Title: Vega on Nicehash?
Post by: GrassBite on January 24, 2018, 11:17:26 PM
I am tired of seeing Nicehash at the top of WhatToMine when I cannot figure out how to get Nicehash to run on my Vegas.

Is anyone running Nicehash on vegas?  If so, what drivers and are you doing anything special to activate the HBM on nicehash?

Bump.

I was just about to post the same question. Would love to hear someone's experience of this if anyone's got it working.

The first step is to post in the proper place. This is a bitcoin mining support subforum, you will not find help here.

Isn't that what someone is doing using nicehash?  mining Altcoins, which actually, in turn get them bitcoin.

I see no reason not to post here - if you have a suggestion on which subforum would be better...please share that instead of being as A$$hat.

I never knew that you couldn't run Vega's on NH.  I have Vega's, but never tried them on NH.  What seems to be the problem?

They should work fine on NH Miner - though you probably won't achieve your desired rates.
I assume most people are pointing their preferred miner at nicehash pools. I've done it before with my Vegas and it works perfectly.

I'd encourage you to read through the following threads/guides:

So, if I point a miner at a nicehash server...what do I use as the username?  I guess that's what I don't understand.  I thought you had to use their stupid application.

Okay, this is simple nicehash FAQ on their website stuff.
Little shocked this is the second time I've posted this today but mining is booming I guess...

Make sure you research nicehash to see if that's the right service for you. Depending on your goals, it may or may not be the best service. Remember, there is a reason why people are paying for hashing power.

Here's a list of pools: https://www.nicehash.com/help/which-stratum-servers-are-available
Their FAQ/Help sections are pretty good.
Essentially, you just point your miner to the appropriate nicehash pool and use the nicehash generated address from your account as your username.

Thanks for replying, but I've been mining on my own for a while and I've read their pages you linked.  I see the stratum servers.  I just never realized by wallet address which I assumed was a bitcoin address specific type address name was the address to use on their stratum servers.  I guess that is what you are saying?

Thanks!

Boom!  That's 25% higher return than on Sumokoin.  Thanks man!  Remoted in from work and switched my rig.

So by doing it this way, are you paying 2% to NH for the pool fee and then whatever the dev fee is on your mining software?

Currently the popular crypton coins from  whattomine earn lower than nicehash cryptonight.
Lot less. Sumo etn karbo etc. Since also NH disturbs the normal hashrate of those chains from the buyers pointing huge hashes to the coins.
At the end pf the day That's why sellers switch to these NH.
It used to be not like this but lately that's the reality for the whattomine crypto night coins.

Well I've pointed one of my Vega 56 rigs to NH via XMR-STAK to test it out, but I don't think it's going to be more profitable than mining ETN at SpacePool at the moment.  ETN difficulity has gone way up in the past week or so, but ... I don't know ... I guess we'll see.  I'm going to test it for a couple of days and see what I come up with.

From what I can see, you're losing 4% ... 2% to NH and 2% to XMR-STAK dev fee.  Mining to NH gives you the free transfer to CB, but I don't know that I pay 2% to get ETN from my wallet to an exchange and then to CoinBase.  Perhaps you do, if you are sending BTC from an exchange to CB, because the fees are so high.

First, I wouldn't touch ETN again if you paid me.  And second, I was mining Sumo and it is a lot more than 2% less than what NH is paying.

Well I've been mining ETN for quite awhile and I've "realized" some profit from it.  Certainly cashed out at one point a couple of weeks ago.  My question was pool rate though.

If you are mining to NH, are you only paying them 2% plus your miner dev fee?  I think that probably is the case, and it's not horrible.

2% fee for balance payment up to 0.1btc to NH wallet. Above 0.1btc it's 3%
Withdrawal fee too if you don't use coin base wallet.
The other is miner soft fee. There are free miners.
