Title: What's the scam here? 1060's on ebay brand new for under $100 USD - huh?
Post by: chemvidswoot on January 21, 2018, 08:01:07 AM
Hey guys - I'm sure this is some kind of scam - but what is it exactly? You have a high feedback 100% positive seller. Ebay moneyback guarantee. Item described as new. It makes no sense.

Only previous sales appear to be sports cards. Last sale 1+ year ago. This is a money grab through paypal. Sell as many cards as he can before the listing is shut down. Transfer money out of paypal as fast as he can after creating a bunch of fake shipping labels. Claim the account was hacked.

Good luck on it. Paypal has pretty good protection. Will tie some money up for a bit until it is reverse. Who knows. Maybe it works out and he ships them.

Ahhh - thanks. Interesting - I would think ebay's AI would be smart enough after all these years to be able to determine scam listings like this. Wouldn't be too hard. Something like "BIN price is 90% less than market clearing price for a very hot item selling XYZ units per month" - then flag it for review.

There are now several other ebay listings with similar 90% discounts on various hot NVIDIA cards.

I have won a bid on items like this before. They usually send me a email stating they are sorry but the listing has been voided due to violations or the item is not real.  Kinda like this

Code:
This listing (**********) has been removed, or this item is not available.
Please check that you've entered the correct item number
Listings that have ended 90 or more days ago will not be available for viewing.
