Title: Remote access and screen resolution
Post by: Amstellodamois on January 23, 2018, 07:44:24 PM
The motherboard: an Asus Prime Z270-A

I disconnected the TV from my motherboard.
Now, windows doesn't recognize the onboard graphics AND forces a super low resolution when I connect with TeamViewer.

Here is my screen:

And obviously, the Radeon setting app can't open in a 640*480...

I know the easiest solution is to buy a dummy HDMI plug but that's not the fastest solution. So, what can I do?

use RDP instead of teamviewer
it's an easiest way

I chose TeamViewer because it was easier over the internet (I don't have to know my dynamic IP address).

But I'm willing to swith to RDP if it allows me to force a resolution.

you should try it, I never had those issues on Asus Prime Z270-A motherboards, I even got a VPN router for my farm to be able to connect to LAN and use RDP safely, before that I was using Radmin, but RDP is way better

It's no better with Chrome remote desktop.

I can't figure out how to make the windows thing to work at the moment. Working with a 640x480 screen is pretty terrible...

Pick up one of these. They make the PC think it has a monitor and it keeps the 1080p resolution.

I know but I won't have it tonight nor tomorrow.
Maybe I could cut my cable and solder some components but that's a bit of a pity.

I can't believe there isn't a software solution!

This is the correct answer, I have one plugged into the on board HDMI port of three separate mining rig motherboards, and now they are all full resolution when I remote in, very similar to the link and I picked mine up at Amazon as well.

Do you have some choice resolution-wise, at least?
I'd like 1600x900
