Hello today i notice that there is Merit in my forum profile and it is at 250 . Yesterday it wasnt there , is it a new forum thing ? and for what purposes it would be used ?

yes, I also see it in my profile view. but merit only 10. I do not know its usefulness. but I see, the higher the ranking the higher the amount of merit.

I believe it is needed now in addition to activity in order to rank up.
This is to prevent those "farmers" who just posts for the sake of posting, writing with almost no sense. So having many posts doesn't necessarily correlate to an instant rank up, you have to up your game!

Read and understand about the thread..than made a meaningful post. This will up your merit.

Yes me too. After read on another thread, i think this is new requirement for Level up and you need quality post for get merit from others people. I think this will make forum to better and more useful in the future.

by giving sewer we will not take the Merit we have, the way to collect the merit is by: every Merit given to us, we will get 0.5 sMerit, and also the Merit point is permanent (permanent) which will not decrease even though the post or our thread deleted.
Following the new forum policy where there is now a Merit Point requirement to level up in addition to the amount of activity, I created this thread to help to understand more about sMerit (Sendable Merit). Merit is like of ur post.if ur post quality is good then some one who hold the merit can give u merit for ur good post.

Hey, before you decide to answer a question from an old thread, check out its date!
Both are from January 25 which is when the merit system was introduced, those questions are totally covered by those hundreds of thread here in the meta board.

Quoting post and posting the same reply in each is obviously not a double post accident.

May be members here also need to consider the need the relevance of an answer before giving merit as well. You have answered a question posted 3 months before and which had already been answered. Even the OP has updated the post with the link to official thread about merit system which was responsible for merit showing in his profile.

Please do not bump old threads like this as it causes lot of confusions.

Yes, merit is one of the requirements to rank up now. This is in addition to the activity requirement and thus you will still have to complete the desired activity in order to get promoted to next rank.

The purpose of merit system is to reward users who are making quality posts. This will encourage other members to make quality contributions here as well. You people can't get any Merit if you're just doing unnecessary things just like this, bumping on an old thread,...
As you can see this thread was already answered, and you still keep on replying an answer that was already given.
And for the OP, just like what VOD said, you have to lock this thread as soon as possible to prevent the continuous spamming on this post, many newbies will try to reply even if you already got your answer. They wouldn't care as long as they can reach the number of activities that they need.

Even after one month introducing the merit system (25th Feb) you both were exchanging merits.

You know it's not for exchange but to encourage good quality posts.
