Title: Good Bitcoin Wallet for Ledger Nano S
Post by: CHENG90 on January 25, 2018, 11:58:26 AM
Hi all, please can someone advise me on best wallet to use for BTC and alts with my Ledger Nano S?

I have my ETH, TRX, BITTO (ICO) and ZRX all used with 'MyEtherWallet' and Ledger but I'm not aware of a BTC equivalent that i can use for BTC, LTC etc. as simply as the MEW one.

Thanks and i appreciate any help given.

Myetherwallet is only for ETH and ERC20 Tokens. For other coins (must be supported by Ledger already) then you need to download the Ledger Manager (https://www.ledgerwallet.com/apps/manager) and here is a step by step tutorial  (https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005172945-How-to-install-and-use-Litecoin-LTC-)on how to add Litecoin (applies for other coins).

Great, thanks :) I'll have a look! I was trying to avoid using the ledger Apps hence the MyEtherWallet use on ETh/ERC20 Tokens, I was hoping for a similar online application like MEW that takes all other coins (If one exists) and then I would use MEW for ETH/Tokens and another one for BTC, LTC etc.

The reason being that I can leave the Ledger in 'Browser Supported, Yes' if you know what I mean, for some reason I don't want to use the Ledger wallets provided within the Ledger app.

Thanks anyway!!

Best regards

I think there is no such online app which would support all coins supported by Ledger Nano S except Ledger apps in Chrome. But if you do not like Chrome apps, for BTC you can use Electrum in combination with your Ledger : https://support.ledgerwallet.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005161925-How-to-use-Electrum-with-your-Nano-S

There is also Electrum clones for LTC,DASH and BCH(ElectronCash),but I am not sure if this versions of wallets support Ledger Nano S.

Great, that seems like just what I was looking for. I don't want one that supports both, just a good one for each :) Thank you

Just so you know... that setting is per "app" on the Ledger Nano S device. They don't ALL have to be Browser=YES or Browser=NO. So, you can select the wallet you like best for each coin and set the browser support as required. Ie. you can set BTC to Browser=Yes, BTG to Browser=NO, LTC to Browser=NO, DASH to Browser=YES etc.

Yes, you can. I didn't realise but yes of course the browser support setting is different for each type :) Thanks again for the help, I really do appreciate the help!
