On 10th I bought these coins...

If you notice in all these coins I am in HUGE lose. I am holding this of course. Coz I would never sell my coins in lose. I did in past but learnt my lessons.

How do you handle when you are in my situation.

You log off your PC, and enjoy your life without crypto.

Maybe check CMC once a week and you will eventually be in the green - it could take a week or a year.

Once you are losing more percentage of your investment you have no choice what to do but to HODL, every dip of the coin will have a pump later.
Once a future development comes an improvement on the project are visible the price will surely pump more than the expected amount. don't make losses just hodl and wait for the time it pumps.

 I will do the same as you which is hold. We know that this is a temporary market down and market will cover soon.

Cutting a 50% loss is too much.. Instead, just forget about that trade and focus on another opportunity for now.. You can check on it from time to time in case price has improved.

there Is only 1 way from that you can recover your amount that when ever price will decrease more than you should buy more and if you have a little profit sell it. Or another way is if 1 of your trade will rise and will complete your loss than you can sell other token and keep only the profit making one.

Bouncing back from 50% loss is not impossible in crypto market trading world, you can clearly see that some coins rebat with 100% gain on its price based on my little experience on trading, I'm not that good or expert with this kind of trading but I manage to witness some coins pumps over 100+ percent like bitcoin and eth over a short period of time. Holding the right coin is the key for you to cover all the loss of 50% because if you manage to hold some useless coins from PD and scammer groups then you may have to shift to another genuine crypto.

What do I do when I'm in loss ?

Playing a game on my laptop  ;) Try to find an activity which will interest you and will force you to forget about everything (don't consider tabacco, alcohol and etc). Or you can search for some potential ICOs and try to do their bounty program. And remember to have an additional second plan in such loss cases. My advice for future: send a small part of your profits to a wallet and use it only when your coins go bearish.

It is a good question! Sometimes sell all coins you have is better, sometimes you need to hold. All depends of situation. As for me if we are talking about curently moment, I prefer hold all and do not sell.

Nothing new there, happens lots of times to lots of traders. It just means you are checking your portfolio at the wrong time, try again in a few weeks and you'll be in profit again. You should read some sources, you should try to analyze a coin you will buy, whether the coin is potential or not to be invested, if I see capital that you spend big enough and you currently lose up to it. Crypto is very cruel to beginners. So there are two options that is, continue if you dare to try it and second you close and take all your treasure, and run life away from crypto. If you want to continue. Start reading and researching crypto, so you do not lose any more! ;)

Im experiencing the same thing, just hold those coins and move onto some other ones. ones that have better gain potential. even dead coins sometimes surprises traders when they eventually pump to even up to x50 or more. crypto is a crazy world.

Lets say if those "money" i use to invest is earn through bitcoin i will just hold it as trading on whatever instrument there is definitely winning "trade" and losing trade and the money involve in the first place is not mine is what i earn from the BTC and i am just giving a portion back to the BTC and lets say if the "trade" rise back everything goes well i take back profit. The best thing that i will do is to pray that the price will go back although it is not a very "clever" thing to do, but is the only thing i will do.

Be calm, turn off the computer screen, take a break, go out relax. Then turn in and cut loss  ;D

If you still believe in the project, you can buy a bit more to lower your average investment per coin, but do that only if you still think the coin might have a future. It's risky but with serious projects, it can be a good idea.

As you said, don't sell at a loss. Consider these lost for the time being. You'll just stress yourself out when you look at all of them in the red. Well, in my own experience I stopped and hold my coins until they recover and if they do then I'm going to shift them into another coins but before that I'm going to choose what's the best coin to invest that will surely will pump after few weeks of months.

You need to forget about crypto market for about a month, then come after did many relaxation method and enjoy the rise of the market again.

In order to not lose a lot of coins then you should do the main formula of trading
BUY LOW - SELL HIGH
you won't lose even a single coin of you do hold it until it will turn higher otherwise hold it no matter how many weeks had passed.
But before you do trading be sure your coin is a good one because bad coins will never pump.

To prevent this happening in the future, you need to remember 2 rules - 1) use stop-loss and 2) never buy during a pamp. There are many other rules, but these are the most important.

just wait.. The market it down for everyone. If you are down on a trade just wait until it goes up. There is nothing else to do at that point. I never understood why people would sell at a loss. You lose what you can potentially make later. If they are good coins they will come back up.

