Title: [ANN][BGP]BGPCoin - the Coin for ISPs
Post by: cryptosperg on January 25, 2018, 12:37:47 AM
Hello, very short post here.

I want to make you all aware of mining opportunities for a new currency called BGPCoin.

BGPCoin is a Proof-of-Work currency that switches to Proof-of-Stake at block height 65535.  There are approximately 12million coins in the money supply right now.  New ones are generated by mining an 8 minute block with a block reward of 256 coins.

BGPCoin is intended to allow ISPs to settle bandwidth fees for things like peering, routing announcements, cross connects, dark fiber interconnects, and even data center rack space.  In addition, this can be used for priority support and traffic routing.  The name comes from Border Gateway Protocol, which is the protocol of choice for interacting between ISPs on the internet.  With the end of Net Neutrality in the US, ISPs will have to be extremely conscious of their bandwidth charges.

The code is at https://github.com/bgpcoin/bgpcoin and you can download wallets at https://github.com/bgpcoin/wallets

The official mining pool is at https://pool.bgpcoin.com/ and starts on port 3008 for low difficulty.

We're working on the website and the whitepaper will be forthcoming.  This is extremely new -- block height is in the mid three digits since it is only a few days old.  There is a pre-mine which is being used to fund developer bounties and there will be a partial token sale with the intent of getting listed on several exchanges.

About the founder -- experienced technologist, former NASA Engineer, was CTO at a virtual reality company, and has both graduate and undergraduate degrees in finance.

There are bounties listed on in the github README that include coin bounties for getting us listed on an exchange!  Enjoy and happy mining!

Hi, looks interesting.  Was just wondering what ISP use to settle this today.  What is the value for them to utilize this coin over their current method?

Yep, the command line daemon.  Also, we patched the source so you should be able to build it on Mac OS X.  I don't have high sierra on my mac so I was not able to test that but one of the other devs said he got it working.

By the way,

Take a look at https://github.com/bgpcoin/tools/

You can generate a paper wallet on a Linux system that has bc, and qrencoder installed (both available for Ubuntu 17.10)

Bootstrap to speed up sync? 1056 blocks remaining for what feels like forever. This is the QT-EXE from github, but it doesnt seem to be making any movement at all. I am hoping to sync today, so I can start mining tonight. I just want to make sure my wallet is in order before starting.

Will the wallet not run on Windows? Do I need to make a Linux or Ubuntu partition? I am running Win10 with cgminer 3.9.0, but its not syncing and now says 1057 blocks instead of 1056.

I started a Telegram group to discuss, join here if you want. I did not see a logo, so I just made a cheap and cheesy generic one real quick.

Earlier this day minerion.com server lost power due to an issue with the rack where it is hosted. Took the opportunity to do some server tweaking after the server cameback online and now all mining can be resumed normally.

There's no way to write an article or even blog about this coin with the limited amount of information currently available. Plus 8 BGP per blog post seems rather low.

Just my 2 cents.

You can get the data necessary to bootstrap from https://chain.bgpcoin.com/bootstrap.zip

Unzip this in your .bgpcoin directory right before you run the daemon.  It contains your block database

Hope this helps.  More information forthcoming.  Whitepaper/website on the way

Chain explorer is down, official pool is down.  Entire OpenStack cloud is down. -- Should not affect the seed node #2.  Seed node 1 needs to come back up once the cloud is returned to service.

It's back up tonight, https://chain.bgpcoin.com/

Working on getting piWallet up and running for this so people can keep their coins on a website.

Thinking about packaging all of this up and throwing it onto docker hub.

Mining pool is still down because mongo.

Once Meshflow is implemented and in the wild, it'll make it much easier for providers large and small to adopt the bgpcoin as their instance settlement payment of choice and do hourly settlements based on SNMP queries.

Imagine being an ISP and getting paid for bandwidth throughout the month and having those funds on hand to pay for other services like cross connects.

It's difficult to make IP addresses fungible due to ICANN rules, but making bandwidth fungible has always been a pipe dream (hah, no pun intended) and I think BTC is too volatile for this.

There's going to be a presentation about BGPCoin in Orange County in the next few weeks most likely.

