Title: New to BTC. How does my soon to be rig sound? what wallet should I use? Post by: haxanator on August 26, 2013, 04:36:38 PM Hello everyone! I have been following the scene for some time now and now have the cash to start BTC mining. I have looked at what I should use and I am considering this guys build http://www.coinminingrigs.com/quad-7970-mining-rig/ but instead of using 4x 7970 I will start out using 2x 7950. Does this build look like it would be good? Another question I have is toward a wallet. I keep reading that each type of wallet gets broken into a lot and I have no idea what to get. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

My preference is CGMiner 3.3.4 as mining software, and have been using the 13.8 beta catalyst,the difficulty on BTC and LTC atm is way high. My rigs Khash on scrypt-coins is approx. 1.2kh and it doesn't pay very well mining Btc and LTC, I have chossen to mine Anoncoin (ANC) to get a little bit more profitability. There are alot of ALt-Coins out on the market. To be a good trader, research the coin you want to mine, and "ask questions on the exchange troll-box's" to get ideas. The mining landscape for BTC has changed dramatically since then. If you're still considering buying a GPU-rig to mine bitcoins, then you have not been following the scene as closely as you should have. Title: Re: New to BTC. But you should read up on the BTC mining landscape. Your profits will be negligible now that ASICs are coming on-scene. I have a similar rig that I mine LTC with, but it's a hobby. I don't expect to get rich off it. There are those who would argue that your better off taking that money you want to invest in a mining rig and just buying coins with it instead. Personally I do both. I enjoy mining. But realize that you'll only make a few bucks a day off that rig. I've mined about 150 LTC in ~3 months running two 7950s. Understand that this will likely decrease further as difficulty increases.
I don't want to discourage you from mining, but you should be aware of the landscape. |