I have seen your coins list you have invested mostly in high supply coins. But still I would advice you to hold it. It is no use to book loss now holding would be the best option because we never know when these coins will rise again so holding can be fruitful. I wouldn't worry also, the prices are only a short view on what is going on in crypto. Most altcoins have prices that recover.

My suggestion to OP if he really is determined to hold for long term is to avoid letting his emotions get to him. A 50% loss is huge, and he may resort to panic selling if he ever he suddenly feels depressed and the need to cut his losses. Just continue to hodling if you truly believe that this coin is worth for long term investment.

I had a similar situation when, after problems on the exchange, the BTS-e froze half of the etherium. Already passed more than six months, but this amount I never returned ((

This happened to me so many times, I feel broke of course at the first time but since I am a person who not give up easily I tried to figure it out what was wrong on my trading decision, and it all happened because of lack of knowledge and experience. Sorry for your lost money. Just take it easy my friend. You have two option (1) hold your current portfolio or  (2) accept that lost the trade and execute cut loss strategy. The first one 50% lost on portfolio can be reverse for many years if you want to hold your portfolio. If execute the 2nd strategy accept the lost and trade better next time the probability that you can earn is better. I would choose cut lost, but the next trade just make sure you make adjustment on your strategy. Study harder on trading specifically technical and fundamental analysis. Set also on how much lost you can afford (set your cutloss and follow it religiously)

if you in this dip, then hold, but really you got to know when to close your trade
for example, if you close in -10%, and rate goes down 40% more and you buy the dip, even if it recovers just 20% you are already in profit

There will be losses.  Yoy are definitely not alone.  If you want to protect yourself better you can always set a 10% stop loss from your initial buy on the exchanges. Stick with a strategy. Trade or invest!

I have to wait to recover as this market have huge volatility and it gives opportunities in both sides. If i am in losses, i have to wait for the market to cool down and start moving in upward direction and then decide to sell.

Why do newbs have such mindset "never sell their coin when it's in negative"?

You know your negatively performing coins are not going to recover because they failed at the most fundamental level,
they are meant to be just a pump and dump coin, not selling your loss just because they're in lost and hoping for a recovery is plain stupid.

the same thing happened with me last month when was the whole market at depth situation so i had no choice but holding those coins and wait for the right moment and i have to tell to wait it will recover just need more time like it recovered with my holding and sold for on a bitcoin profit so just be patient and best of luck

There's nothing you can do except hodling it until the price bouncing back. That's why i've never trade more than i can afford to lose. I always split my capital in case the price keeps dipping. I already bought more altcoins at the last "red waves" and take a rest until the price recovered and pump again. I'm sure if there's an improvement to the project, the price will pump again even more than you expected.

I had stick in this situation on Jun lat year, but In made pending order for each coin at the price that i was willing to sale, and I borrow from a friend his extra satoshies  and  I got through some ICOs, and on the mid of  December 2017, all pending orders  hit the target prices and got executed!

If you are a 5-10% loss you can consider a cut and run if you feel it may tank further, but I feel once you are beyond that you need to just settle in for a bag hold unless its an obvious pajeet coin.

I would do research why there is a big price drop. Knowing the reasons could help in analyzing the price trend.  There are so many factors that could result to a downfall.  Others are temporary and there are those that could result to its burning.  A review of the roadmaps are quite helpful too.  Sometimes there are golds at the end of a rainbow if you just follow.  A saying that holds true to some crypto that are considered as tarnish shit but solid gold inside.

the only thing that remains is to wait. the course will be restored, it is only a matter of time. because everything is just beginning. Although, I do not venture to trade, I only invest in ico and prospective projects, it also gives its profit, but it takes less time and nerves.

Dude you have to set your cut loss.. Its just normal if you have a losing trade. Can you hold them for few years if needed? If yes, then just hodl them, if not then sell them. I think they should go back up when bitcoin rises back up but I don't know much about those alts except trx which I think will rise. Just keep track of bitcoin price and forget about keeping track of them individually for few weeks.

this is what I called the real investor because he could say "I will never sell my coins at loses" and I am sure that you will make a big profit in the future like Idrisu said. it is our risk to see that our coins are getting down but we still have a chance to see the coins increase back and it could give us a big profit.

