Very interesting article about Lightning on Wired.com
In 2014, Joseph Poon and Thaddeus Dryja were bitcoin-obsessed engineers hanging out at pizza-fueled meetups in San Francisco. Their conversation often turned to the central problem of bitcoin: How to make it more useful?

This is already happening actually. The lightening network nodes have doubled in the last few days as BTC users switched on to it because of its benefits of its quicker transactions. But this enthusiasm is not ubiquitous because casual trader does not trust the LN nodes yet and are wary that it might cause loss their funds because of any technical loopholes. But still as the testing continues the support is still genuine and it could solve long standing BTC problem of long transaction times.
