Title: What are stakes?
Post by: makoitus on January 22, 2018, 06:57:47 AM
Hello guys, good day to everyone! I was just wondering what stakes are? Can anybody tell me more about it? You see I was going through the Bounty pages here on the website and I saw social media campaigns where in they wrote there the number of stakes you'll get per week depending on your follower/friends count. So I thought, stakes is the payment right? And if it is, what do I do with it and is there like a certain wallet or website where I can convert that to cash?  ;D I'm really sorry if I'm asking dumb questions guys, I just want to understand more what these things are before I actually join campaigns.

Will be waiting for responses guys. Thank you so much!

Hello

Each stake has X number of coins that will be known after bounty will finish. It depends from total number of participants.
After bounty finished bounty coins pool will be divided for all stakes. For example, we have 10k coins and 4stakes total from all participants. That means 1stake will receive 2.5k coins
Hope this will help

it's a system that probably got most attention during the waves signature campaign.
Unlike regular campaigns, in this system, members don't get paid by fixed rates or pay per post rates.
There is a total budget for the campaign (which should be mentioned in the thread somewhere) and users get paid distinct shares of that total budget.
If you have X stakes, your payment would be: (total budget)*(personal stakes/total stakes).
E.g. having 10 stakes in a 5BTC campaign with a total size of 1000 stakes would give you 5BTC*(10/1000)=0.05BTC.

There's no definite answer what is better or worse, it always depends on the individual campaign.

Lutpin descrived it nicely.you can also read the old post about stake from here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1715881.0

Stakes are like yours percentage of all possible. You get 10 stakes, i get 15, then all bounty token count devides by 25 and we get exact percentage of overall tokens.

Does this have to do with staking (like proof of stake) vs POW?