The best I can do when I lose 50% is just holding the coin or token and I need to be more patience because part of the trading is not always stable the price, just like buying of a food on a store, the price will become low or high which is depends on the market based. And another thing is to buy other coins so that you can compensate from your lose.

Yeah i think so, i have fall too, lose on my investment and then i just let it there not seeing my lose portfolio very often and care too much about what i have lose, i tried more focus what will benefit and prospect on the future like doing life stuff and make money to invest in another interesting project. i think you just let it sleep for 3 to 6 months before you begin to check.

if you are a trader you should cut loss long before 50%. If you are a holder, ok, go back and have a sleep and find something else to do!

If I have that kind of portfolio I will narrow it down to 2-5 atlcoins. This is to make sure that I can monitor any progress in the market. Losing 50% on one coins is very hard to recover. It will take you a lot of time to recover. That's why the second strategy you should do is set cutloss for your portfolio. Based on my experience my maximum loss tolerance is only 30% if one of my account reach 30% loss and the technical and fundamentals reflects is still downtrend I will execute my cutloss strategy.

If you want  to never lose in your trades then don’t go with ICO’s because now a day’s, many ICO’s are listing below there ICO price and you don’t get any profit if they list below  there initial price. Do your research and then buy good quality alt coins which are already listed and proved.

A lot of people here are saying that you shouldn't sell whilst being 50% under, however a good trader knows when to cut their losses. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, if you're losing most of the time, you must be doing something wrong. If a coin is genuinely dead, then you should exit your position as the situation will only get worse. Actually I see the only one way out here: just stop trading for awhile and hold your coins. Sooner or later many of them will go up, and you will get at least some profit. Do not get rid of these alts and pay more attention to the rates progress of all altcoins.

Many of us have been to the very same place, as you can see from all of the feedback here.   I was there briefly in July last year but I held and just kept reading / researching about projects and eventually some projects that were down one month, shot up 3-8X a month later (at which point, I sold my initial position and have let the house money ride ever since as I'm playing the long game with crypto).    There are more and more people around the world noticing the space and what is going on every single day.   Crypto is set to explode in 2018, so just hold if you're able to stomach it, take a small break from it if needed but once you step back in, make sure you build a strategy on building that portfolio til it's... up, up and away!

just like a few weeks ago because of Korean and China issued regulation to banned all exchange trade cryptocurrency, all of trader have lose a lot. At that moment I watch the chart how I will take action Hold or Cut Off, after take some analysis, I decided to Cut Off some of my asset about 45% before it going down deep. Cause my analysis the rebound will take longer than usually, maybe more than a months to recover.

If you believe in the coins, buy on the dips and lower your average buy price.  Then when it rises, you'll be in the green much faster and calm your nerves.  Again only buy the dips if you like the coins. I think it is best of you stop thinking for a while. Do not check it every hour or even every day. Give yourself a little rest and let it grow. Log in in a week and see the difference, than do another week. Soon the correction will be over and the prices will move upward.

This is a huge lose and its gonna be hard to just set it aside and not think about it. However, in this sotuation, i guess setting it aside and not thinking about it the best thing that you should do; get your mind off of it. As with your remaining coins, hodl them; give them about a year or two and just check on them every week or so. Eventually, those coins will grow in value. This situation is truly stressful but you have to remember that values won't keep on going down, it will also rise or imcrease. It is just a matter of time.

Best thing you can do is just forget about it.

As for the recent value of those coins, I agree with most here which is to HOLD. Soon when developments are up on those coins, they will gain value. not only you friends, it also happened to me, when I lost more than 50% in trading I feel very desperate and try to decide to sell my coins because of limited funds. but what happens next is a deeper regret that after 24 hours I sold, the coin pumped up to more than 100% and it makes me very sorry, so from now on when I am already in a losing position in the trade then I will continue to hold coin me though in a long time.

Holding it wont hurt your ass,but selling these coins in panic will give you a lot of headache,i personally holding a lot of coins because i am one of those people who got FOMO after some hype but then when i bought these coins the price were dropped down to 50% from the price where i bought these.We have no choice but to hold it for sometime unless you are stupid enough to sell them in panic,you can lose everything.

You should be patient.  I'm sure you were told such a thing millions of times.  Calm down and wait.  The situation is going to change for the best. If the sum you have spent on those coins was all you have,  I'd recommend you not to take such risks in future. Invest no more than 30 % of how much you have.

