bitcoin holders from China. Buy what a i read in the website, China wants to create their own token that people from their country should support. Also, they are also preventing any scam from other ICO's (not all, we must say there are some).

This is a stupid country.
Is mainly the corruption in this country is quite serious, so the BTC and encryption currency is the way of the transfer of natural assets, it will make most of the assets transferred to foreign countries, China's so countries need to control the problem of foreign exchange, this is the fundamental.
china is not a open country for fiat currency. While Bit or other altcoins have break such tradition.
Lots of money have exchange abroad by altcoins or bit secreatly without government monitor.
Well, as the feature of bit or altcoins, it is for sure that we still can do something about encryption currency though china has denied it.

China isn't ALWAYS bad news for bitcoin, much of bitcoin's early explosion in growth was due to the miner boom in China. Currently, China holds the lead for the most hashing power, because of this, they always hold a lot of sway in the value of bitcoin, and the level of fees required for transactions to be confirmed quickly. Recently, news about China's changing crypto regulations caused a small crash in the BTC price, due to misinformation, as nobody mentioned a ban, and yet panic still ensues.

I think the Chinese government really like the idea of centralized currency where the government controls every penny. They hate bitcoin because it is the currency which is truly decentralized, they can't control it while their people are using it. Bitcoin is the currency of the people by the people. it gives people freedom by putting them in control of their money.

Because it is a populous country in the world and is still in the developing countries stage, the decentralized currency such as bitcoin can easily make the country's economy run out of control. However, there are still many investors in China, so countries often issue corresponding policies.

Based on the reports and articles china's Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), which has become a popular method for blockchain projects to quickly raise funds are being shutdown. Also the two major Bitcoin exchanges, OKCoin and ViaBTC are reportedly will end up to closing. The china's quasi-official reason for the hammer dropping is to protect Chinese citizens from financial fraud. In addition China’s economy is suffering. There are rumors flying that the government will devalue the yuan.Thats the reason why china is always been bad news in bitcoin.

China.. is a big country. In size as well as in population. That's just a fact.

So quite logically, the community of bitcoinners there is quite large... Just because there are more people in the country than in many others. So, the community is large and each time the government makes an annoucement, of course, many people are directly affected by what has been decided.

Thus, you have this effect of "bad news" whenever there's a statement from the Chinese government.

Though, actually, what China does and says and so on, does not directly have impact on bitcoin. The impact exists only because some people (Chinese I guess but not only) start panic selling and buying when there is any statement from China.

So China is not a threat, just an indicator! ;)

Share with us. thanks :)

They always come up with issues and bad news about bitcoin.
It is clear that lately, China has slowly attacking the world of cryptocurrency. Starting from bitcoin regulation in the country, banning Initial Coin Offering (ICO), and now they are attacking miners in their own country.

With the robe of his greatnes, the Chinese government destroyed the bitcoin, then they wash it and clean it up, after that they force the bitcoin to run as fast and as far as possible, then the Chinese government chase it back and they do the same thing like that has happened brfore.

I think, bitcoin has been considered, as guinea pig by the Chinese government.

China like to control everything which includes its national currency CNY. So it is not surprising.

But the way China handle crypto with news that ban crypto and then news that say it is all fuds. It is really questionable whether the government officials are trying to manipulate Crypto prices.

The actions of the chinese government have a major impact on bitcoin, as China is one of the largest users of crypto.

There is an incident before where icos has been banned on china and that is the bad news since professional crypto analyst are saying that china has the 30% of contribution on the market. The country china has a lower electricity consumption bills and it was really good to run your mining rig on their area, obviously they are getting a lot of profit from it.

My opinion, despite banning bitcoin, but as one of the virtual currency trading centers in the world, I believe what the Chinese government is doing now is just part of China's strategy to hinder the rate of bitcoin transaction development, because China wants to create and owns a legitimate crypto from the government, and could be more profitable to the state.
Because so many things were previously banned in China, but they eventually made themselves and succeeded and benefited the Chinese government itself...... :)

This is a stupid country.
Is mainly the corruption in this country is quite serious, so the BTC and encryption currency is the way of the transfer of natural assets, it will make most of the assets transferred to foreign countries, China's so countries need to control the problem of foreign exchange, this is the fundamental.

It's a communist country that is what they do. They also lie to you and say we are all equal. -_-

Now we have to deal with this shit and bitcoin is dipping like crazy over here freaking 9k$ wtf is even going on that government there in China seriously. When will the people rebel against it? Oh.... It's because they have already been brainwashed by the government.

China does not know da way!!

I hope the dust settles soon and China just goes away and stays away. The number of coins in distribution will bring the price back up if we completely ignore China because their coins won't be among ours. Let's just exclude them, it seems that is what they really want. I actually think this is a good thing. Once Bitcoin goes back up and is more stable the price will go up even more because we won't have to compete with so many Chinese miners with free/very cheap electricity.

Although China has a lot of bitcoin users the government started recently to prepare a barrier for the bitcoin, since this crypto is hard to control and their government dominates everything on internet, they have found a solution to make it down by making it illegal claiming that bitcoin is a fraud and they have already blocked the trading, bitcoin got weakened a lot because of this disruption though, but i believe this problem will be fixed soon.

I think china began to acknowledge that there was indeed power and money from cryptocurrency and they wanted to have a facade that they hate it that they did by banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in china. The country with the most bitcoin in the world is China, but most bad news about bitcoin comes from this country. This proves that Chinese speculators, after selling the high volume of bitcoin at high prices, will continue to create bad news to buy bitcoin at very low prices and sell at high prices many times in a year. That is why the bad news about bitcoin comes mostly from China.

Love them or hate them, the fact is that most of the cryptocurrency activity comes out of Asia, and China is a large part of that.  So when the Chinese government starts to impose or threatens to impose restrictions the danger is that they are cutting off a huge supply line of investors in that area.  If I said I was banning bitcoin in my house, it would not move the markets, because I am not even a rounding error with the market.  However if China says it then it is talking about potentially restricting billions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency

Bitcoin has been known as a paradise for Bitcoiner as it holds more than 60% of Bitcoin. But as more and more people in China invest in Crypto, the economy of the country is affected, and the projects do not call for capital because almost all investors here turn their assets into crypto. In particular, many people here try to launder their money by converting them into Bitcoins illegally.

The Chinese government always wanted to control things in their own way, yet the bitcoin is fully decentralized and highly secured. The bitcoin was invented as a peer-to-peer digital currency backed with strong encryption. The bitcoin is a revolution that is changing the world by providing privacy and freedom to the people which is what people want everywhere across the world. I think the Chinese government sees there is no way to control bitcoin that is why they decided to ban it.

Share with us. thanks :)

i also still confuse about china giverment decision.
it is start from mid of 2017 when BTC reach 5k USD,china begin to try kill cryptocurrency.are they so scared with blockchain technology ? or they scared Cryptos will replace their CNY ?

I hate Chinese, sometimes they make false information to force the bitcoin prices down and of course they will buy bitcoin when the bitcoin price is low.

Why are you so focused on China anyway? They are not the only big country involved in Bitcoin and the role of China is not so important like people would like to think. And don't forget that not all news that come from China are true so don't exaggerate the consequences that might happen.

China has a long history of controlling the internet.  They definitely would not going to leave something so decentralized and distributed unmonitored.