Hello, tell me please how to restore access to the online wallet? I tried to enable two-factor authorization, I received the password, the code scanned. Then I updated the page and tried to restart. Was there some motivation besides just developing another coin for a specific use-case

Yes, there is a decided lack of realtime information about bandwidth flows except for monthly billing, and having a more realtime picture of that, as afforded by the blockchain will allow for greater capacity planning.

The announcement is way too short. If you want me to invest my time and or money into figuring out this currency, first you have to put in some grunt work.

If you lay out the use case very simply and show how ISP's would use it, and why they would come to this coin and not just develop their own, then I'd be willing to talk about mining/investing in this. But no whitepaper, no website, and a claim that the guy who started this worked at NASA, with nothing to back that claim up, DONT WASTE MY TIME. Come back when you got something for me to sink my teeth into, otherwise, stop hogging bct server space with this crap.

As your coin is new and growing, we need liquidity. I have very good connection with admin of a new exchange. Hopefully they will list your coin with tiny fee ... If you want to apply there, let me know. I think, my friend will give instant reply.

Moreover, you will be able to pay the listing fee with your own coin, instead of btc/eth.

We all know that the blockchain industry is ever growing in the cryptocurrency world. In this market, we can have a new and innovative project that we can focus on and I see that in your work. Great history record and the project is great compared to other competitors!

Title: Re: [ANN][BGP]BGPCoin - the Coin for ISPs
Post by: CryptocurrencysMiner on July 13, 2018, 12:00:58 PM
the wallet does not synchronize
the developer is missing
he died he forgot I do not know
the only portfolio that works online
but it will probably be like with litecoin black
the same page template
Suddenly the wallet website will stop working and you will lose your coins
purposeful action
in my opinion it is a waste of time to waste time on this coin

The nods you gave me finally joined me
that is, before it was also a combination of 2 connections to the network but it did not download blocks
Now, as I entered your nodes, there are only 2 connections to the network
and suddenly 3500 blocks were downloaded
and it stopped again
now it takes 1 block for a minute average time
that is, the wallet should synchronize for 50,000 minutes
I have not seen such eggs yet

60min x 24h = 1440 block

If all goes well in 34 days, I should synchronize my wallet
unless the number of blocks increases: D

I bet
that in the conf file you need to add some magic formula
straight from Harry Potter
type:
server = 1
rpcuser = rpcuser
rpcpassword = rpcpassword
rpcallowip = 127.0.0.1
listen = 1
daemon = 1
rpcport = 3433

but we will not find out because the developer died

there is a problem again
in the end I managed to configure the bitcoin.conf file
but there is another problem the wallet has downloaded began to download the blocks
suddenly, the wallet saw that there are 36 thousand blocks and that's all it took
and the sync bar has disappeared
I entered the console
after entering getinfo you can see that it downloads blocks

now the wallet has stopped at block 75286

and the next problem is that you can not see a large amount of coins in my wallet which I extracted a few months ago
after a few months, finally, I came to set up a configuration file, but there are no coins in the wallet

why create a coin that does not work the wallet you need to combine nobody can give what the configuration file should look like
Do you know what for?
the answer is simple
I extracted a few coins and the scheme is the same you can not set up the wallet
but there is an online wallet
people are mining into an online wallet
who disappears after a few months
suddenly the online site with the wallet is turned off and the coins are lost
I have extracted a few coins and the diagram is always the same
the wallet does not synchronize, so we get to the wallet on the website
and your coins disappear with the online wallet after a few months

now the wallet has stopped at block 75286

and the next problem is that you can not see a large amount of coins in my wallet which I extracted a few months ago
after a few months, finally, I came to set up a configuration file, but there are no coins in the wallet

why create a coin that does not work the wallet you need to combine nobody can give what the configuration file should look like
Do you know what for?
the answer is simple
I extracted a few coins and the scheme is the same you can not set up the wallet
but there is an online wallet
people are mining into an online wallet
who disappears after a few months
suddenly the online site with the wallet is turned off and the coins are lost
I have extracted a few coins and the diagram is always the same
the wallet does not synchronize, so we get to the wallet on the website
and your coins disappear with the online wallet after a few months

Something changed?
the only thing that changed it I found it on youtube

if you trust this man, bring forth this coin
I thank you and I do not intend to have anything to do with this coin

what about BGPX?
Will it be listed on  any exchange platform?
I tried etherdelta nobody selling or buying.