I strongly suggest be strong.! Be is always the principles of strong people who can manage their life in struggles and challenges. yeah just stop following their movement right now because it will just give you unneeded stress. most of the coins are undergoing correction and it looks to be almost over. trx expecially may climb up soon so don't worry, just forget about them and remember, even the millionaires from bitcoin had to wait 7 years.

I would still hold them, 50% loss would be too great for me and I wouldn't want to conclude it that way since there are still potential for market to change and will only cut my loss if by some chance that I would need extra money. But as for that situation it would be best to just hold and wait these months are usually bound to have very low value among cryptos but it will eventually go up in no time.

I agree with your overall sentiment, but this piece of advice shouldn't mean that you should be patient forever even if all your coins are in the red. You should keep checking whether something is wrong with your portfolio, check the news, check the graphs and indicators; and if it looks like your portfolio is not going to recover, you should cut your losses and invest in other coins.

The price of your coins is not going to start increasing magically, so you have to make sure (as much as possible) that they are going to rise again. Otherwise, you may hodl forever coins that are going to keep falling and become worthless in the end.

Today I moved these coins (except music and VTC) to my hardware wallet means I am going to hold these coins for long term.

I would just hold if I am the one in that situation specially if that 50% of my investment lost in trades are huge. I suggest you refrain from short term trading and wait for your investment to gain profit atleast regaining what you have lost from your previous trades. All you need is patient and a realistic goal for your investments before selling them.

There's nothing much that you can do about that, you need to be rational about choosing to hold it or sell it already. That's why it is essential to really know the coin you're investing in and to keep yourself posted. What you can do next time is to set an acceptable percentage of loss for your investments or choose a more stable coin. But There's still a chance for you go get profit if you hold.

I think that the best way out of this situation will be to do nothing and wait for the market to recover. If you do something now, you can lose a lot more money.  :-\

I was in that kind of situation, but not crypto (well markets all the same staff) My advise, find yourself a hobby. Start going to the gym or running, or whatever u up to. Get ur head in other direction, leave crypto alone for a while. So you could see everything in couple of weeks/month with clear head! Do not panic, it will make it even worse, you will start selling (not at the right prices), then buying (not at the right prices) and you will make even more losses, if not lose everything. Now I am hodling and not worrying very much. Price can go higher and can go lower. It is important not to invest too much in it.

You need to treat each investment separately, if the reasons you bought them still hold true then consider adding to your position to lower your average cost. If circumstances have changed then reassess your investment. I only sell coins when they reach my target or when the circumstances change.

Once you lose heavy % of your investment you have no choice just HODL, If you want you can average at these prices and will have a pump later.
Don't make losses by selling at these prices, just hodl and wait for the time.

Every time the price dipped in the last two months, people have been commenting "now the price will start to increase" or "there is no way but up", without giving any reasons at all. The market shows no signs of real recovery and it looks like it is going to be like this for the foreseeable future.

You need to wait for the market to recover and You're still not in loss.
You would be if you sold you coins now below the price you bought it.

I am not saying that trading is gambling, but just to show the context, when you gamble and you lose, you enter a state that you want to play more to get your loses back, on the other hand, if you win, you would want to play more to extend your winnings. the last time we saw how the coins just went up the hill and there was no drawdown from them. So this is a normal phenomenon that they all sagged and bitcoin the same way.

This happened to me before.
I was doing day trading and say some movement potential in a shitcoin called eddiecoin.  My timing was off and and I ended up with a bunch of eddiecoin just sitting on the exchange.  I left it there with an open sell order for a hefty profit for 5 months and forgot about it.

Well, last novemberish I was suddenly suprised to see that my eddie had sold off!
I saw the trade history and it spiked in value 1800% in an hour and a half!
Then it dropped down to it's dismally low prices again haha.
So I was able to get rid of them for a decent profit.
Now, this is extremely rare though, so I wouldn't count on it.

the best thing that we can do is close the computer, take a deep breath, do another thing that will make our minds is not thinking about the coin for all day long. and if we still have money, maybe we can buy more for each coin so we can reduce our average buy price and we can expect and wait for the price increase back. sometimes I buying the coins again if the price is down and I think that the coin has a good chance to increase in short time and I am willing to add another amount to my wallet.

If you are losing so much money then you are not a trader but an investor, if you bought those coins thinking as a trader and are in 50% loss then the only thing I can tell you is that you need to learn how to use the stop loss function in your favorite exchange and put a range at which you will sell.

