Title: What Hardware is used in the Butterfly Labs Mining Cards?
Post by: Sioux on August 23, 2013, 08:22:40 PM
Are there some specific informations about the hardware?

Details on how it is constructed?

Eample "The Monarch"
http://www.butterflylabs.com/monarch/

600 GH/s
Power
350W
Price
$4,680

Not only "the monarch" -other mining chips/constructions are also included
in the question

Do you mean details on how it may be constructed a year or more from now?

How can we know? BFL doesn't even know what it will look like inside.

What are the "guts" of the other already released mining chips?

Where to find specific informations about the mining hardware?

It hasn't been made yet and will take at least 6-12-18-24 months until it's made, so it's hard to say now.

you mean 6-12-2400 lol :0)

Ok, to offer a serious answer now....take a look at the reference designs released by Avalon.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200668.0

I realize these aren't anything like BFL designss, but the basic board architecture won't be that different.

They will at least give you some insight in to the board layouts/layers, chip placement, power sources etc.

I'm not sure what format they were released in, I think it was Altium but perhaps someone has converted them to Eagle or some pcb design software that is easier to use for the average hobbyist.

Edit: I found the BFL reference design as well...
https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/3295-bitforce-sc-pcb-schematics.html

I haven't looked at it but this is what info they have on their site. (If it's from BFL it's sure to be disappointing.)

It probably uses fumes from turds that are critically compressed until they become the stuff of [fume induced] dreams and [oxygen deprived] nightmares.