Not a lot that you can do in this kind of situation,either sell them with loss and invest in coin that you thing have a bright future or just hodl them and hope that price will ever go up.This is why there are options like stop loss in trading that prevents you from making this big mistake and losing over 50%

I am not checking portfolio  frequently I may check once when whole market go it’s advisable to have a patience atleast you get 2x profit of your btc investment. Out of your investment trx may give huge profit.

I try to avoid such situations. But if this has already happened, then only wait. Wait until the market begins to grow and prices will recover. Use a risk management strategy. If the market enters a bearish phase, then sell with a loss of 5-10% and then buy at the bottom.

Right now what I do is to do trading on Binance, day trading needs skill so you can learn from experience to be a day trader. You can also do bounties while waiting. Junior members already can join different bounties. Try it.

Well, accept the fact that joining trading and investing in digital currencies is really risky due to volatility of the price so we have to be use to it and face it with fortitude especially when losing because i heard that there is a man in South Korea that commit suicide because of losing investment in digital currencies. So in this situation of yours you should HOLD your coins because i believed that these coins are promising in which their teams are working hard to make the price rise up to become stable once again. Just always think that you are not alone in this situation.

For me, I usually hold on to that. There's a part of me who would like to dump all of my tokens, and there's another part of me who is strong and willing to hold on. I think it is just a healthy correction when the crash comes, and it is a lesson learned for all of us who are still new into this one.

The only excuse is if Bitcoin is rallying and because of that the whole alts market is down - in this situation, you have to wait for BTC to stabilize and the alts will recover.

i think when the market starting to drop too much, loosing  50% to cut loss is not a good idea, instead the only option is stop making any trades and waiting until the price rise again in the future, we should not too rush in selling our coin to cut loss, it will be worse than you think when we cut loss.

I also experienced it when buying MTL and TRX which decreased by 50%.
So until now I still hodl because convinced the future price of the coin will rise up again after the market is more stable.

To me, that is really normal. But it depends on the altcoins you invest. If you invest in small altcoins and lose 50% of your assets then you should sell them right away, small altcoins will not help you improve your capital.
But if you invest in bitcoin, you should keep it all and do not sell. Because bitcoin is the king of the crypto market and never collapses. Be patient and profit will come to you.

On my personal opinion you invest in a very high risk coin. this coin is not even in top 100 except for trx though there is a chance of recovery but what if this coins would go deeper? i will hold coind only if there are a big volume daily usually in top 50 on cmc but still good luck for your decision if i where you i would invest in coins in top 10-top20 it may lower your risk of losing

Their will be no loss if your not selling your coins. I know the market gone down because of bitcoin. depend on the market situations and which coin that i keep because some of the particular coins always be decreasing the price and lack of trade so nothing i can do besides cut my loss but if the coins that i keep big coins with high volume support such as bitcoin then i'm sure i would hold it because possibly the price will recover again

You were very unlucky that you were able to buy during the time when the market was still almost on the top. That time might not be the time when many of these coins reached the all time high but then the prices were still very much expensive. That is very unfortunate of you. And right now what is left is a battle inside of you, a battle of patience. You must patiently hold these coins until their prices are recovering. It might take a long while but you do no have much of a choice either. So you need to win the battle of patience inside of you.

yes, you are right. it is better to keep holding the bitcoin we have until we can sell it at the highest price than the price we bought. but sometimes, if we decide to sell it when it is down for 5%, we can wait for the price to get down for more so we can buy again with a lot of amounts and with small money. but all in all, it depends on the market movements and if the market is like this, then this will not work properly because the price still going down even its increase a little.

For all the negative press trying to drive Bitcoin down in price there are bullish remarks and opinions by other financial gurus who predict that by the end of the year we should see momentum upwards. I hope that you could at least have made back most of what you are down, by year end.

So hold for what could be until the end of the year is what I would do. I also bought when it was nearer the highs of last year but am confident it will slowly upturn over the months to come. Just have to sit tight.

i am not doing anything now  :)  i lost more than 50% in 2-3 months but still holding. i think best way is holding because if try return to profitability by trading i lost more because market is really awful last days.

Once am in a situation like this, I will just forget about the market and my investment and move to something else, cuz I know the situation won't last for a long period of time.
